    The most misunderstood talked about part of the clutch. Thank you for making this video. That’s what’s going on with my scoot and it’s also jerking on tank off. I’m sure it’s related to these pens. I will be looking into them tomorrow. Thank you very much.

    Hi, I have a 50cc 2 stroke scooter, and the belt doesnt go all the way up, could the "groove" be the problem, as its not allowing the rear pulley to open all the way?

  • @scooterstreetau

    @scooterstreetau

    Жыл бұрын

    At first I would say NO. When the belt travels forward as the gearing changes the belt will stop progressing for several reason but mainly I can list 2: 1/ the belt is sitting at the lowest point in the rear pulley and cannot physically move as it has met its limit of travel. Is the belt too wide, too short and incorrect belt? 2/ There is a mechanical restriction not allowing the progression of the belt, with this I refer to the rollers being to light, the engine RPM too low, the rear pulley (as you mention) not closing - this usually causes slippage of the belt. Some things there to check and isolate why.

    So am I right in thinking that if my secondary pulley has straight diagonal slots it's more performance orientated? Just serviced my xmax and the rear pulley was straight diagonals no wear after 22,000 miles but didn't have the curved slots that So many say are stock.

  • @scooterstreetau

    @scooterstreetau

    Жыл бұрын

    All TD's start off as straight diagonal cuts on the Torque driver shaft, as the driver wears the slot becomes wider and this straight cut start to change in shape having a belly shape on the force side. Both the pins and the shaft cuts will wear. The larger engines have larger components with greater surface area which gives a lower wear rate.

    @@scooterstreetau gottcha 👌 I have the minarelli s/c 125cc, has same transmission as the 250cc so would explain the lack of wear, although it still struggles to change ratio on hills, wonder if my contra spring is cooked, any recommendations on spring colour or just go to a malossi yellow contra? I will watch a couple more times so it sinks in hahaha 😆

    @@liamkenny100 Usually for this issue it can as simple as reducing the roller weight by 10%. The factory rollers in the Xmax 125cc are 20x12mm 10 gram so try the 9 gram (2021> are 20x12 8G). Trial different rollers and see how you go, there will be a best result and it will up to you to find what suits you and your scooter best!😄

    You can replace it with the Malossi outer pulley (the pulley with the slots) which will help. Unfortunately this is just a common problem with the Minarelli engine, so it may happen again over time. This is just the nature of the engine.

    Thanks for your answer. Anyway, I was wondering if using a sandpaper and some polishing cream on the slots where the pins go just to get the surface flat would work instead of buying a new clutch. And can be the springs on the clutch be loosen so that is why it accelerates in low gear instead of high gear?

    @@walterboczula8774 Best to just replace the Torque Driver, Malossi sell this part alone. The issue is the shape of the slots has changed and no longer allows a slow detailed progression of the pins to run. Hey give it a go and let us know how it went..

    The fix was to just buy a new one?? That is not a fix. that is just a solution. I have a Aprilia Leonardo 125cc from 1998. And it has this problem and I have looked at it. Would you know any brand that have interchangeable parts for mine? I know many scooters have a engine number like 139qmb etc but i dont know the number for my engine so its difficult finding the exact part on AliExpress since the Leonardo is not such a common sold bike but it sure has many common parts. I just dont have the number or a different scooter to compare it to wich are kore common like a different brand. Thank you. Im in Norway so im not gonna come by your shop. Im just asking for help. But it's not many results searching Aprilia Leonardo and I was hoping you had some magical book where you could see what interchangeable parts for different brands I could search and buy for my Aprilia. And I was not negative on your video but I thought you als had a nice fix I could do here at home and without buying a new part. ;) So again, do you please have some info about my Aprilia?
