Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Another of the service procedures on a 2014 Yamaha Grizzly 450 ATV. In this video I show you the correct procedure on changing the front diff oil.
In the video I cover the procedure as per the Yamaha Workshop manual for draining the old front diff oil & replacement.
All specifications & torque settings as includes as is the type of oil that needs to be used. I also a couple of tips & tricks that make the job a little easier too...
Any questions or comments just leave them blow and I'll do my best to get back to you shortly...

I can't tell you enough how much I appreciate your work! You explain why you're doing it and how you're doing it and you typically include torque specs. most of the wannabe mechanics on KZread are a joke. Thank you for knowing your stuff!

Hello. Can overfilling rear diff oil cause oil leak above the air filter (in one of those 3 hose) on grizzly 350?

+BrajnLZ yes, the diffs have breather pipes that run up to the air box area. If the diff has too much oil in it as the oil heats up it expands and potentially could be forced up the pipe. Will happen more if bike is used on steep inclines. Hope this helps. Cheers Andy

+Jason Williams check your valve clearance, especially intake valve. If that is okay it could be carbon buildup causing pre-ignition or possibly the ignition timing is out. Andy

any idea what thread is the differential drain bolt? M10? drained the oil and realized the thread is stripped! Damn. Previous owner doing but in fact it was a Yamaha mechanic. way too tight. I did try to careful thread a different bolt taken from the ATV and it went well so i believe it is the bolt thread that is messed up. Even by inspecting the thread with a magnifier i can see the thread ribs is chopped.

Hi Sean, the rear final drive (not a diff as no differential gears) is produced in the US so it's definitely not a metric thread. I'd suggest fitting a Time Sert - these are far superior to the crappy helicoil and designed for regular use. You can buy the kit online or get you local engineer to do the work. You'll have to remove the final drive to do the repair. Hope this is of help. Cheers Andy

@@AndyMechanic Hi Andy it is not in the final gears. its the drain bolt of the front differential. the bolt that has the brass washer (as shown on your video). My ATV is the Kodiak 400 but its quite similar

Ah yes, they are very small threads. From memory something like 7Nm torque! You'll be able to fit a Time Sert just the same :-)
