Thanks for posting this! Not a ton of info out there about the CP60. I had the same issue with my upper pickup not working. Had to de tune the strings to do the repair, but got it working again.

Yeah, it is an interesting piano, haven't really seen any other product quite like this one, and I am sure nothing like it will ever be made again, and if it did, it would probably be way too expensive for anyone to afford.

Found and bought one a couple of weeks ago! And its practically in mint condition, some little esthetical details and one piezo to repair. :) Lovely instrument.

Hello Have you try to bypass the preamps ? I heard this is very good on a CP70.

How many videos do we see of the insides of classic CP pianos? Thank you for this, Scotty.

Cheers, Scotty. Considering the unlikelihood of a 40 year old electric piano like this one being properly repaired that way, I’m glad to know you did it.

@@UOttawaScotty I’d love to see that vid, my man. My CP60 has the same issue (the press-fit connection between the 6th and 7th pickup is out of alignment). If there’s a permanent fix for that issue I’d love to know what it is! 🙏

@@UOttawaScotty Ah thanks! Ok, so there’s no shortcut-gotta loosen the strings. I’ve done a bit of tuning, but I think I better break out the safety goggles and my trusty motorcycle helmet for this one😂

Good video. Mine have a problem with some keys, that when push down the hammer move a little and don't hit the strings. After several hard hits it moves completely. Any idea where to look in the action to fix this? Pls help , I love this piano and want to get it fixed. Thanks

Yeah Hector, it sounds like you have a sticky key, the key is likely sticking on either the balance rail pin, or the front rail pin due to swollen wood and felt around the fit of the pin, this is likely preventing the Jack from fully returning underneath the hammer butt, and so you have to make sure the key moves freely first, and then check that the Jack is fully returning underneath the hammer butt for the keystroke, several thing can cause this problem. Hire any decent Registered Piano Technician and they will be able to fix it for you very quickly

@@UOttawaScotty Not sure, but after all these years later: WD40 sprayed into the Action sped everything up? (It does in traditional action Pianos.)

Figure out the pickup situation? I just got one of these for a song the other day, and it has the same pickup section out... I've done some homework but sounds like to really get in there you need to remove strings, which I'm not inclined to do...

Hey Mike, you know what, I am not really sure what is up with the pickups, but I will tell you that I moved the piano in the winter in Canada, and it was quite cold that day, and by the time it was moved, the pickup started working again, so I think there may have been some kind of expanding and contracting of some of the crystals with the change in temperature. I am not sure where you live, but if its a possibility to leave the piano outside in the winter for a couple hours, and then bring it back into a warm house, then that may or may not help your problem too ? The piano is still working great since I moved it, I never figured out WHY it started working again, but that is my speculation.

Also, if you do end up having to take the string off, its not too bad since all you have to do is lossen them to the point where you can pull the loop off the hitch pin, you wont have to take the strings full "off"

UOttawaScotty yeah I was taking a good look at mine, and I see how right at the split points (actually in 2 places it’s broken) the tiny wires in the pickup chain are probably split apart. when I did the hammer / screwdriver tap-tap trick i can get it to make contact and work for like a second. So yeah Ill probably remove the string and fix it. The highest octave is out too, that one is trickier because the action is in the way...

Hey, I’m trying to repair mine. I was wonder how do you access the electronics near the key bed? I see you have it propped up in the video. I need to access the circuit board and find the faults. Perhaps remove it entirely for this problem. So any tips on getting at that spot would be so greatly appreciated. I do not want to break something trying to get in there without a bit of a guide. Thank you.

Hammers are about the size for mid 1800's Pianos. (Chopin era size so to speak.)

It's now sitting happily in a nice studio in Quyon Quebec. I travell up there about once every two months to service all of their keyboard instruments. I'm a Registered Piano Technician, so I take care of all their pianos, organs, and other weird instruments. This is a really strange creation, but I think it's really cool sounding, and really not as complicated and one may think. Next time I am at the studio. I will do a bit of an update on the status of the CP60. One thing I will say though, make sure the keyboard is propped up nice and tightly, because if there is any play in the keyboard part, it will mess with the playability pretty badly, just a matter of adjusting the props

@@UOttawaScotty Great! I look forward to said update and thanks for the tip, I'll keep that in mind. I'm no registered tech but I know my way around Rhodes and Wurlis (About the only guy in my country who specialises in Wurlitzer EP's) so this is an interesting branch to explore for me.
