Derrick always amazes me. His ability to build a groove that is so gentle, is fenomenal.
How genuine that the drummer confesses he still takes classes. What an authentic musician, no show-off!!

It's good to see. Neil Peart started taking lessons even though people had been calling him the world's best drummer for years. Many famous opera singers take lessons long into their careers.

That's Derrick! He IS one of the nicest and humble human beings around. I've met him several times and actually he got me into the backstage Areas to meet the Maestro himself, Jason. I love this Band to bits. But to be honest, the old stuff is really my time and joy of them, that Acid Jazz Funk Pop was just the shit for me! I hope their next Album will be more of that style, I reaally hope so. #Jamiroquai4Ever ❤🍀🙏🏼☀👏🏼

agreed. They say drummers are more intelligent than most and they say that left-handed people are more intelligent than most, so D-Man is WAY SMART...hahahaha

Over the last 40 years I have seen one or two gigs . I have only seen two other Keyboard players who could match Matt pound for pound Stevie Wonder (Isle of Wight) and Gill Scott Heron (Sheffield leadmill) . The guy really is next level..Definitely my favourite working musician .

And synthist!
they play as if they were actually only one person. its really that damn good.
This just show why I love you guys so much. You’re THE sound of Jamiroquai. No mistake!
This is exactly the type of sound Jamiroquai needs to get back to! Otherwise I'd love an album with instrumentals like these from these three guys! Good music needs to be spontaneous and heartfelt, and this goes lost if it's overdone when you work on the same songs for months and months... And that's I guess why I really liked these three songs!

Why did they walk away from this jam-sound…. It’s crazy. That had it all.

@@mogglie im pretty sure jay kay liked disco and electronic music more than this type of music, and jamiroquai is "jay's band". Otherwise, many other bands have this sound, you only have to search. I reccomend searching on acid jazz records catalogue
Great ! Old school Jamiroquai style. Timeless music.
Why did it took me over two years and a pandemic time to find this?????
16:18 I can't stop watching Derrick making that "slow-mo" pause.
That was fantastic, as if a Jamiroquai and Herbie Hancock/Headhunters concert we’re melded together…
Derrick McKenzie is a drummers drummer, besides J the one constant in what makes Jamiroquai what it is. I never get tired of hearing him play.
derrick's riff starting at 14:58 is out of this world...simply amazing craftsmanship.
I can watch this a billion times and still feel the same level of excitement.
Derrik McKenzie its amazing.
I’m a keys player and a composer. I’ve always drawn influence from this band since I first discovered them 25 years ago. Just love what they do. Solid musicians.
The first tune's chord progression has been constantly playing in my head ever since this video came out sheesh...
Yeah..class in a glass...this is crystal and as smooth as the velvety chocolate can be to this palettes taste. Beautifully played Beautifully arranged Beautifully given Beautiful sound Beautiful all around Beautiful how this got driven. Thank you guys for sharing it . Quite a divine piece xx
Great performance. Absolutely lovely to hear the original Jamiroquai sound.
This is what is called musicality. It's beautiful music.
This is so mellow. Perfect. Matt Johnson really is a proper virtuoso. Watch him play 2nd half on the Jamiroquai Montreux video of Soul Education. Blows me away.
All talented musicians, beautiful music. Good to see Paul smile, usually he has that very focused look.
Gosh this was so good thank you for doing this Yamaha
So much groove! love it! thanks!
I love the way Matt Johnson plays.... wow!
The Backbone of Jamiroquai. Nice they have a platform to expand their collective musical prowess. Q & A - Love hearing Paul playing "Fast Persuader"
Derrick McKenzie, the last man standing. ( well sitting)

Fuji Wags , yeah Jamiroquai is definitely a completely different band now, and as much as I miss the old lineup, Paul Turner and Steve Harris are no slouches. Hey , check out their side project, Trioniq . Pretty good stuff.

Zender turned into an absolute weirdo. Or maybe he always was and we didn’t know? Anyway, Jamiroquai has always been experimental. Saying only one person contributed to the sound is ignorant. Paul is easily the best bassist from a technical standpoint.
First track became Venus Rising on Matt Johnson's most recent album 💙

There is something eclectically incredible listening to these 3 guys playing together - mesmerising!
Fantastique Session from this fabulous Trio. Jamiroquai for ever !!!
It’s hard to give this justice in a KZread comment. Sounds sooo good. I love it.
I could listen to this all night and day. What incredible musicians and what a beautiful sound they create!
It's beautiful to make a click having the chance to listen to these professional talented musicians in such a healing sound session. Thanks to you masters!
I have to say it - this is my favourite band and has been for many many years. These guys are tight!
This has got to be one of the tastiest videos I’ve seen in a while. I just had an ear-gasm!
paul tuner es una fuerza inamovible, que bajista tan bueno, un sonido organico, con medios potentes y graves redondos, ese sonido a pura madera en el bajo
The production is beautiful, what a joy to hear these guys jamming like that!! Steve gadd drum sound all day long!! 🤟
Just beautiful. Got Matts latest album in vinyl and it is an absolute delight. Follow all his synth vids etc. Just an amazing player, humble too and happy to share knowledge.
Superb musicians !!! Thank you for the music !!!
Hmmm, this is the Jamiroquai i fell in love with and has been one of the main influences in my love of music. This is just great...and i will say no more❤
Bit late to this, but wow. Like stepping back in time to Azymuth and Pieces Of a Dream. I like it a lot

The first song sounds like music in a good dream. It reminds me of a lovely dream i had once of my late best friend and the late Andy (a rabbit) and my husband. we were all together and my best friend lived in this lovely house with an unusual city view. This music fits with it.

Wow top musicians here!
Master Mckenzie!
Grandes mestres! Só feras! Gratidão!
Three great musicians with their feet still firmly on the ground.
Tout simplement Excellent !!!
love the japanese jazz/city pop vibes, wonderful performance.. :D
Que buena mezcla, se escucha todo parejo, siempre tienden a subir mucho la batería. Esto suena a música real
I miss Stu Zender (and that era of the band,1st and 2d albums) so much...but this session comforts me, they are still up to play something else than simple basic pop stuff.
Great stuff. I'm jamming along.
love the vibe!
The drums sound so exquisite!!!!

Automaton is in my top 3 of albums of Jamiroquai. And the reason ... the musicians Derik, Matt, and Paul.

Pure beauty!
Those ghost notes are sublime
This is butter smooth.
I saw Jamiroquai at Ormond's; a tiny night club in Picadilly, London, in 1993 - just before they got big. JK had flu and croaked his way through one song before giving up. The others: Toby Smith (RIP) keyboards, Stuart Zender bass and Nick van Gelder drums just jammed. Great gig.
Thes guys are smokin', just stellar. I hope Jay Kay appreciates them? I lost a lot of respect for him telling us to get an untested medical procedure 2-3 years back.
I'm a fan of Jamiroquai from 1993, recently i miss this feeling when J.K. is arround (if you know what i meen), this sound was a trade mark of JQai and despite the evolution of the band they should concider to try to get it back into the music!
