Chrissy was very shy, her on stage persona was a completely different thing, she was a true entertainer. The way Amber got lost in the song when the second verse hit...she gets it. For me, this song really gives you the perspective of how love/lust/sex are all entangled together for a woman. I was in high school when this song came out and it was such a breath of fresh air - we had had so much male-driven "sexy" rock, to have her say "I love myself and I want you to love me" and follow that up by unapologetically singing the title was such a female empowerment declaration in the landscape of music at that time. And, by your reactions, I can see that it remains as potent now as then. I respect this song so much because she is owning all of herself and doesn't have a moment to waste on shame. I recommend follow ups from Divinyls as "Science Fiction," "Pleasure and Pain," and "Boys in Town." RIP Chrissy Amphlett - lost and gone far too soon.

Chrissy Amphlett was a true tour de force of Aussie music, and is greatly missed. She sadly died of breast cancer 10 years ago, and was unable to get chemo therapy due to also suffering from MS. she and her husband, though, agreed this song should be used to raise awareness of breast cancer, and has been used to that end by the Breast Cancer Council, with all proceeds from the song going towards cancer research. So, despite Jay’s embarrassment, this song has most likely actually saved lives by being used to promote the early detection of breast cancer. While I Touch Myself is probably The Divinyls’ best known song, and was a worldwide hit, they do have even better ones. Boys In Town, Science Fiction, Pleasure and Pain, I’m Jealous, and Elsie are all amazingly great songs (Elsie best experienced with a live performance). I certainly hope you explore Chrissy and The Divinyls further, despite Jay’s blushes!
Oh, love you guys hahaiii! Listened to this song as a teenager, and blushed just like you. This song and Pleasure and Pain by the divinyls was all over the radio, a different time.
Divinyls had some great songs featured on soundtracks. " Back to the Wall" was featured on A Nightmare on elm street the dream master. "Ain't gonna eat out my heart" was featured in the movie version of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and "Jealous" was featured on the Melrose Place Music soundtrack. All great songs

@@destineydevereux4722 The difference is one is classier than the other. I was just thinking about this today how the previous generations knew how to have fun as much as today's generations, but the difference with sexuality is that they preferred to be sexually suggestive instead of being blunt about it. I prefer when there's something left to the imagination, instead of falling into full blown promiscuity and degeneracy.
This song rules for 2 reasons; 1.)She is 100% confident in who she is(that is very sexy) 2.)when she describes her 'guy' there is no mention of his physique(and for those of us who don't spend 4+ hours in the gym each day, that sounds good)

For your information. Chrissy Amphlet was the cousin of Patricia Amphlet, aka Little Patty. Little Patty was huge in Australia in the 1960s. She was the youngest performer, at 17 to perform for troops in Vietnam. She was rushed off stage as Viet Cong troops attacked Long Tan only a few kilometres away. Chrissy Amphlet was seen as the bad girl of Australian rock but in private life she was a reserved and shy person. Check out Pleasure and Pain, one of the Divinyls' best. The song should be the anthem against domestic violence.
Song partly written by Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly who also wrote: Like A Virgin, Alone, Sex As A Weapon. Billy likes to put in spicey lyrics.

Hahaha! My sister was around that age and I was 5 or 6. I remember us being in the car and this song coming on. My sister started singing this at full force 😂 my mom couldn't turn the radio off quick enough and was saying " NO NO NO! Not a nice song!"

Yes in the grocery store that's not good. Sure some folks might have been wondering gee sweetie what been you listening to.
I love to see you all speechless! ROFLMAO!😅😅😊
Rob: please let this be over already. Amber: loving every second.
What a talent Chrissie was. This was a huge hit for her.😊
Rob, you facial expression was perfect!!!!!!😎😝😂 Let's get it!💪👍👀
Without a shadow of a doubt, this is the best one ever! That look that Jordan gave Amber when she read the song's title? PRICELESS!!! 😂 Love you guys!

@@EverydayEvan Oh, she did - I think she still listens to it - on headphones. 😂
It was on the radio and mtv constantly when it came out
Kids, back on the day, this song was so scandalous, many radio stations tried to ban it from airwaves. I LOVED it from the first time I heard it, and I’m planning to put in in my band’s set list for the next round, haha! I love your reaction to it. Yeah, we had our wild side too….
My era yet again, the 80s were epic!! I want Level 42 Something about you 😁😁😁😁
Most hilarious music reactions ever. Jay made us laugh so hard. Being a conservative Christian kid with conservative Christian friends, we sang this a lot, because we thought it was touching your face or maybe shoulder. I didn’t realize what it actually meant until I was older 😂

Boys in Town, Pleasure and Pain, Science Fiction. Three more Divnyls songs for you.
You have to play. Pleasure and pain. Absolute classic divinyls
Oh we had songs. 😂. When my generation starts on today's music lyrics I love to remind them of what we were singing 😆
"I Touch Myself" peaked @ #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1991.

Yesss that's right - I thought it was the 90's!
Chrissy was amazing. One of my favourite songs. She is sadly missed 😢
Another song by the Divinyls that you should take a listen to is "Pleasure and Pain." That song is a stunner and a completely different vibe. In that performance Chrissy is very defiant and not at all playful.
I love this song, R.I.P Chrissy. Every time I hear this song all I can do is think of it being played in Austin Powers: International man of mystery, they certainly picked the right song for the scene it was in
The Divinyls were actually a fantastic band. You should give "Boys in Town" and "Pleasure and Pain" and "Bullet" a try.

And I'm Jealous
I saw them live way back in 1985 & Chrissy was amazing
It's from an iconic Australian band. We say our point and let you know honestly where we stand. And when this song came on, my partner played it up big time. Until this song came out, I never thought a woman would do this. I learnt many things in the 80's. Even did security work for them at one stage. RIP Chrissy
my favorite reaction!!!!! when she sings, " I'd go down on my knees, I'd do anything for you" that's when I saw Jay's face turn red. His face was priceless!!!!
We are called GenX. And we are here.❤
in the 90s wasnt taboo at all.. played on radio all the time
I've always loved everything about this song. What a beautiful voice she had!
This song definitely got some stern looks and side eye from the older folks back in the day.
Amber was digging it.....Jay was beside himself! 😂 This song was a hit in the dance club scene! Packed dance floors were had.....and we didn't keep our distance! 😏

In Australia Chrissy Amplette was considered to be the Queen of Rock.
Dear Christine Joy Amphlett is an angel now - RIP - you were much loved.
Chrissy Amphlett! Aussie legend. This song gave everyone what they wanted from her. Haha. Not many others could have been so brazen. She's friggin' awesome.
Chrissy, the original bad girl of rock. Love you Chrissy RIP mate miss you ❤🇦🇺 She donated this song to breast cancer research when she passed away unfortunately from breast cancer. A true Aussie legend.

No knock against Chrissy, but the original bad girl of rock was Wanda Jackson. Check her out and you'll see what I mean.

You better love this song! They've been here for years. We all touch ourselves! I won karaoke 2 time.
This song was very popular. We didn't mess around with our intentions back in the day.
Jordan you had me ROLLING! Your expressions had me literally laughing out loud. And Amber at the beginning your laughing at Jordan’s reaction. Y’all are the best!
RIP Chrissy thanks for the memories we love you. Peace out.
This song is over thirty years old. Chrissy Amphlett was a great singer and frontwoman - RIP, check out the rest of their discography - great band.
Great song great band good times, be at peace Chrissy very much missed ❤️ Australia
Calling it now, Jay's face as he says _"NOTHIN' like this!"_ promises this will be a reaction for the ages. And me knowing the song, I guarantee this is gonna be fun. 🤣 EDIT: Alright, if we're going to get into the "lyrics like" thing, try Aerosmith's cover of *_"Big Ten Inch Record,"_* a cover of a 1952 song recorded by Bull Moose Jackson. You read that right...1952. Dare ya. 😁
