i was looking to get D9S but it have 6500mAh battery with bigger screen & that mean the battery will not last long without charging! while the D8W 10000mAh with small screen & i was disappointed! thats was really weird for me! but still D8 is a beast. Xtool nailed it with their tools awesome features & subscription & prices! i bought D8W & it's in the way. 43

I went with the D8BT version and your concerns about are correct. I really wanted the wireless though. Also, the tablet can run when connected to the AC adapter, and (I just tried it) can also be charged with the USB interface while operating. I do think it is a shame the cable will not work with the BT version despite having to socket, and the wired version cannot connect to a dongle (like the A30M). The best setup would allow either BT or corded.

It’s a shame XTOOL didn’t think of this (or they did, and used it for a strategic purpose beyond me) - but yes, you’re right on having it wired via AC adapter or USB. Time will tell how good the battery is on this unit.

I've ordered the D9 but haven't received it yet so I'm researching more about XTOOL. So on the D8bt the bt dongle doesn't get its power from the vehicle? I thought it would because I've seen a couple of videos talking about plugging the wired D8 in and it getting power from the vehicle.

Actually, if you you buy the xtool obd link cable, it charges like a standard D8. 👍

The Xtool D9 Version can be used with a cord from the BT unit to the OBD2 port so even if the battery fails in the BT unit you can still use the tool

I like my D8 even though it's not that good for vehicles pre-2010. The corded D8 has to be used with an adapter to plug into the OBD2 socket which makes that connector heavy and about 6 inches long. It can fall out while driving easily. It's also in the way of your Left foot which is not good. Also been told that the BT speed is a good bit slower than the cable speed. Like others point out a D8 with BOTH BT and Cord would be ideal.

On auto scan I did same with topdon it died so was thinking of buying d8 so am running away any recommendation hows I carsoft

You can connect with the dongle and tablet with USB. Which gives power. No need to get corded version based on power fear.

I've seen this demonstrated in detail on the D9.

The D9 has the topology of how the modules are lay out unlike the D8. My pocket money was only enough for the D8 but even the D7 is nice.

Great video. My gauge cluster went out on my 05 silverado. I need to pull the actual total milage from the computer to have the company repairing the cluster to program it in. How do I get the total milage and which unit will get that info for me?

The d9 is your best bet for that, it does have that functionality - but if you want to be 100% certain I would email XTOOL and confirm it will read the 05 Silverado ecu. The feature isn’t always supported on all cars.

You might be able to do it using the XTOOL EZ500 but I would still confirm with XTOOL directly via email - give them your VIN and they will let you know if it's compatible.

My D8 auto scan finds all the vehicle info and vin every time in 30 seconds or so.

Has anyone done ecu code change with the D9 on bmw..? I just want to turn off the anoying passanger setbelt chime when no pasanger but detects some weight of objects 😂..

Can you recommend the cheapest device that can tell me the real mileage of my salvage 2018 Ford Transit Mid roof van? It looks suspiciously brand new with only 60K miles on it.

The D9 will write VIN’s but I can’t confirm it works with all vehicles - but we use it here in the shop without issue. I used it last week to write to a Chevy Colorado after replacing PCM. Another safe bet is Autel Maxisys Elite, we have this scanner as well but it’s an expensive setup. The Maxisys usually does it all.

D8 does not do fuel trim reset and couple of other services. D9 does.

It does actually it all comes down to what each car allows fuel trim reset will be in special functions .

I can’t comment for aftermarket endoscope, but the process after you plug in the XTOOL scope is to navigate to the CAMERA app -> Click the button on top right corner to show more functions -> Click the button that changes the orientation of the camera (rear facing camera, endoscope). When you click the button to change the orientation, the endoscope should be the next option after rear facing camera. The XTOOL d8 doesn’t react when you plug in the scope, you need to manually go into the camera app to enable it.

💯 % agree with you on the battery 🪫 thing There are many things I will not buy because of that issue , it might be a different story if at least you were able to easily replace the battery 🔋 when it begins to fail or have the option to plug 🔌 it into power. . Thanks for sharing.

If my D9 bluetooth is dead, I just walk over and plug it in....not a bad thing really. Easier than trying to drag a cord over to the vehicle.

No, you can’t reprogram any modules with this.

Just bought the BT and it has wiring capabilities as well it just does not come with the cable.

@@bofbolts that makes no sense why they would do that plus it takes a lot of extra effort to do that when they could just add the BT capability to this version Over the regular version instead of creating a whole new special item. How do you know they did that and what would be the point of the wiring port if that is the case?

@@justinnorton4308 it makes no sense at all, agreed totally! Directly from XTOOL - they’ve confirmed to me the port does not supply power to the unit on the BT model. Many owners have confirmed this as well. And vice versa, you cannot buy the Bluetooth dongle for the wired version even though it has Bluetooth capability.

I thought the D8 could perform ECU coding on Fords.

I purchased the D7 in March worked OK until December it died opened it up to see what was wrong with it it had been repaired in three different places a ribbon cable come completely off that is too tiny to be resoldered do not buy xtool their warranty is terrible well let's just say you don't have one if anybody reads this and doubts my word go to my KZread

That’s a shame, it should most definitely last more than 1 year. I believe the units have a 5 year warranty. XTOOL will hopefully get back to you because they need to stand behind their product!
