Best Bi-Directional Scan Tool? XTOOL D8BT Unboxing, Setup, Walkthrough, & First Impressions

After buying a newer car that needed a remote programmed to it, uses TPMS sensors, and just has a lot more technology packed into it, I decided to buy a bi-directional scan tool. My prior scan tool was a cheap Hyper Tough dongle that connects to your phone to scan any trouble codes, clear codes, and do oil life resets. I figured I'd rather have cheap portable scan tool over having to hope one of the master techs at a parts store could scan it for me but I decided I would also like to upgrade to a bi-directional model so I can perform TPMS relearns, program remotes, and basically be future-proofed for the light diagnostic and mechanical work I might need to perform on my current and future vehicles. This XTOOL model seems to be able to do many of the functions of thousand dollar diagnostic tools at a fraction of the price and seems to have good reviews across the board for their various models so I decided it would be worth the money to have a quality scan tool. In this video I cover the unboxing, setup, and first impressions of using the tool so you can decide if this model is capable of what you need in a scan tool and show how the user interface works.

Hi, in setting section, can you tell me the version of your vci please ? I have vci81 with firmware version : 32775, is it the same for you ?
How does the record function work to record everything displayed on screen?

Do you have to pay every year in order for this OBD reader to work ? If you dont pay does that still work ? Do you need to have internet to used it ? If you don't updates does that still work without updates ? Out from the box can you used it without wifi or internet ? Can this scan for Fuel Pressure ? And can this scan for compression test ? Is this a Complete diagnostic Scan tools ?does it Scan from 1996 cars going up ? How about Toyota Camry 2001 2.2 Liter 4 Cyl or Buick Park Ave 2003 3.8 Liter does it Scan these cars ? Does this scan for battery ignition parameters ? Does it Scan for a bad head gaskets ?

It receive all update for free for the first 3 years. If you don't pay afterward then you won't get any new updates but the tool itself still works and will work on all cars from that date and prior. It should work fine without an internet connected but I'd recommend fully updating it befor the first use even if you never connect it to wifi again. It should be able to do just about any test and monitor that an obd 2 system is capable of. I have a 1995 Crown Victoria and it works with it.
