I have a 1988 XT600 with less than 9000 miles on it. Garage kept. With Super Trapp exhaust system. I’m going to repaint the frame, tank, and refinish the plastic. Your video gives me drive to do mine. 👍🏻

I preferred the 84 up to 87-88 the red - white the 6 gear model blue 1 had e start but you couldn't put after market pipes on it well they didn't makem back then for it it just wasn't the same bike they made the xt 350 the same up till 95 I think gotta remember I'm talikn Ontario - Canada I no different places they got different model's etcetc but hear cut off 1990-91 I think they didn't make 1 for approx. 3-4 years then they came out with that blue 1 the older 5 gear could of used a 6th or a taller 5th it seemed like it was gonna blow on the hwy I lit a cigarette off of 1 once that's how hot it was air cooled they got hot 20 - 40 yamalube I ran in mine changed it every 4 thousand max if they had a semi back then like a 15 40or 15-50 would of ran that don't think they did

Das Ergebnis sieht echt gut aus. Dazu braucht man nicht nur gutes Werkzeug und ne Werkstatt sondern auch Ahnung. Besonders im Motorbereich und die Kabelwirtschaft

there is an adjuster screw in the middle of the decomp cable. Free play of the decomp lever should be approx 2mm

My model is 2kf. There never was an e-starter on it. First normal XT600 with E-starter was 3tb from late 1990/91 to 2000something...

My 1VJ start only with "start pilot" gas even if the the gasoline go to the carburator bowl (I cleaned all of it and I bought the special kit) but without start pilot gas impossible to start the engine. Do you know why ? Thank you in advance for the help ( I don't know what to do)

I don´t know exactly, it was arround 2 years and i spend way to much money. It´s nothing worth it, you make no deal when you make such restauration only for selling the bike... But it was fun and that is the main thing.

Hi friend. Is that smoke after starting up normal? I restored one and when it starts up a lot of smoke comes out of the exhaust pipe

If you installed the piston with lots of oil (which is good) then you have big smoke right after the first start but it should disappear after seconds. If you have always smoke after start then something is wrong...

hope one day you,ll make a detailed video xt 600 restauration. Not a 10 minutes video but a 10 hours video or whatever it takes you to restore it. no cuts or fast foward. we would love to see the proccess step by step in real time. you can cut the video in 10 pieces one hour each or something. it would be awesome.thanks

Hi, danke. Der Zug der entgegengesetzt zum Dekozug weg geht?? Es gibt an der Stelle nur einen Zug (Dekozug) der geht von unten vom Kickermechanismus nach oben zum Ventildeckel um dort drinnen beim kicken im richtigen Augenblick ein Auslassventil zu betätigen. Autodeko genannt.

Wo kann ich eine Liste finden mit all den Arbeitsschritten und Teilen die für so eine Arbeit nötig sind? Wie viele Stunden habt ihr daran gearbeitet? Was sind die Kosten für so eine Restauration?

Eine Liste mit allen Arbeitsschritten für eine komplette Restauration meinst du??? Mein Gott wieviele Tausend Seiten sollte die denn haben? :-) Da ich fast alles selber mache ausser Zylinder hohnen sind da wohl so 250 Stunden drin. Bei den Kosten kommt es stark auf den Zustand des Materials an. In der blauweissen stecken ca 1800 Euro und es fehlt noch eine neue Sitzbank und Edelstahlspeichen. Wenn man alles macht kommt man nur sehr sehr schwer unter 2500 Euro, lohnt sich also eigentlich garnicht...

Hi Mandricity,ich habe ein Xt 600 2kf mit 58.000 km gekauft was gemacht wurde und ob uberhaupt das motor schon geöffnet wurde (keine rote oder schwarze paste zu sehen) weiss der vorbesitzer nicht.Er hatte nur seid ein ja (da motorrad ist von '89 also 30 jahre alt.Sehr schwer die ganze geschischte zu kennen. Er hat gar keine werkstatt-reschnung,weiss imprensiv,garnichts. Das motor kling gut aber 58000 fur ein einzylinder sind recht viel. Da ich von Hannover nach Italien fahren will wunderte mich ob es zu empfehlen ist mit ein motor denn ich garnicht kenne. Was wurdest du machen ausser ölwechsel,ölfilter und luftfilter? (bremse sind ok) Einfach zu werkstatt bringen und fur check up oder aus sicherheit irgendwelche bestimmte teil tauschen? Kuplung ist ok und steuerkette macht keine gereuche

Yeah. Well, that is a good answer. I have a repairman friend who advised me about the selection of second hand motorbikes. His advise was not to buy anything with more than 40 000 km on the clock. Thank you for the response.

Your XT is a model 1998 but your engine is based on a construction from the 70´ It has to be vibrating. ;-)

Richtig anschliessen? Oder komplett zerlegen und revidieren? Beim anschliessen gibts doch nicht so viele Möglichkeiten. Gasseile, Benzinschlauch links aussen, 2 Überlaufschläuche mitte u unten...

@@Mandricity Genau, mir ging es jetzt nur um das anschließen. Denn meine XT wurde 1999 stillgelegt, und stand jetzt ca. 10 Jahre bei uns im Schuppen. Ich habe mir die jetzt als Projekt vorgenommen bis ich meinen A2 Schein 2021 machen werde. Der Vergaser war schon ausgebaut und dann habe ich den erstmal gereinigt. Weil ich den halt nicht selber ausgebaut habe, weiß ich natürlich auch nicht genau wie und wo der denn angeschlossen werden muss. Am Wochenende habe ich versucht sie anzukicken aber der Vergaser lässt scheinbar kein Benzin durch. Aber immerhin wollte sie starten, als wir Bremsenreiniger bei offenem Vergaser reingesprüht haben und das ist schon mal erfreulich nach 20 Jahren Standzeit. Also werde ich mir glaube ich noch mal den Vergaser vornehmen müssen. Gruß

Stimmt es das die ansaugstutzen ab 1996 bei der xt verändert worden sind kleinere Durchmesser als bei einer 98er bj? Wenn ja woher bekommt man welche von einer xt 600 96er Baujahr? :o

I think he replaced the plastic parts.... I've been tryin' so hard to make them shine on my 2KF but there's no way.... I tried almost every product to restore plastic parts but none of them worked :-(((

Hi. I don´t replaced the plastics. I also tried so many products to let them shine but it was all crap. In the end i made an experiment with my hot air gun and that worked very good! Just use it like a paint gun. The surface melt a little and after that the plastics are nearly new. But be careful!

I'll try.... a friend of mine has a hot air gun with a digital display showing working temperatures, could you please suggest a range of temperature to prevent melting? I am so scared to make damages....

The only way is: full power! The surface should melt a little bit! You have to use it like a paint spraygun, very short and never hold on a spot. You can see the surface get shiny in the second you hold it.
