Unfortenatly there is no THAT place to measure the RIGHT temp. You could mount the sensor in the return hose to tank. That is a little bit tricky but not impossible. I have a 3TB it smokes at startup (a bit) then it clears out. The oil return valve with a ball and spring ? When it's really hot I get a slight smoke on decceleration also ... Don't know if I should start a rebuild just yet ... Your advice ?
@Mandricity
5 жыл бұрын
Little smoke at startup could be a sticking oil scraper ring. Smoke at deceleration is mostly worn out valve shaft seal. If the consumption is 1 litre oil on 1000km than you can think of a rebuild.

Great job mate! It's nice to watch this how easy you are doing this. You are profesional so would you help me or give me some advice with my xt 600? I've got a problem with leaking part of crankcase, because the chain broke. Do you think it is possible to weld or something? Oterwise I have to change both of crankcase and do the same job like you do on the movie, but I do not have that knowledge;( This broken part is where the oil goes to the alternator on the top.Thank you in advance.p.s. is it possible to send you a picture of this broken part of crankcase?
@Dave.S.TT600
5 жыл бұрын
why don't you try 'Liquid Metal' two part paste..or a (JB WELD) type product. You have nothing much to lose, to try it. and..use a good 520 chain next time and have it correctly tensioned using the Workshop manual specs. Chain tension is taken with No Rider on the bike. PS- Liquid Metal or JB Weld is very, very good and could possibly be a 20,000 km or more solution.
@Mandricity

Unfortunately not, I´m sorry.
what a meditation .
Hi there Mandricity! Do you know if a newer 4PT gearbox will fit in a 3TB engine? I´m having the 5th gear problem and i have a spare 4PT engine and i was tinking in striping the 4PT and use its gearbox in my 3TB. Great job i will follow this tutorial tho rebuild my 3TB.

I don´t know really but all XT600 engines are very similar and in the same time there are small differences inbetween a single model in case of gearboxes. conclusion: give it a try...

really nice video, i was wondering, where did you get tightening torques ? I think i need to change clutch soon and i could use some tips about tightening torgues on the XT 600 E (2003) if you have any. Regards, Alen
Could you tell me the torque specs on the 2 front valve cover plugs? I cannot seem to find those in my workshopmanual or on the internet, and i see you using a torque wrench on them.

I have a 3TB it smokes at startup (a bit) then it clears out. The oil return valve with a ball and spring ? When it's really hot I get a slight smoke on decceleration also ... Don't know if I should start a rebuild just yet ... Your advice ?
@Mandricity
5 жыл бұрын
Little smoke at startup could be a sticking oil scraper ring. Smoke at deceleration is mostly worn out valve shaft seal. If the consumption is 1 litre oil on 1000km than you can think of a rebuild.
Nice vedo sir
Great job mate! It's nice to watch this how easy you are doing this. You are profesional so would you help me or give me some advice with my xt 600? I've got a problem with leaking part of crankcase, because the chain broke. Do you think it is possible to weld or something? Oterwise I have to change both of crankcase and do the same job like you do on the movie, but I do not have that knowledge;( This broken part is where the oil goes to the alternator on the top.Thank you in advance.p.s. is it possible to send you a picture of this broken part of crankcase?

why don't you try 'Liquid Metal' two part paste..or a (JB WELD) type product.
@Mandricity

would advice the same. JB Weld works!
Amazing quality videos! It's ok if the answer is no, but could you list all the tools needed. I recently purchased a 1989 XT600 and would like to be prepared for the upcoming months of restoration. Thank you.

Very satisfying to watch this rebuilding! Just one question... Why do you use thread locker inside the engine? The generated heat wouldn’t melt it? Thank you!! 👌🏻

Super Arbeit! Zwei Fragen: 1. Was ist das für eine graue Paste, die du auf Zylinder und Motorblock aufgetragen hast? 2. Muss man für den Zylinderkopf irgendeine Dichtmasse verwenden?
@Mandricity

Das ist eine normale Motorendichtungsmasse, in diesem Fall von Ducati aber alle anderen funktionieren auch. Für den Zylinderkopf muss man das nicht wenn die Flächen eben und top in Ordnung sind

Hi Mandricity, great work!! I have a question: where did you buy the object for flywheel lock at minute 9:12? Many thanks.

It´s an ordinary C-wrench or so called hook spanner. I think i bought it on a toolshop years ago. It has to be for a diameter of 150mm
How much torque did you use for the screws?
Any info on the nonabrasive lubricant, thread lock & gasket sealant you used? Thanks

Hello dear friend. How long you think a person takes do assembly the engine? Of course you probably do it in 1 morning or a bit more only but an unexperienced person would take what? 2 days? 3?

You talking about XT600E (1991 to 20xx)? The bike itself isn´t that expensiv. They start maybe at 500€ but restore the whole one can be between500 and 2500 ontop. Depens on the condition of engine, Wheels, wearparts... etc You never know...
