It seems that the beastly router in this lineup was the lesser produced XR700. It somehow has better signal and improved range over the XR1000, LOL. I guess that is why Netgear was asking for around $700 for it. It supposedly costed them the most to manufacture, hence the extreme price and thus quick discontinuation from Netgear. But if you got one, then you got a router that should last you well over a decade (although that may be cut a little short with WiFi 7 routers - which are just upgraded 6E routers with crazy good signal range) releasing within the next 6 months. So, with that said, I would NOT purchase an XR1000. If I was you, I would wait for a WiFi 7 router that runs DumaOS if you want good gaming packet QoS and prioritization. But, of course, there might not be a DumaOS WiFi 7 router for another 12-24 months... =(
