XPEL Ultimate Plus vs STEK DYNOshield- WATCH ME DESTROY THIS BENZ TRUNK - Self Healing - Damage test

The Paint Protection Film comparison | XPEL vs STEK. Which is better?????
I've been working with XPEL for quite some time now and know that this film is hands down one of the best on the market, if not the best. But with all this buzz around STEK, I had to try it out. Recently at the shop we wrapped a 2019 G63 AMG in STEK DYNOshield, and I was pretty impressed. Clarity was great, great hydrophobics on it, glue was forgiving to even allow novice installers apply it properly, it was strong enough not to lift around edges.... heck.... it had all the qualities I look for in PPF to recommend to my customers.
So I decided to do a test on my own project car, a 2000 Mercedes Benz SL500. The trunk that I did this test on is being replaced, as it had rust around the 3rd brake light, and is bent around one of the corners. I have a perfect condition trunk already, so i really don't care what happens to this trunk. Perfect painted surface to do a test like this.
This is some random testing I did between the XPEL and STEK DYNOshield PPF. I applied two pieces of each protective film side by side and did the same tests on both.
EDIT**** The XPEL sandpaper did NOT come out with the heatgun, even though I said it did in the video. It was difficult for me to see as I was looking at the camera's viewfinder. Both films performed amazing!
Hope you guys enjoy the video.

Stek is by far the best in the industry. It's like butter to install and has incredable stretch. As for rock chips, when 3m pro series and xpel ultimate take a bad rock chip it rips out a chip size chunk of film with it. Stek rock chips don't do this because it's less rigid than other films and has more give. I have had no warranty claims since switching over to Stek a year ago... none! Also, using a torch over a heat gun is a great way to remove scratches faster and more effectively but only if done by an experienced installer as to not burn through film and paint. Informative video. That screwdriver was frightening though!

Careful if you get Xpel products anywhere. The main company does NOT stand behind its product with its so called life time warranty on its tint or its dealers (or customers for that matter.) I had to go thru mediation and threaten to sue them just to get a refund on the brutal issues I had with one of their dealers that damaged my car and did a piss poor job. The tint they used also was not optically clear and had an orange peel to it.

You can double-stack the PPF in high-impact areas and you could just replace the second layer as needed. The one at the bottom should last some 10 years, I'd argue.

@@creamfalcon absolutely. A top grade PPF will have hydrophobic self healing properties build in. Not only will a coating not add much to the PPF in my experience it doesn’t bond well to PPF either as the PPF is designed to resist bonding of foreign materials.

  • @AELiev
