Thanks so much for doing this video. Followed your instructions so you saved me getting oil all over the tyres. Refreshing to do a quick job that actually ends up being a quick job. My old oil was filthy black and the crush washers stuck like buggery to the head of the screws. Bit of penetration oil and got the worst off and I have reused them because I am a skin flint too

Hi Alex. On the final drive I use hyp90 hypoid gear oil.. 80w-90. But on the engine I use sae 20w 40 four-stroke oil.

Always take/loosen top bolt off first, before draining oil out. Buggered if top up does not loose after ya have drained oil out👍. Nice video fella👍

Hi dave. I think you mean the little round metal cap right at the top of the final drive, mine is is leaking very slightly too I think it's because they rust and the bigger the rusty pin holes get the more it starts to leak. I have tried to take mine off but can't work out how it is removed and I don't want to damage it. But if it gets to bad I will find a oil resistant filler and try that.

Top tip, ALWAYS undo the filler plug first (as you did). If you undo the drain plug first then find the filler is stuck fast, you have a bit of a problem on your hands and an immobilised vehicle.

Hi. I'm not familiar with that brand of oil, I use the (oil type) API grade SE,SF or SG . (oil viscosity) SAE 10W40 or 20w40. 👍

Cool to know that someone succeed those things without all problems first. I have Xj900F 58L and yes I did also some oil exchange. I learned atleast 3 problems by doing so. First I got to know that final drive oil will come out from breathing cap if there's any excess oil. Another thing was intresting. I used Petronas Syntium 800 10W40 semi syntheric as motor oil and it seems to be way too "water", since gear switch started to feel like hard and it was not easy to switch to neutral and also clutch started to hang on too much. Next thing was to take the 10W40 out and set some Champion 20W50 in. Almost same. I think the old motor oil was even more heavy stuff so I added some heavy hypoid oil 1-2dl in there. Changing gear still feels too hard and metallic and clutch is not as it were before this 'oil exchange program'. Right now im not sure but maybe I should install just hypoid in the engine also. Any idea what I should try next to make it perfect again?

Never put car engine oil in a motorcycle. Use the specified motorcycle engine oil.

Hi Rens... Yes I used less than half a liter. When the oil start coming back out of the filler hole that it job done. 👍

i'd use SAE 10W40 or 20w40 to be safe.

Yeah is MOTUL 7100, SAE 10w40.

And the bleakfluid I get is also MOTUL SAE 80w90.
