I LOVE BIKES ITS ALL ABOUT MOTORCYCLES and i love restoring bikes bringing them back from the dead my motto is if you can't afford it make it your self when I was a young boy I would go to the local tip to find bicycle parts and I built my very first pushbike in my bedroom. But then came along the Honda ss50 the suzukl ap50 the YAMAHA fs1e and the garelli record and that's when I fell in love with something well out of my price range, Japanese Motorcycles. I also love playing old rock music on my electric guitar.and using my guitar for the backing tracks on my video's.

Hey friend i wish you all the best 👍. I have the 2004 model and it's still a beast of a bike which makes lots of the new ones to look like bicycles if you compare them to the tiger. It burns some oil nowadays but that's all, and since i have my eyes on it there's no big problem. Of course i will attend that when I'll be able to do so, but for now it still runs like the wind as long as I'm keeping the oil level where it must be, other than that to me at least, it's the most beautiful travelling, touring, on-off bike ever created 🐅.
Hi antisy. Yes they are great comfortable bikes also with lots of power. Thanks.
what is that supposed to be?
What is what supposed to be?
Lovely work Johnny. What's on the horizon for your next personal project?
Thanks Paul. Not sure I've got no plans as yet 👍
You've been quite lucky with the thermostat housing. At that age they are notoriously fragile. It'll be interesting to see how the hoses perform, they look quite decent.
Yes seen all the tiger faults on the forum's. Must admit I'm losing the love for them. 👍
Just renewed female fuel couplings to metal, after multiple attempts trying to remove broken off plastic one, Screw extracter, Burning screwdriver etc 😡. I used a 50w soldering iron with a chisel shaped bit and made 3 melt lines inside and damaged bit came out easily. Drained coolant and it looked like drinking chocolate so flushed through many times. IMO silver crash bars complement blue/silver bike. My bike is 2001 , all standard and doesnt smell petroly or rich.It has always popped back on over run down hills though. Nice work Johnny.
Thanks bud. Yes they can be pain in the backside to remove. Glad you didn't blow yourself up with the soldering iron in the petrol tank lol. Stay safe brother 👍
Thanks JT! My 2005 955i is a bit whiffy and smells of fuel although I can't see any leaks anywhere. I have had it put back to standard tune as I thought it was running rich and its helped a bit but still can taste / smell fuel while riding. I took to Triumph and they said nothing wrong and old bikes do smell a bit. As you have a couple of 955i's there - what's your experience? Do they just smell a bit? or is there something I can check on mine that could be causing the smell? (I don't have those dodgy plastic connectors on the fuel pump as it changed on my model to a new design)
Is the end can exit "sooty"? A possible cause could be the 3 corrugated hoses between the IACV and the manifold, there is also a 4th one connecting the MAP sensor to the ECU. They get brittle with age and if cracked, difficult to find any leaks. Cheaper to simply replace them with silicone hose, being sure not to get the hose kinked when fitting them.
I'm pretty new to the 955i so I'm no expert. But I'd have a sniff around the fuel filler cap maybe the seal as perished. Air filters can smell of fuel too . Mines a 2006 and there's no petrol smell. 👍
👍
@@jonyr1TT Thanks JT, that was one of my initial thought and have replaced along with unblocking the tank breather pipe as it was clogged. Made it a wee bit better but still a touch smelly. Will try the IACV hoses as suggested and see if that sorts. Cheers for documenting stuff its really great to watch!
Nice one and thanks Gmanuk.👍
Not long now, getting excited. I'm glad those hoses fit, I got them from a Chinese Web site quite cheap. And those crash bars on yours look better silver as they match the frame. Well done 👍
They fit a treat look pretty good too .. 👍
Great to see this coming along, you're doing God's work brother! 👌
Nice one. Cheers brother 👍
Nice to see my old bike back on the road! I had her new in 1988, well saved!
Nice one mate. Bet she looked a Bute back in her Day.👍
Thanks John. Always nice to see you, to see you nice!
Thank you too!
Call it Harry Palmer (screen)
Thanks 👍
Nice one John its a change to see you midweek
Thank you 👍
I think I can feel some electrics coming on 👍
I'll be giving them a miss mate sorry. I will get you back on the road though .👍
My top fuelhose coupling decided to fracture about 20 mile from home in the week. Got bike recovered and took 2.5 hrs + removing tank. Like your blue one I had to drill head off r/h battery box screw. Half a litre of petrol over my jeans other half over driveway. Metal couplings ordered. Gone right off the smell of petrol now !
That's bad luck. Certainly not the easiest fuel tanks to remove. Hope you got it sorted in the end.👍
Is it possible to install it wrong and break the new drive shafts?
I shouldn't think so but then again anythings possible.
@@jonyr1TT I bought pair of new ones GSP left it a new shop mechanic at low price, 3 days later knocking tickling sounds, how is this even possible my old ones lasted 230k kms
Did they refill the gearbox oil?.
@@jonyr1TT they said they added 0.5 liter gearbox oil
Have you looked underneath to check the long driveshaft middle clamp to the car bodie as been been fitted?
Looking great. It's exciting to get another brother on the road! Well done Johnny!
Thanks. That's the plan!🏍️ He's trying to make his way in life just like the rest of us. 👍
Glad it's behaving itself. Great job 👍
You and me both! 👍
I thought my Honda air filter was a pain, but it's a doddle compared to this.
Yeah it's not a job i was looking forward to.. thanks 👍
Make sure you can get the latest model XJ900 diversion preferably a 2000 and above they stopped making them in 2004 many government services such as our police department road them up until they stopped making the XJ 900
👍
👍
Am doing the same job , on the same fork , was wonder on the fork with the anti dive plunger , does this have to line up with the hole in the bottom of the damper rod .... they do seem to be the same height , although there was no resistance from it while pulling out the for leg ...
I just pulled them out cleaned and put them back in again. Mine seem fine.
@@jonyr1TT thanks for the reply , couldnt find any where that said they need to be lined up .... but if i hadnt checked....they would have 😌
Quick question - did you take your under trays off to do the job or do you just use your car without them?
I put it back on 👍
Good effort! Having some issues with my 885i currently, detailed on forums in depth...
Thank you 😊. Good luck 🤞
Great job!!! Regards from Slovenia 🙂
Thank you 😊. Stay safe.👍
Many of the HP connectors get modified with a 90 pigtail, short hose and a quick connector with a matching pigtail, much easier to work on and the pigtail connectors are cheaper, bit late to tell you I'm afraid. Someone has loved it enough to treat it to "Thunderbike" crash bars and a "Palmer" adjustable screen, neither were cheap accessories. Worth saving.
Thank you 😊. Bit of a learning curve. Helpful tips in the comments help's everyone out. Cheers 👍
Love this video. Great work John!
Much appreciated! Thanks 👍
It's alive.... ALIVE!! 😂 Well done pal, it's looking a lot better after a wash and started on the second pull 👍
Thanks 👍. At to leave for London on Tuesday so won't be getting a lot done for a couple of weeks or more . But still got a few videos in the pipeline. 👍
That's no problem, you take your time and I look forward to the next one, thanks again 👍

hi . nice video with no BS. my astra gtc 2.0cdti sri looks like it has the same engine as this . do you know the model this gearbox is? as mine is hard to get into 1st and reverse so was going to try to add more new oil in . cheers
Sorry I didn't know the model. Could be low oil. Or warn linkage.
@@jonyr1TT i don't know if you mentioned this in video but are you jacking the side to get all the oil out . then levelling off to fill? cheers
Just did it on the unlevel floor
Jon , Can you still get the fuel connectors ? OEM or upgraded + O rings , if so where ? Good Work.
Cheers jay. Yes I found them on eBay metal ones for the 2 £105 plastic singles £30 each.👍
Tnx Jon

Do these not need pressure filled etc? I presume to bleed the system you can just run it with the cap off to bleed?
I had no airlocks didn't bleed mine.👍
