Awesome job brother, 15k is epic and you deserve more :) Keep the awesome vids coming and chop up whatever you want. Like you said its your build! You are sharing the process for us to enjoy and learn from so forget what others think about what you do, It cant be a cafe racer if you don't chop something right? LOL

This build has inspired massive upgrades to my xj600 diversion 1998 seca 2 Street fighter. First off, as far as the modernisation of the engine. Second off, the final look I'm going for is no longer OEM, it's old tech perfected that I'm looking to portray. Thanks for the inspiration. It was lacking..

That poor airbox. Not many of those left intact I'd imagine haha. I ended up cutting a chunk out of mine to remove it. After reading through what it would take to get it running similarly with pods, I've decided to fiberglass and re-install it haha.

Thank you for your videos. Congratulations on 15 K. I am building in 1981 Suzuki GS 450 L into a café racer myself. Your videos have been very helpful. Swapping a 2005 Kawasaki Z1000 front end. Also.... I chopped my air box too lol.

Not sure if you already are using one, but a good set of JIS screw drivers helped to avoid screws being stripped, but it might be mute since these screws seem to be really rusty. Love the vids.

Jish top tip my man, if you are working on old tap bikes like these please invest in a set of JIS screwdrivers and also an impact screwdriver. Its a good job you are saving this poor bike the amount of rust shows its been neglected over the years another great video all the same pal.

I have JIS screwdrivers mate. I dont think you realise how many old japanese things i have owned 😅 That screw was not coming out even with the proper screwdriver. Alot of them are that seized they snapped. Even the hex bolts! I cant wait to get rid of all the rust and have a clean frame with new nuts and bolts

I don't blame you for cutting that air box out. I moved to the land of rust a few years ago so I am interested to see how well this bike cleans up. Originally I am from the arid south western US where rust more than a patina is rare.

Hi Jish, been following your build and been loving it so far! I've got an XJ400 (1982) myself and was thinking of changing the front forks so to some inversed ones like you've got. Was wondering if in your research you came across forks that would work with an XJ400/550? Cheers man and keep up the great work!

  • @jishh

It's your bike and all, but XJ airboxes are pretty sought after since they don't make 'm anymore and JX's don't run well with pods (CV carbs). I was lucky to find one for my XJ550 at a wrecker.
