    I would love to see all the casting lines shaved off the triple trees. Nobody does it but it cleans up forks so nicely

    Hi again, When you get the new light cut the unwanted tab of using an ultra thin cutting disc. Hammering will break it 99% of the time as they are spot welded on. If you want to use a hammer and thin chisel then sand the face of the tab where it joins the casing so you can see the spot weld spots. Gently drill the spot weld till it get to the case, but not all the way through. That will remove enough metal to chisel off. But again, if I were you I'd just use a cutting disc...Good luck with it..

    Segestion for the tank. On my xjr1300 I sanded it back to bare metal, then sand blasted it with kiln dry sand and gave it 2 coats of 2k laquer over some Yamaha decals. It looks real good.

    Nice! Always love bare metal tanks and wanted to do this on my CB125 actually! I however already have a colour and style in mind for this tank 😉

    You need access to a machine shop. I would turn down the steering stem to a nominal dia. Next, bore out the triple clamp, then have a press bushing made to adapt the stem into the bottom triple clamp (yoke to you) you could even weld in the aluminum bushing then press the stem in place.

    I really admire your approach, a lot of channels don't show stuff going wrong. You could take the for the bold approach and bolt parts together and call yourself a bike builder, but I think doing what you're doing is how it should really be done, actually making and modifying things to get them to work. Keep it up!

    All part of the fun! I put my newly painted engine in, and when I fitted the tank, a petrol leak took a load of paint of the engine side case below! 😡😡😡 Nice to see an honest video - you could have sorted it all off camera and not owned up! Keep up the great work 😊

    Hi Jish. Great work. Don't let the set backs worry you too much. Happens to us all at times. For your lower yoke and stem assembly. Are you sure you didn't try to press the stem out in the wrong direction? It would almost certainly be a press fit assembly. I've just done this for a different bike, both stem and yoke were steel. It let go with a bang as it was a tight interference fit. I was trying to pause your video to see the detail. I'm sure the stem is removed by pressing down from the top. Support the bottom side of the yoke with a spacer that the stem can pass through and then press the stem down from the top (take care to protect the threads). The bearing and spacer will come off at the same time. Maybe check your new one for this if you still want to have the aluminum portion anodized and dyed. All the best and good luck. 👍

    this is exactly what i thought but looking at the actual stem there is a recess where the ally cast sank in, so pushing it from the top or the bottom would have given the same outcome. its not the end of the world as i now have a new one and i will make it work one way or another :D

    Is that a 650 frame with a 750 engine?

  • @philprice760
    @philprice7604 жыл бұрын

    Are you sure the spindle can’t be removed from the bottom yoke without damaging it. Are you taking it apart just to anodise the bottom yoke or so you can put a new spindle in to suit the frame? If it’s to alter the spindle this could be done with the bottom yoke still attached no problem. I know someone who could sort that no problem.👍

  • @jishh

    @jishh

    4 жыл бұрын

    I am pretty sure yeah :( I took it to be pressed out and it ended up pushing a heap of ally out from the yoke. we both looked at it in confusion but upon closer inspection you can see the yoke was cast around the spindle. I was taking it out to be anodised but this is no longer an option. either way I will still make it work and look good!

  • @philprice760

    @philprice760

    Send me a picture. They normally have a snap ring in there. I would be very surprised if they have cast around the spindle. Manufacturing wise this would be costly. Two different processes you see. Cast for one bit them machined, then the spindle would be turned. If it was welded after fair enough like a CBR one is. I would like to see a picture if possible.
