I don't know if you know a show called Galactik Football. It was very popular when it was on the air on TV, and many people remember it fondly but there aren't a lot of videos about it on KZread. It is usually grouped with other ''cool cartoons from our childhood'' or ''worst cliffhanger endings ever''. It would be cool to see which team won the most, who had the most goals etc. I think all seasons are for free on KZread, at least in Polish, I saw some in English but the voice acting was so bad I didn't want to watch anymore. What do you think?

And yet none of his recorded sentences on Wikipedia seem particularly harsh, in fact he seems damnright merciful by record. He spared a murderer because "he could find no law against killing a Chinaman", which although incredibly racist is the complete opposite of harsh. "After his death, fictional Western films and books cast him as a hanging judge, although he is known to have sentenced only two men to hang, one of whom escaped. " He was even known to have spared horse thieves, who were often sentenced to death in other jurisdictions, as long as the horses were returned to their owners.

Also neat detail, the eye of dashi was the first wu to be wagered in a showdown, and is used as the last showdown

I do like how it took til the final stretch to for Jack to let them take a Shengong Wu so he can steal from the vault that was unguarded. Really, that could have been done late season 1 and it shows that the Xioalin warriors basically leave the front door open every time they go out for lunch

30:14 This scene is funny lmao! Clay, Kimiko and Rai are traumatized because they think they interrupted an intimate moment between Dojo and the other dragon. But Omi is too pure, he's probably thinking "I'm glad they're friends again! :D"

Clay makes me laugh more than any other character lol

The monk guan spear thing should have been more like "after I caused so many problems losing my spear the last time, I had more made. That way, I will always have one." And there shouldn't have been a few hundred. Rather, there should have been, like, six or so. The fact they can be made still weakens the original bit but still makes it better than what we got.

I think that we should have seen a few Wus get destroyed, and then Monk Guan’s episode has a flashback of him scavenging each wreckage. Then he’d have a few Spears made with those enhanced parts, weaker than the original wu, but better than any mundane weapon.

Omi was the guy who you'd 'expect' to be the leader in the end... but they breadcrumb Raymundo being the strongest a lot.

I think it would have been infinitely cooler if Jack turned out to be the 5th dragon and his element was actually wood, and his reliance on machines was sorta like holding him back because he was focusing on the wrong element, and that's why he ultimately always loses.

OK, bare with me: I'd like if he's Told that he's meant to be the wood one, he hates it, there's some metaphor about how he has to reject his past, and Master Fung talks about how we cannot remain tied to our presumptions. Then, Jack starts sneaking around the temple at night, and people get suspicious. But it turns out Jack has been secretly just trying to learn metal. And it ends with Jack using his metal techniques to win a showdown or something, and then Master Fung accepting his preference, saying that even He must not remain tied to his preconceptions.

@@calemr That would be interesting, but there is 1 issue. Except the episode near the end, where Omi uses all the Elements. It's pretty much hinted at that each monk were kinda 'Born' with their element and can not change it. And even with that episode, it seemed more like "They can use other elementals, but never to the extent or mastery as the one they are destined for". If they just picked Wood for jack, but he can pick and use any element that exists.... 1, WHY are THEY picking which ones he can or can not use? And 2, why do they NOT master other elements or even use them from time to time, or combine them? I always took it as a Kid that Omi being water, meant that NO ONE ELSE could use the Water Element for example. So them making the Elements just a kinda... Preference thing, and easily switched... Kinda makes it seem like the choice is cheap and worthless? It's kinda like the difference between Pokemon in a normal run, and pokemon from a Nuzlock Run. Your limited choices in a Nuzlock actually matter and have more value. where as in a normal run, a pokemon can easily be replaced.

Xiaolin Showdown will always be a special show to me. Watching the finale was a trip for me as a child, I didn't really get the greater myth arc of finding the leader until this very episode. So when it was revealed to be Raimundo, I was ecstatic since I liked the character but like you, I never expected him to be leader. Omi by nature of being the most recognisable should've been leader but he wasn't and I love the show for that. Also the Part 1 was dark as hell, I remember my jaw dropping to the floor in shock at the end. Hannibal Roy Bean intrigued me as a kid because I could never figure him out. He was defintely the most malicious of the villains and if there was ever a Devil in the world, it would be him. But I have not watched the show in a long time and by the looks of things, he was wasted potential. Poor Clay. Didn't realise he was shafted that much for showdowns. This retrospective has been fun. I loved revisiting this show from someone's perspective and I've gotta binge it for myself again one day. One of the Cartoon Network greats. Shame Xiaolin Chronicles sucked ass.

Yeah the leader of the group wasn’t really mentioned much until the very end of the season. It could’ve been built up a little more. And yeah hannibal works well as a devil or temptation, and while I’m not crazy about him, I love how the heroes grow closer because of him, and how the villains all switch alliances throughout the season

Hannibal feels like a boardroom addition 😅 "There's noone in this show for this kids to rally against! Who's the gross evil one they can laugh at?"

To me, Hannibal Roy Bean was always a threat, and the only villain who wasn't either comic relief or ambiguously villainous. He also forced the heroes AND other villains to step up their game.

Jack is really my favorite of the villains in Xiaolin Showdown. I think he's such an interesting character. He's only evil because he feels like he'd fail on the side of good, which makes me wonder if he's evil in the HOPES he'll screw up. His self doubt makes him see himself as a walking disaster, so why would he ally himself with anyone but with the idea of sabotage?

Yeah I also saw a great theory that the reason future timeline jack ruled the world was because omi was gone. Despite how goofy jack was at things omi was the only one to still treat him like an adversary/with respect, but because omi froze himself all that time jack was left with is everyone mocking him/pushing him around so he basically went “fine, you don’t think I’m a threat, I’ll give you a threat” basically a spot from spiderverse scenario

Was caught off guard when Raymundo won the promotion but after taking it all in you understand he was on a different level then the others so he really did deserve it an actual amazing ending to a cartoon finally before the spinoff

One of the only times I’ve seen a side character surpass a protag. I feel like it Happens in animes more often, so it was really cool to see losses and side characters do a lot in a western cartoon

Dude, Jack, as the dragon of metal, would've been so much cooler than ping pong! Ugh... Also, rewatching this honestly made me like hanibel Bean more. I've never got people's complaints of "he's just a bean!" It's foolish in my mind to underestimate a character just because they're not what you expect and seeing his scenes again. i get why he's a bean. Such a small, unassuming creature. It allows him to be that voice in your head. The inner thoughts that make you wanna do bad things. It .makes so much sense and is something we can all relate to.

The point of the character and his somewhat silly name is to _cause_ underestimation. It's both silly cartoon being funny and it helps add to his threat level, in that he can either appeal to underdog tropes to use his small size to get his foes to go easy on him out of pity and influence them with his words.

I think it's to represent the differences of evil. For Jack it was potential and misdirection, having him mostly lose but also havong the potential for overcoming and out smarting the others. For Wuya and Chase, it was pure power and skill. Starting with Wuya, she was arguably the strongest villain in the series (When she had her magic and powers) while Chase had his skills, his honor and his tactical mind, showing the difference between the Older generation and the current generation. And for Bean, it's mental manipulation. He outsmart everyone, is a schemer, strikes when the iron is hot, but is still capable of being outsmarted himself. This actually fits well with the monks. They started with potential, grew in power and began to mastered it through wisdom.

That’s a really good point. I think hannibal had a nice logic to him as the inner voice, and reminds me of several other villains who were very intimidating despite having little physical threat

I have no idea how intentional it was, but I love that our cast got better and had more wins than loses as the series went on. If you were counting the scores, you could actually see their progress.

something thats worth mentioning is that in the future timeline where omi forgets that he cant grow old if he froze himself, Kimiko was elected the leader and failed cause jack spicer controlled the world, and in the Evil Monk Guan era, Clay was the leader and the also wasnt very fit to lead. at no point is omi ever the leader despite how much the show kinda alludes to him leading. also kinda sucks that Clay became leader at some point but has the worse record across the show.

Even as a little kid, I remember finding Hannibal Bean a really strange addition. Like you've got a mad scientist, a cat girl ninja, an ancient evil spirit, an immortal were-lizard warrior, and... a talking bean who tempts people to evil? I could maybe see that as a goofy one-off villain for a single episode, but he's not only a main character but also the one character who the previous main villain seems to fear? Imagine literally any other story attempting to supplant their big bad with a vegetable. Imagine if Darth Plagueis came back to get revenge on Palpatine, and it was revealed he was just a carrot all along.

In a way it makes sense they had so much already covered with the villains, but I think small, weak villains are a little more common than we may think. I’m trying to think of more “mother brain” like villains. He acts similar to season 1 wuya. I haven’t seen much TMNT but maybe krang could count?

Hannibal Bean always made me think of SpongeBob pretending to be a cowboy. Tom Kenny does, like, the exact same voice for the bean-man as he does for Dirty Dan.

0:34 Jack exited the Yin Yang world with everyone else, they didn't swap because they used both yoyos, Jack did swap because he used both yoyos but also had the reversing mirror.

There is a concept I've seen where this show is quite an exception. "Good guys have to win every time, bad guys only have to win once." But even when the world ends, the heroes managed to turn around thanks to the fact that we don't see the long-term reprecussions for the non-main cast.

Yeah, considering when Chase essentially killed most of the other villains under him after getting Omi and ruling the world, we don't really know what happened to them after that since they seem to appear in the last episode, or how the world reacted to Wuya's inital return.

1. I swear Guan is basically *"inconsistency"* the character. The spear thing is bad, but him beinf there centuries ago when Wuya was defeated straight up creates a plot *crater* I mean, Dashi died/ascended to the afterlife and Chase regularly drinks the Heylin potion to stay young. But what the hell is Guan's excuse??! He looks exactly the same. Hell, the Heylin potion in the bad timeline actually made him *age worse* Same with Chase in that timeline. Like Guan he looks no worse for wear, meaning that there is a way to extend your life without becoming evil, which begs the question: What exactly is the POINT of the Heylin potion? Is it just a scam? Did Hannibal just scam Chase and that's why he hates him? Lol 2. I wouldn't say evil Guan is stronger than evil Chase. Just more loyal to Hannibal who is a pretty proactive villain. Keep in mind, in the episode where Jack takes Chase's power, he wrecks the monks and steals all of their Wu with minimal effort. Meaning Chase could have done so as well, but never bothered. Really Chase is just the lesser evil because he's mostly content to just sit around in his lair for decades and centuries on end

I'm kinda sad that you didn't mention that the last showdown was started over the Eye of Dashi, both the chronological first Shen-gong-wu to exist and the first one to have a showdown in the first episode. It's a great way to bookend the show with, because it shows that, despite all the fighting they have done, things are still up in the air for both sides and nothing is certain.

For sure, I think in my original script I mentioned it’s really cool they use the orb of tornami and fight for the eye of dashi, basically the 2 most iconic shen gong wu get involved, but I think I may have cut that line when fixing the copyright claim. I really appreciate you watching!

Yeah, this season really furthered showcased how nuanced certain characters are. Chase saying that Hannibal Bean’s arrival is worse than the end of the world is foreshadowing the end of the series, where Hannibal Bean’s plans affect timelines. And Chase remarking on Jack’s “perfume” is him figuring it out in that moment that he had been duped by Kimiko and the monks and he’s like “touché”, so he’s playing it off cool, but his undertone is like “I respect the hustle, you got me this time.” And this leads into my theory I mentioned in the last video: Chase Young knows at least some of the events that take place in Seasons 2 and 3. He’s seems several steps ahead of everyone, because he already knows certain events that will take place. And this goes back to Omi’s statement: the good in you is stronger than you know. Chase Young was there 1500 years ago, that was kinda the focal point of the timeline split. Omi was there 1500 years ago as well. Despite the timeline resetting with the two Omis touching, Chase would have some memory ripples due to the timeline chaos that happens during the reset. Chase kept his honor, and much like Omi, prevented something far worse from happening. Like Omi in ridding the forces of good, Chase attempting to change certain moments in the timeline would only bring more chaos. And that was the threat of Hannibal Bean. He tried to warn the monks of Hannibal Bean’s influence being able to affect timelines, but couldn’t risk changing Omi going to the past either. Though I will say his knowledge of events is limited to few and far between, like the most important events that would change the timeline like when he and Omi used Fountain of Wi with Eagle Scope to stop a different threat. I hope this makes sense and if you have any questions or concerns, I’ll try to clear it up as best I can, given my take on this concept.

That’s a really cool theory, i love the idea chase knows what’s gonna happen. And yeah I love his honor like when he lost to monk guan, and just bowed and left, despite being able to still win outside the showdown. I always liked that characters didn’t just keep fighting after a showdown ended. I’ve seen some people mixed opinion wise on if chase knew Kimiko was impersonating jack or not, I feel it’s a 50/50 but I choose to believe he knew it was Kimiko, because, as you say, chase is very “I respect the hustle” which I always love

One of my biggest like gripes with the series from the finale is that how is Monk Guan still around if he's just a normal dude? Chase joined the Heylin side for the promises of power and IMMORTALITY, but if you look at the alternate timeline he's barely aged a day while Monk Guan has immorality this time. It just has always bothered me cause it seems the only person who isn't immortal but should be is Grand Master Dashi. 😭

Maybe it’s a cheat/chase wanted a quick way to immortality. Monk guan might have gained immortality/longevity through rigorous meditation and mystic training while chase wanted immortality fast so chose the soup. This isn’t a great theory nor do I justify this slight plot hole but it’s my best guess

@christopherauzenne5023 That's what I've always thought, but it's just one of those unexplained things that has always sat there in the show unfortunately.

After watching these videos, it made me realized that I had actualy watched most of the episodes ... I always thought that I missed a lot of them, but in reality I only missed 4, none of these being an "important" one. It was such a cool show. Because the villains sometimes won, it was fun to see how the showdowns would end, because the heroes didn't had a "sure win", anything could happen.

I am fairly sure that the 'crime' that Dojo says he wasn't convicted of was the sinking of Atlantis which Master Fung mentioned in earlier seasons.

End of the world: everyone dead. Worse the end of the world: eternal life that's literally just consists of suffering and torture. Death is not the worst thing when you can put people into a position where death is the reward. Which is why I often dislike it when in movies someone gets tortured and they're like "you're gonna kill me anyways when I tell you". I've yet to see the torturer tell them that they're correct and that it's the reward for giving up the truth. Ending the pain and suffering

On the spear bit I'm fairly certain they meant that to be he made the literal spear armory after getting his original back and deciding he never wanted to be disarmed like that again.

Monk Guan's probably a hardcore hoarder/collector. When you're either of those, everything you've collected becomes precious sentimental keepsakes.

I really didn't like this show, but for some odd reason, I kept watching it. THOUGH, it did have one of the greatest lessons I've ever learned in life in one of their episodes. They come back from losing to Jack, and mid cleaning the dojo floors, the master says; "There is one lesson in winning, but a thousand in losing." Which I liked a lot, I mean yeah, it's a retooling of "Learn from your mistakes" but framed in a less judgy and accusatory way, that shows that losing isn't so bad, refusing to learn the lessons from it, is.

Yup, I always interpreted that in the same way too. Like in Season 2 almost all of his identity is built around this weapon (which also remained in perfect shape after 1500 years so it may be a really big deal), but after meeting the monks he learned the lesson of "It's not the weapon, but the warrior." So for this season it's basically factory made, because it's not THE Spear of Guan, just A spear of many. It's not irreplacable anymore but still a cool weapon to have.

What might Dojo have done that is a crime but of which he was never tried and formally convicted? Well, explicitly Atlantis was a _populated_ city when he caused it to "vanish" and whether via traditional volcanic eruptions and sinking (drowning) or by eating people like his more recent out of control rampage episode, he almost certainly killed many people. But if there's no government there to try and convict him, no criminal record.

You know, something that always struck me as odd, why to Raimunod, Clay, and Kimiko get presents from their families for CHINESE new year. Kimiko might have an excuse being Japanese, but Rai is grom Brazil(Argentina is the south American country that has an influx of asian immigrants), and Clay is a red blooded texas boy.

Also idk about statistics but I'm peruvian and there's a lot of asian immigrants in the capital. Even if it's not the biggest celebration you can tell when it's the Chinese year here!

Uhm... Brazil has the largest "colony" of Japanese people outside of Japan and also number of Japanese immigrants; and also a large tradition of chinese immigrants too, specially in the southeast (I don't remember from which state Raimundo is implied to come from, but either way, odds are his either from Rio or Sao Paulo, both southeastern). Though proportionally small, there's more than a million asians in Brazil. It doesn't take away from the point that none of them should have been celebrating CNY, but Brazil has a lot of Japanese and Chinese.

This show carried my childhood, Ray was my favorite character, watching him being chosen as the leader was soo cool and groundbreaking for me as a child, I loved this show, and always wished that the producers continue the show, after so much time almost forgot the show my late teenager zapping through the channels what it appeared to be a little Omi, oh boy what a let-down... Anyway, thank you so much, this coverage brought back a lot of good memories of my childhood.

I've always considered 46 and 47 their own mini arc. Since it was about Raimundo finishing his character development with a side of Bean wanting revenge for being so humiliated.

Clay probably should have been the one to be promoted to leader. He was the leader in the alternate timeline where they lived on a farm, and while both Ray and Omi struggled with their pride a lot and both joined the bad guys at least once, Clay was the same rock-solid guy from start to finish and frequently showed that while not as nimble as the others he was a lot smarter than his humble appearance and rural manners of speech would lead you to presume. I would have no arguments against making Kimiko the leader either. I'd just give the tie to Clay between the two based mostly on my taste and how it would feel at least somewhat set up.

From a meta perspective, Clay doesn't really progress as a character. From an in-universe perspective, he was never really the kind to take the initiative, most of the time. He's a bit ttopo passive to be a leader. Kimiko is unfortunately the most sidelined and least developed of the MCs.

@@dude123nice6 From a meta perspective, flat characters actually work pretty well as leaders. Since they don't have a character arc and are "perfect" from the start, they don't necessarily need to do things that would make them look like a worse leader in order to fuel their arcs. Eg. if Omi was made leader, despite still having his issue with pride, a lot of time would be spent on him overcoming his character flaws in order to become a better leader. But in the process he would lose a bit of what makes the character interesting/unique. It can often work quite well, but having the flat character take the static role and just fitting it rather than needing to change to fit also works from a storytelling perspective.

I never watched xiaolin showdown in my childhood. But I vaguely remember watching the end of the last episode of the series on TV, without even having any idea that that was the end of the series. After I got older, a KZread channel made a video telling the full story and I was even more impressed with the quality of the show, even though it was a bit unknown. It was cool to see the evolution of the characters over the seasons and it was even cooler to see a Brazilian becoming one of the most important characters, that's something I don't see in many places and it really makes me happy. Send a shout out to Brazil!

I still wonder how can Guan still be alive. Like, he's also over 1500 years old, but never got an explanation for that. Chase got the soup that grants immortality, right. What about him? Also, at the series finale's alternate timeline, Chase is alive 1500 years later too...

First off, love the reviews. Also I think Hannibal being a bean makes sense since iirc beans are seeds and would therefore means he is the seed of evil, doing his best to grow evil in others which he has been doing for most of the show.

You just brushed past my favorite joke in the series. When Jack uses the Rio Reverso on the chicken, it doesn't just turn into an egg. It turns into an egg... which turns back into a chicken, and then back into an egg, on repeat, because there's no answer as to which came first.

Hannibal almost comes off as someone made to give Rai more higher level wins (since Hannibal is sorta like the Devil of the verse) to make him look better by a in context win-loss record, since the show runners clearly had that running in back of their mind to have him come off better than Omi's wins over Mooks and Jack, since him getting promoted to leader is fairly obvious in hindsight, the one who fell to darkness rising the highest, getting over major personality issues way more than Omi, established subversion over Omi being a Chosen one from episode 1, Dashi despite implied genetic connection to Omi physically being more like Rai personality wise showing Guile is wanted more and just plain development time (so if the vote another guy mentioned ever happened, I wouldn't have seen it since not in US and see no mentions of it elsewhere, its one of those almost entirely for show ones or just for audience speculation one that didn't matter). Makes Hannibal come off as by far the weakest villain, even one offs, since he loses so much, even if Rai hitting him with the wind fist that leaves dent in mountain is peak. Means even Chase's treatment in THE OTHER SHOW in regards to the most insane moments that harm his character (why just why) keeps him above the bean, and it at least remembered his deeper somewhat good elements and giving hints about why he has a deeper connection to Omi. Like despite being set up as the probably the most dangerous villain we see Jack when fully unrestrained, no longer having Omi as angel on the shoulder pushing his good aspects out, is the true ultimate evil beating everyone, taking over the world and getting his bisexual dream in Wuya as cheerleader and Shirtless Chase. Also why it ending where it did for a while as is an ending you kinda need to lie on for some time meant Xialoin didn't need a 4th season out the gate it did need a little bit more in the 3rd Season to explain its aspects that feel a bit rushed despite how good it is. The madness of the timeline at the end and how contradicting elements seem to stay, weird Wu changing hands in background even more than previously despite them initially wanting to keep a good tally on who owns what, Guan and Chase immortality existing no matter which side they took and other stuff. Even a gag episode going full into the best joke of PREVIOUSLY ON XIAOLIN SHOWDOWN! in just going "we forgor" would be fine while also going "yeah no Guan got so many after giving first spear to Omi he totally isn't actually a bad person". Also while Chronicles would be the natural fit for next thing to cover, best not to punish yourself with it until we get a more proper continuation. So yeah like others are saying Jackie Chan adventures or even supporting guy suggesting Galactik Football since the way it plays out is good for a video and would be funny to watch reactions to its drama.

Those are really good points! Yeah it definitely was a little bit messy by the end, when I first watched it years ago it never occurred to me that the show had more to offer potentially, I always kinda saw Rai being promoted as the end of the story. But I never thought of things like what chase’s motivation for being evil is now that he has the immortality soup, I thought it was because he sold his soul but I may be misremembering. I really appreciate your comment!

Chronicles is just not worth talking about. Jackie chan adventures is indeed a good choice for the next series since it does have somewhat similiar concepts here and there.

I always liked how they depicted Chase and Master Monk Guan. Chase, despite being on the evil Heylin side, is honorable to a fault. Yes he'll twist his words and decieve as much as he can but if you manage to one up him he's actually quite gracious in his defeat, despite how obviously salty he is with losing and trying to show off that even when losing it is still part of his plan. Master Monk Guan on the other hand, is pretty petty when you look at him deeply. Seriously, I know the "He actually has multiple spears" is meant to be taken as a joke but it just made him unbelievably petty to trade Dojo for a copy of his original spear. It just goes to show that even if you are on the side of good or bad, that deosn't automatically make you a good or bad person. Also loved how Raimundo's act for solidifying his leader role is the same as his first biggest mistake. At first, he didn't want to run away from the threat of Mala Mala Jong and because of his rash decision, he actually made the Shen Gong Wu monster even stronger. But at the end, when the evil forces were cheating in the final showdown by all jumping them 4 on 1, he didn't hesitate to jump in and try to stop the big baddies despite how hopless the situations seemed. He got his face rocked in by the literal gank squad and all he managed to do was get a couple of good hits in before taking them down with him, but that was enough for his friends to jump in after him for the win.

Yeah I think raimundo’s passion being a double edged sword works very nicely. And one of chase’s coolest moments was when he lost to monk guan in season 2, and he still could’ve just beat everyone with his big car army, but he just bows to them all and says “gg no re” like he’s a good sport

I think the reason they separated the Raimundo betraying Hannibal and the Sapphire Jellyfish version is that Hannibal targeted Raimundo as revenge for tricking him. To mix the two together would likely overstuffed the episode as one was entirely dependent on the other.

I'm on my midterms right now and holy shit you just made me so happy with your Xiaolin showdown videos between all the stress of college. This series means so much to me and being able to remember it now with a more mature mind, it just keeps surprising me. Omi was my favorite before and still is just because he feels so real as a character with flaws and as a kid. I need more protagonists with flaws other than being naive or inexperienced. It was like the first time seeing Evangelion, expecting Shinji to be this annoying whiny kid and finding out "Holy shit, this kid is amazing!" because he is a kid! Him not becoming the leader is such an amazing scenario for younger audiences because it all ties to Omi's insecurities but his final acceptance is just so wholesome to watch. I'm going to make a wild guess (since I haven't rewatched all the episodes) and say there are subtle parallels between Chase and Omi and Dashi and Raimundo, a little more on the first two of course but seeing Dashi's chill personality, I can see Raimundo growing up to be similar, while Chase (ambitious to be the best) chose the dark side to achieve it. AND Chase fucking Young, where to start with that guy? so sinister but also not boring to erase the potential comedy. I must say when you mentioned controversy on the character I had no idea what you were talking about, wasn't he another hot bad guy? But rewatching some episodes I can see his relationship with Omi possibly being the controversial part? I mean, the guy is amazing but also creepy as fuck! He focuses on this orphan kid, with a big ego and a very black-white view of the world, constantly praising him, teaching him but manipulating every step. They say the reason he chose Omi is because he has a very powerful chi but what a coincidence Omi is also the easiest target. I mean, there's this scene when Omi rejects Chase's offer again and he gets close to his face saying that, you can never say never and that his destiny can change, and Omi has this scared expression. IT PUTS ME ON THE EDGE OF MY SEAT! God, I love this series. The execution is not as amazing as it could be, but the ideas, potential, and characters are AMAZING... Sorry for the long essay.

in my experience extra chromosome tends to be a dig at ones breeding IE he's casualy implying jacks parents where inbreeding also I think chase was complimenting kimiko I am rarely surprised he basically admited she surprised him and then stated you didn't fool me then he ends it with a compliment

I always feel like the show is gonna be more crude than I remember, but it really blends whacky and poignant together and I’m always surprised with how visually good the show looks, like the character posing is some of the best I’ve ever seen in a cartoon, every single shot is so good

I always found it very strange that the show just kind of.... *stopped* after season 3. Keep in mind, it wasn't cancelled. It was just never renewed for another season, hell there's no evidence to suggest a season 4 was ever even planned. Which, again, is really weird since the show was pretty popular even towards the end of its run. Maybe they just felt like it was better to end on a high note than to stretch the series out? Its possible, but with Rai becoming the leader of the team I feel like the show had some more plotlines in it to explore. I still hold on to some hope that this show will return, but if it means potentially another disaster like Chronicles... then maybe it *is* better that this show is simply remembered fondly

I always got the feeling from Chase Young that he was basically fulfilling the role of "token Evil". Like "There has to be Evil for Good to oppose". And then he just decided that he would be like an Anti-Hero who would end up messing up the side of Evil whenever they got to be too strong. And then still attempting to teach the monks in training - like when he calls Omi out for if he would keep his word, or tempting Raimundo. He could have easily defeated them pretty much from the start and just has this "oh well. I dont care" attitude.

Maybe the insinuation from the ending is everything chase is doing is against his will because he’s chosen evil so everyone else is good, making this much better timeline

Are you upset that Monk Guan had multiple spears? How about the fact that Jack never lost the Jetbootsu in season 1, yet it somehow ended up in the custody of the xiaolin warriors? Or the other hundred timers a Shen Gong Wu switched hands without a raid or showdown?

I think what could have helped Hannibal as a villain would be making him more of a deal with the devil sort, as we saw with Chase. His return is amped up as worse than the end of the world, but we never really get anything of that. Maybe if it was more he granted great power or victory but cost people something dear, it would really bring up interesting discussions about the price of power or what could drive someone to that.

Chase young is a master manipulator and liar. I wouldn't put it past him to realize when ommi admitted to knowing the secret to defeat evil. For him to make up a lie on the spot to convince him not to use the knowledge under the fear that he would destroy good if he tried using that information. Because the risk is too dangerous to call his bluff because if he finds out Chase was not lying then ommi would destroy good forever. Something that is too risky for him to even try

There is some defense of Guan not much but there is a kinda obvious explanation for the spear room. He had the thing replicated before his showdown with chase just in case he lost it again somehow. Keep in mind he’s still awful but awful for different reasons

The part in Time after Time part 1 where all of Omi's friends are killed is brutal. Clay explodes after he is hit directly by the robots' blasters, Kimiko is ripped in half, Raimundo is stomped to death as Omi watches helplessly. It was one of the few scenes of the show I still vividly remember. Dark af.

I think the implication with Guan's spear is that he got the duplicates _after_ that incident where Chase Stole it. Also, Chase didn't get his immortality from the soup, it gave him the power to turn into the lizard form and turn all those warriors into cats.

These videos were a lot of fun to watch. It's nice to know the series had such a satisfying conclusion, especially since that weird attempt at a continuation bombed so hard. As for what I'd like to see you cover in the future, you should check out Code Lyoko. That's another show that keeps things interesting. If you wanna dig even further back in time, Transformers Beast Wars and Transformers Beast Machines are a wild ride.

I would say that next should come Xiaolin Chronicles but even I'm not heartless enough to blight someone with THAT abomination. Instead I'll ask for my other favourite cartoon form way back... Jackie Chan Adventures.

i remember watching scraps of this show during katrina. i caught little snippets of the show and remember scraps of them. my memories were vague, the team going inside a dragon to help him not be sick, and the 2 ton tunic in a water based arena. but this video retrospective was honestly great to see what i didn't remember and didn't see out of this show. thanks for this trip down a weird side road leading off my own memory lane. right, the hurricane katrina. forgot most people wouldn't instantly recognize that outside the majorly affected areas after all these years.
