Hey guys, sorry for pinning this comment on all videos but I want to give you an update on the channel. I've been slowly adding a show archive to the videos including a full transcript added as sub titles and a full track listing (with links to KZread videos for each track). Pilkipedia archive link has been added as well and I've been having fun illustrating some of KP's best bits, I'm adding these to a shop incase anyone is interested: www.man-moth.com/ It's taking me a while to update the archives, especially as I don't work Mondays so please bear with me as I chip away at it. Lots of love, Man Moth.

There's been lots of good podcsts and radio shows, but honestly nothing has come close to these three, especially XFM/Guardian podcast days. I cannot tell how many times I've listened to these over the past 13+ years since they were on air, but I never tire of them. Nothing is forced like a lot of podcasts - you can tell they were all genuine friendships at the time.

At 16:15 i heard Karl say "one at a time" in reference to Jonno Coleman's weigh in. First time I'd ever caught that in years of listening 😂😂😂😂😂
51:16 Karl's pause before he gives the answer is brilliant.

Same thing with the 1000 monkeys Shakespeare thing. He said it was true and Karl denied it, then a maths student emailed in and corrected Ricky that infinitely makes it highly likely they’ll write Shakespeare but not a mathematical certainty. Ricky acted like that’s what he said all along then deleted this from his memory and kept on saying the 1000 monkeys myth afterwards. Ricky’s intellectual insecurity is perhaps his most unfortunate characteristic.

I wish I could go back to the first time I heard "Ban Gulls"
Apparently Karl's origin of "burning the candle at both ends" is bollocks, and it actually came from 17th century france, where candles were pretty expensive, and burning them at both ends invokes the image that you were wastefully burning through money, and eventually the phrase mutated into burning through your own energy rather than money.

EVEN KARL SEEMS SURPRISED BY HIS LAUGHTER
Here's a question - can anyone work out where Karl used to live while they were doing this show? (I don't know by the way) Some clues I've picked up: - Here he says the parking is bad round his way - It's walking distance from the studio - He walks through Soho to get to the studio (which was in Leicester Square) - It's a high street - It's central London So, it has to be somewhere to the North-West of Leicester Square. I'm thinking it's perhaps Maylebone or Paddington kind of area. Although in central London a lot of roads could be called a high street. Any ideas?? It seems as though at this point, Ricky lived somewhere around Charlotte Street, Percy Street and Rathbone place as he mentions those when looking for an office. Steve lived up in the Swiss Cottage-Finchley Road kind of area.

It is remarkable that there are STILL people who think this show was scripted. In this episode, they do a link where they argue about whether or not they can do a live broadcast from Karl’s flat. Imagine proposing that as an idea! “And then we’ll talk for five minutes about whether to do a show from Karl’s place. And Karl- you come up with reasons why you don’t like the idea. That’ll be great radio.” This isn’t a knock on the quality of the show, but none of this is scripted. The amount of effort that went into it (zero) is immediately apparent. They are constantly winging it, and more often than not striking pure gold.

Both Ricky and Steve confirmed they haven't fallen out, they're still friends, it's just that their careers went in different directions. Ricky himself has stated that he purposefully ignores questions about them to sorta troll the people asking, which sounds like a very Gervais way to do it. But fear not, if there ever was a divorce of sorts Ricky would seek custody of Karl.
