***** That links is not based on anything, its actually rumors by some people thinking sony would have done the same thing. That rumor started on the declaration of a sony employee. That employee at some point he said : "We have seen the reaction from people to the xbox reveal, and that gave us information on what the people wanted for their console" Then people started to think, "oh they had DRM and they removed it at the last moment". Which ABSOLUTELY DOES NOT MEAN THAT. It could also mean "we are going to make a marketing strategy and tell people about our no drm policies, we had no intention to do that at first, but after xbox one reveal reaction, we have something to win by doing this". It could have also mean : "we have seen the backlash about xbox one trying too hard to be an "all in one" system that is not just about games, we have seen people wanting companys to speak more about game so we are going to speak only about game in our marketing campaign" And there is thousand of other things it could have meant. I have seen thousand of links like that one, and none of them are based on actual confirmation or quotation, they are based on rumors.

Yes, so the whole reason the console's graphics and various mechanics suck, is because of an extremely unpopular feature, that was almost immediately rescinded. Meaning, we pay less, but got less of a console in the long run.

And it was on this day when gamers declared in one voice: "We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight!" (pretty fitting reference if you ask me).

***** I can plug my PC into my television and play through my it just as if I was playing on a console, expect with better graphics and controls. Also, Gibepusi Boss Go google it, people have checked out the PS4's specs and found out it would cost around $600 to make a PC that is exactly like the PS4 with the exact same parts...So try again. Then again, you could be like some, and get a beast PC to play on ultra with 100+ FPS.

CaitSeith I dont think so, corporations are stupid. The respond to money, and people buying the Xbox after it took all this crap away is a clear sign that if they try that again they will fail.

I still don't trust Microsoft. They still seem very shady to me, I use to own a 360 and it broke quickly, froze a lot, I went through like 3 of them and I just gave up on them, and the fact Microsoft had that DRM at all makes me not trust their decisions, yes they took it away but they easily could not have.

This says otherwise: As previously reported by The Inquisitr, the recent Killer Instinct tournament showed us all that Microsoft never really did remove the DRM from their games. In the last round of the tournament, all of the players involved had to stop and sign in on Xbox Live just to prove they owned the game before the competition could finish. This may only be on first-party Xbone titles, but it’s enough to show us that Microsoft was at least partially lying about taking out DRM.

There is not a damn thing Microsoft can do to earn back my trust. I have integrity, and the simple fact that they were gonna do that in the first place ruined it for me. PS4 is the much better deal anyway and they were never gonna fuck us.

The community outraged for sure, and fanboys will never admit to this, but Sony's decision to not do the same thing is what really made Microsoft change their policies. It was that or admit defeat in the next gen market.

Ok.. the whole thing about "WE DID IT!" is bullsht. SONY did it because they didn´t follow suit. Had sony done the same, we would be SUFFERING and Microsoft would have never reversed that horrid DRM. Sony took advantage of this Microsoft horrible idea and decided to be heroes, and it paid off. Microsoft was forced out of this policies in order to remain competitive. The other outcome was a lot of people fired from Microsoft and a TERRIBLE precedent for that company´s history which explains the low sales after all this years. I WILL NEVER forget what they tried to do to us. Enjoy the truth.

I'm guessing not, so it seems you actually just need to get a grip and realize what a clown you sound like trying to associate yourself with something that you have no actual ties to. This whole thing is ignorant as all hell anyway, since PC already does DRM on 90% of titles and Sony was planning to do the same before they saw the public reaction to MS and backpedaled. The whole gaming world is going into DRM whether anyone likes it or not, MS just wanted to do it ahead of time and just get the ball rolling to save everyone money. Look at how many games on both platforms are digital only with DRM and increasing every day. Digital games are cheaper for the distributor and that's usually passed on to the buyer with discounts (a la Steam and Live Gold/PS+) Physical formats are on the way out and the industry is sneaking it in more with each day, until one day, all the people who throw fits about not being able to have physical games will realize that almost no games get physical releases anymore.

+AEUGNewtype About the "we" issue, please read my original comment again, maybe you need some serious reading comprehension lessons. Yes, PC does DRM on 90% of titles, but I don't need a permanent connection to the internet in order to play or use my pc (or Steam). Digital games in most cases are *NOT* cheaper on console, they just keep that money, and in some cases they are more expensive, unlike Steam. And yes, the industry wants to ditch physical formats, Microsoft wanted to do it first in order to get more exclusives from the evil *EA* and the likes, but fortunately and because their competition didn't do the same, it *BACKFIRED* and at least at lauch along with their *XBONE spy KINECT* thing they went to *HELL* and the people in charge *FIRED*. Hope they learned.

Funny that you mention anonymous Xbox employees. Microsoft is famous for astro-turfing online forums. They push for their agenda pretty strongly too. A great example is NeoGaf. There's TONS of anonymous Xbox employees pushing various pro-Xbox and anti-PS agenda. It's mind-blowing how many of them do it at NeoGaf. They even have moderators working for MS, mainly in the Off-Topic section.

If you honestly think that microsoft "listened" to us, you are lying to yourself. The only reason they reversed it was because they thought shit, we aren't going to make money. They knew that the PS4 was going to sell a hell of a lot more from their reveal, so Microsoft did what they had to. You really think they would have done that if everyone cheered at their reveal event and no one cheered at the sony's? I'm just saying, our voices didn't change a thing. Money is the one that talks.

The consumer outrage probably had nothing to do with it. What was more likely is this: MS said, reluctantly, "we're going to do blah blah blah" and the reaction was "What the bleep bleep bleep?!" Then Sony did a come-from-behind blow and said "we're not going to do blah blah blah" and the response was "yay, Sony is not doing blah blah blah so I'll buy Sony's console." MS then look and said "It looks like they're going to give they're money to Sony because they're not doing the blah blah blah that we are, so we'd better stop doing the blah blah blah." I'm sure it was actually competition from Sony and not fan outrage that motivated MS to change. They only care about fan outrage when they think it's going to make them lose money.

Hey joe, I'm glad Microsoft changed there policies but after 6 to 12 months or 20 million consoles sold what's to say they turn around and say they're bring back DRM and all the other bull-shit from before. Cos if you read in there terms it says Microsoft has the right to change there policies at any time and if they have tired to rip xbox fans off once, guess what they'll try again. That's why I won't be getting an xbox one because I simply don't trust Microsoft anymore. When Xbox 360 and ps3 first came out, I brought them both but this time around I'll be just buying a ps4. I'll be waiting very along time before I'm even considering buying an xbox one .

RANT: I remember hearing about all this bs before it came out, but I never picked one up until the next year sometime in December. What gets me though, is how the fuck it is widely accepted that you are FORCED to download and install not one, but every. Single. Game. I own over FORTY games for my 360, probably even more than that. On Xbox One, I've bought a total of FOUR disc games, AC black flag and unity were downloads that came with it, totaling SIX games that I own. I have 17% of my default hard drive space left since you need to install them to fucking play. If you compare this to the PS4 you can't even argue against it being better since it allows you to own and play more than, I'd say ten, maybe fifteen games without deleting and re-downloading them. Why was this not an issue, and no uproar at launch is what I don't understand. Isn't the ENTIRE purpose of a console to streamline the experience? Why the fuck would I even buy an Xbox One when it's now essentially a lesser, complete shit version of steam. Be careful now, if you say exclusives, once they release too many, you won't be able to play them all.

PS4 has The Last of Us (ranked best game ever), Uncharted series (U2 is amongst the top 10 games ever), The God of War, Infamous series and Uncharted 4 which is coming soon. Xbone has just Halo 5 (not very highly rated)??? Gears of War ain't there in Xbone afaik. Rise of Tomb Raider is just a temporary exclusive for XBoners. Even Titanfall is on PC. So why should someone buy XBone when there are no exclusive games? Can someone please explain? Also in Ps4 gamer can play game from the discs with only a minor part of the game installing. That saves a lot of space.

+Clarence Constantino that is subjective question. Everyone has personal preference. I prefer PC simply because of excellent backwards compatibility and the freedom to do what I want, way more cheap games, and the fact that I've never actually touched a gamepad since the days of Nintendo Entertainment System so I'm pretty much accustomed to KB/M. However other than these personal preferences, I've nothing against the console or console gamers. I respect all platforms. Although yeah I do agree that TLOU should at least be available to PC, if not Xbox. I mean the direct competitor to PS is Xbox only considering that PC and console gamers are two distinct crowds and they usually stick to their respective systems.

I have the XB1 White Edition and i am very glad and happy with it. You can watch KZread/Twitch games which i like to do. If you connect your xbox one with your pc, you can watch youtube from your pc to your xbox1/Tv. From popcorn time i can download movies and with this app Xbox video, i can stream movies from my pc to my xbox and to my tv with good quality(1080p) and alot of things more.

Listen I'm not a Xbox/Microsoft hater or a PS fan. I play on PC but I do buy consoles cause there are some games that just don't feel right on PC like fighting games and beat em ups... also when a game has crazy graphics and I don't want to update my PC I get it on the console. Anyways, DRM and these bullshit rules are not gone people. I'm happy they changed it. I really am cause I loved the XB360 and I would be happy to continue over to the Xbone but.... here's the problem I see. Yes this is a victory but a short one at best, Microsoft may care for their customers but they care for their money and sales more. Every company is like this and it's nothing new. Microsoft continues to have gaming companies breathe down their necks asking for DRM, Sony is too. And I feel that once the Xbone starts to peak in sales we may see DRM come back. To redeploy DRM would be easy, just a simple Xbox Live update or patch and DRM is back. Now as a gaming community its our job to fight this. Sony fans too, cause if Microsoft launches DRM Sony will be have it later down the road. Look at the paid online services, Xbox Live did it and PlayStation was not too far behind. So when this comes back up, and believe me it will, if it's done to the Xbone then PlayStation fans should join in on the protesting if they don't want their console to have it. And same goes with Xbox fans, we got to back each other up on this. What we should do is go after GameStop and gaming retailers. DRM is done because many gaming companies put in millions of dollars and hard work to make a game, and thanks to these retailers they barely get back any profit. If you buy a new game the company gets all the profit and the retailers get a small slice. If you buy used the company barely gets anything. As gamers we should get behind the gaming companies, whether you like Bio-Ware, Bethesda, Infinity-Ward, DICE, Capcom, Nintendo, Gearbox, Telltale Games, Will Work For Games or Ubisoft ect. ect. These companies should have our support, and the companies should be going after retailers instead of punishing gamers. Why do you think DLC is getting so outrageous? DLC is the only thing gaming companies are able to use in order to make money. And that money they make goes into the paychecks of the developers, company's funding, publishers and that money is used to make new games. They are doing shading marketing with DLC, yes but they have to. They are backed into a corner by retailers and DLC has become a great way for companies to make money. Many problems stem from used games. And that's the problem we need to face, all of us.
