I love the controller but I've had both the original and the series 2 and they both only last a year. Controllers that expensive should last.

Just get the Best Buy warranty, then you just keep renewing the warranty when you have issues for 60 dollars. I do think it should have better quality though

I’ve had my elite series 2 controller for two years, and I am very grateful that I got the extended two-year warranty through Microsoft because I have had to send this damn thing in no less than nine times in that two years to have various issues worked on, quite often they would send it back in exactly the same condition and I would have to send it back AGAIN to have it finally fixed. I made the mistake of buying a Chevy Malibu in 2014 and that car has been nothing but a pain in the ass. We’ve had to take it to be worked on numerous times in the intervening years before getting rid of it…in my opinion, the Elite controller is the Malibu of controllers. Seems nice on the outside but the extra work that has to be constantly done to keep it running isn’t worth it in the long run. That’s my take.

The Malibu is a good car that can last a long time. Sounds like you have an issue taking care of things.

@@stephenprice9635 I took care of the car just fine, but on the other hand, I’ve known three people that have also owned the 2014 edition of the Malibu and every one of them have complained about how often they had to take it in to be worked on same as me…anecdotal perhaps but it goes to show that not every Malibu is a “fine car“. I certainly haven’t found that to be the case just like with the elite controller.

I have also had the same issue I had the elite controller back in 2018 and it broke in less than a year. Then I got the series 2 in 2020 and it broke in less than a year. Controllers that expensive should last.

Ordered the red core and the complete component pack yesterday for $130 yesterday. Been watching elite controller unboxings all day.

Thank you for this video. I'm not seeing that shade of green, the closest is fairly dark. I don't see a way to adjust the colors other than the 16 standard colors there. By Standard, I hoped there were other color options. Are there?

Bought an elite core about a year ago. Exchanged it for two more controllers cuz the face buttons were not registering every press I had. I decided to suck it up cuz the controller has a lot of great features and I love using paddles (I had paddles from original elite controller). After a few months my RB was registering about 30-50% of the presses I would attempt. So that was the final straw. I was hoping to find that Microsoft improved some of the very basic features like the buttons working. But it seems folks are still complaining about the same problems as they have the last couple years. Such a shame cuz the controller has so many awesome features and a real “premium” feel to it. That all being said… I still might try getting another one cuz I can’t go back to standard.

You forgotten to mention taht the sticks tantion is adjustibal with the screw in the middel under the cap. (Sorry my english is not good)

You can also adjust the tension of the joysticks

You have never had stick drift on a controller? That is wild

On a xbox controller in particular. I haven't since xbox 360.

I have to replace my controller every month or two because the right stick always looks down slowly

You also didn't mention that when you take the stick caps off, you can adjust the tension of the analog sticks.

Ya better be handy with tools and electronics cleaner for the bumpers L1 L2.

Top tip: if you want elite pad to have that stock pad feeling keep it in default which is the 3 lights

The switch to adjust trigger broke I can still move it but the plastic piece broke off and the rubber is starting to peal back no drift yet I’ve had it about 2 yrs thinking about buying another I see the navy exchange has the white one for 125 for all those military with your star car probably will be about 112 and no tax

my dad has an elite 2 but his right motor is not connected.

How is that even possible I had the same 2 controllers for 2 years I'm a massive gamer I've Only ever had 2 controllers and never gotten stick drift I even had an Xbox one controller I gave away that I had for years before I got the series x

@@tyicbranch2734I'm surprised myself, but it's truth. One was the base black controller that came with the game, and I bought the white variant and it wore out within a year. I'm assuming the Halo Infinitely heavy play is what did it in, butt who knows. The stick drift is also always to the right. It may be my specific style of play as that's a pretty consistent result.

@@Micmoves I don't know I've never gotten stick drift in 5 years and I'm a heavy gamer so I don't know there's a lot of people that dose take care of there controllers but maybe drop it one day and it lands on the thum sticks or another part and then it breaks or something

Still worth it for 118USD?

So i have returned 3 xbox elite 2 all with the same stick problem. When they are in the middle i can press them easy, but when i want to press them while moving up its so hard to press... Seems like a production bug

They aren't a issue, that's how it is because of the adjustable tension , so the way it's made the stick has a little bit of wiggle. Now I know your the reason why there are so many open box or used Xbox elite, because people keep buying them and returning it because of thibgs like that

@@Nemix yeah but gamers rarely change their equipments. We are so picky about our equipment. If it works for us, then it works and we don't wanna change ANYTHING. That's my relationship with my elite controller. I like how I play on it but I got to get best buy warranty on it in case it breaks

This controller is pretty amazing my girlfriend actually bought me an elite controller 2 from the design labs it's a little more expensive but worth it Only one problem your paying a lot of money it could take up to 4 weeks to arrive that's a little bit of a problem especially paying that much money for a controller it didn't have opinions for faster shipping

Had 2 break in 6 months time never again.. been using a Razer V2 Chroma for 3 years no problems.

My R1 button died within a few months. Certainly not the best controller ever.

R L and number dumbest way to name buttons,just say RT and LT.Makes more sense,also my controller has been dropped many times.Whole left side of the controller is falling off and still no drift,button jams,or unresponsive buttons.

Got mine in late 2021, playing cod constantly, no unresponsive buttons and I’ve been on 2 2 deadzone since last year, I guess it varies depending on the quality control

I have had 2. Both developed stick drift about a year out. I watch videos to try and fix it and the drift returned. To have it professionally fix it’s $100 per stick. It’s a very nice controller but not worth the money for its longevity.

removable batteries are good cuz the internal batttery will wear out sooner than anything else

removable battery's are better in my opinion but I've never had a problem with my elite controller 2 battery ever it has 40 Hours battery life strangely iv had problems with my ps5 controller battery than less than a year

even if that battery degrades overtime, it's gonna take over a decade to degrade enough to even be noticeable, 40 hours is insane, even 20 hours is really good.

They need to add gyro support to xbox controllers

Just picked up a elite 2 controller. Money saved from buying double A batteries is worth it on its own. I feel like people abuse their controllers which is why they have problems. Guess I’ll find out. I get quite a bit of use out of the standard one so I expect to get the same useable life out of the elite minus buying batteries.

This battery lasts 40 hours, granted I only play 2 hours a day and honestly once charged I can play for like two days......... That's 4 hours!! So is it 4 or 40 hours?!

Honestly I see all these comments ppl just need to be more careful with there controller how do you manage to break the entire trigger after 2 months and experience stick drift with something that’s designed to combat stick drift even being an issue found one of these for 50 bucks I’m gonna buy it

People get this with stick drift right out of the box, me included. QA issues with this controller are very well documented. Stop blaming end users and fellating huge companies.

Still love the replaceable batteries.

L1 button died on regular controller after 5 months , wtf is Xbox doing to their controllers.

So I just got my controller from Best Buy and it’s coming today at 8 pm something so I hope I like it I might edit this comment to share my thoughts😁

No Sir! The Elite two has crap parts. The Elite one was much better but then Microsoft decided the cut back and use crap internal parts and still charge us the same for the controller. Which sucks because if your a hardcore gamer like I am, we need a controller that can take the abuse. Right now I'm using the corded Fusion by PowerA. I like it because the top comes off and so do the thumb sticks that allow be to get the internals to clean and eliminate any stick drift. Not that I've had any issues in my first year of owning this controller.

Rather have 2500mah+ batteries instead of a pack..

You never mentioned anything mechanical with the controller, you just mentioned how good it looks and how it has a 40hr battery. None of that matters when this controller is notorious for getting stick drift and buttons that randomly stop working

Had problems on everyone off them

Works great. Until it has stick drift in 3 months

IDK man, at that price point and prone to various issues from stick drift to rubber peeling to faulty button inputs to disconnection issues to non swappable battery. Overall I'd say this controller is definitely NOT the best Xbox controller in 2024 or even the best controller in general. Horrid build quality with a laughable price tag.

yeah it's great unless you get stick drift or bumper failure or your paddles stop working. Microsoft need to up their fucking game, absolute dog shit build and QC with these.

100% JUNK is what they are, they last a few months at best before stick drift renders it useless, the bumper switches fail as well. Worst thing I have ever bought, could have bought almost 3 normal controllers for the price of this one piece of shit. Do any amount of research and these problems are super common on damn expensive accessory.
