    I get 1.4Gbps DL and 46Mbps UL with the X7. Wireless to most devices in almost any room is a solid 381Mbps DL and 44Mbps UL even through many walls and RFI interference fields. Our older XB3 gateway couldn't pass all its juice wirelessly through many obstacles/walls. Our home has fiber optic ran from the hub to our access point and then from the wall to the XB7 it's COAX. Runs like a dream...

    I've had the xb6 forever and had 3 pods as I have a dedicated home theater in the basement. My speeds are 450 down upstairs in my bedroom but began falling off drastically the further I was from the modern. I have a Roku ultra downstairs which really helped but my speeds are like 40 down with the pods. Thanks for the great info as my xb7 is on the way! I think I might unplug the pods and see what happens with this new xb7. I'm in a wheelchair and I use Google appliances for a lot of things including my nest thermostat. I am really excited about this! I also just got my Xbox series X in last week. I have it hooked up via the ethernet port so there's no problems, but it's still nice to know there are 4 ports on the back now. Thanks,buddy, and keep up the great work! Nick

    Also cool thing to remember is your WiFi test on your phone is capped with the speed your phone is able to process with WiFi. So if you have a higher WiFi use of other devices the speeds will be even higher.

Just installed a 10GB ethernet card into my pc today to have enough headroom to max out the full 1200mpbs from my ISP, and I tested it just now and I am getting the FULL 1200mbps. I even almost start to hit 1300 on some tests. Crazy!

If it's because of that then I would just say to just use a lot of data, by downloaing big files all the time lol. Maybe xfinity will notice that and offer you a free upgrade.

    upgrading the router is going to do not much of anything for you if you also aren't upgrading your speeds. 50mbps is gonna be 50mbps no matter what router you have. This new router is mainly for gigabit speeds and wifi 6 functionality. If you don't have a phone or other device that supports WiFi 6 yet, then you won't notice a difference, just like you won't notice a difference if you don't have gigabit speeds, which this router is pretty much meant for.

    My wife and I have the 175 mbps plan right now. So if we upgraded to the 300 or 600 mbps plan, does that mean that we would pay the additional $25 for the Xfi plan on top of the speed we choose? • @GReviews

    @@REDDEADREVOLVER1 Hello, thanks for watching. I believe right now if you upgrade to the 200 or 300mbps they are currently the same price right now. However they will only send you an XB6 or XB7 if you have at least 300mbps plan or higher. You will have to ask for it specifically because they may need to manually "flip a switch" on you cable unit outside your home/apartment to enable the higher speeds higher than 200mbps. However, the rental price on the modem box XB3, XB6 or XB7 will stay the same as $14/month. You may be mistaken of the $25/month as that is if you opt in for Unlimited Data which includes the rental of the modem too. I don't need Unlimited data as the current data cap of 1.229 TB is enough for me as I average about 6oo to 800 GB a month. I hope this answers your question and helps you decide on what's best for you guys. Let me know how it goes when you do. Thanks again.

    @@GReviews Thanks for the response! Yes, you’re correct on that. We are using our owner modem/router right now but haven’t been getting close to the 175 mbps. A tech came out and told us that it was the splitter. They repaired it and we’re getting only 70-80. Which isn’t good enough. We currently have 1 smart TV, 2 phones for us adults and then 2 PS4’s. But with the PS5 out now, I was talking to my wife about upgrading to make sure that we have plenty of speed. Especially for guests who come over and such. Let alone having good quality internet. So yeah, I was wanting to do the XFi complete for the Xfinity products and for it to be unlimited. The past few months we’ve averaged 1.2-1.5 TB usage. We don’t want to pay extra monthly if we can get a better product cheaper. But yeah, thanks again for your prompt response!

    Dont do xfi pods. They only extend the internet connection but dont give you high speed. Set xfinity gateway to bridge mode to act as a modem and invest in a good mesh router. Like nest. That will give you not only the speed youre paying for but whole home coverage. No dead spots

  • @vonte5102

    @vonte5102

    First off the pods ARE a mesh system that extends the network. The pods aren’t supposed to be for speed they’re advertised for rang extension. The funny thing is that I test speed on them which is around 250-300mbps. You only need a consistent 15-25mbps for most devices to run properly. And another thing, extenders or mesh routers you’re taking about never get as high as your modem. They pretty much act like a splitter and the more you have the more the speed will decrease. I’ve seen google nest speeds at 2.1mbps 😂

    I had a similar problem. By default the router offers one SSID and will connect you to the strongest option of either 2.4 or 5.0. I went into the settings and split them under their own SSID. Most all lower bandwidth IoT devices like printers or smart appliances run on 2.4. I have not had any problems since connecting specifically to the 2.4 channel.

With the XB7 I can’t connect and Xfinity has told me that the XB7 selects 5ghz automatically and that I can’t manually go in a separate or select 2 different bandwidths to get the 2.4 to connect my Wyze cams ... is it possible or no ?

  • @graciaHenry

    That is true. You can set it to two different connections naming them both separately or you can have both under one connection name. Some devices only use the 2.4 Ghz like the Wyze cams and others use either or. I have it set to one name for both signals and the smart devices that use both can choose either or depending on demand and signal strength needed.

I happen to have a gig down but in my basement where the kids Xbox is only gets 80mb down. So I’m happen to be evaluating what’s the best approach. Own a modem and mesh wifi or ad a pod and bite the fee. Ugh.

  • @GReviews

    @GReviews

    3 жыл бұрын

    If you're purchasing your own modem that was giving you gig speeds I would go that route save the $14 a month fee and get an extender/mesh system. Yes you would be paying close to $300 or more up front for a good gig modem and a mesh or extender but over time $14 a month plus tax adds up to be more $ in the few years. I would go with that. If you go with the XB7 you can use their pod mesh system and own it at about $119 for 3 pods and still have all the perks that come with using the xFi system and app when it comes to control when it comes to family. Also 80mb is enough for online gaming at 4K. If anything, just add an extender and hardwire it directly to the Xbox.

Try testing in the middle of the afternoon when most people are not home using it. I'm on the 400mbps plan, clocking in at 475mbps but at times it would be at 100mbps, but only momentarily.

Interesting Fact: All the speed test websites still showed 600-700 mbps but the actual speed was not more than 150 mbps. I went ahead and hooked up my own modem (Motorola MB7621) / Wifi router (Archer AX1800) and boom.... everything works like a charm and all the aforementioned issues vanished.

I've called about this no less than a dozen times over the past 2 years... and the last two times they scheduled a technician to come out where I had to be home for a 2-3 hour window, and both times the technician didn't show up, didn't call, didn't care. Comcast is the most awful atrocity of customer service on the planet. Last time I spoke with them, their suggestion was that I pay more for faster speeds and lock into a 3 year contract with them. I'm going to have to look into getting my own modem because this is especially disruptive when I'm losing connection to work. I have the xb7 currently and it preforms well when it works but drops internet or cuts out like a drunk dropping cigarettes at the bar... I miss the reliability of the xb3 that never did any of this but it is nice when everyone is doing something that requires internet we all have no issues. Keep it in a cool area and do your best to prevent dust from getting to it. I made a Frame around it and draped cheese cloth over it and seems to be better. . It builds up too much heat .

    I was on a 600 mbps plan and barely got 150 mbps at any given time. Call drops, apps not working on my phone, streaming lags and latency were all common issues.

    We set both signals to one Network ID so that way devices can choose either the 2.4 or to 5.0 gigahertz as needed depending on the load that is currently being used if there is an overload on one channel or the other

    wow... you guys get horrible speeds. I use same tech but with Rogers. It was a back and forth debate between bell 1.5 or rogers 1.0. I went rogers for better price and I get TV ignite with it for same price as bell was just offering the 1.5. My speeds are 1,000 download and 75 upload. tested. The bell 1.5 is 1500 download and 1500 upload. but........ screw bell. Rogers is more reliable. With bell your stuff is going to be cutting out periodically. With rogers it never cuts out. Which is critical for streamers and gamers.
