TGA needs competition. The industry should want an awards event driven by fan donations to run them. You hire a tone of non bias gamers, who you contract to have an unbiased opinion. They should be fans of the catagory of games they are voting for, and they should always display themselves as fair and unbiased. No game company should be able to pay to have trailers, that way there is no way that 1 company can pay more than another and get better slots for showing their trailers. Every game in the awards should have an aggregated score based on open critic, meta critic, and steam with any zeroes or ones removed from those sites unless the games is broken and unplayable. I say this because those sites remove zeroes and ones from Sony games, and they they don't do that for xbox games. Let the fans vote for games, and separately and have a fan game of the year for every catagory.

You can't discount the Xbox tax... and lay proof of Metro and than dismiss them and yet their votes still count and affect the Meta percentage. They're also not the only site sensationalized their reviews, they're just more open with it.

If Starfield released last year or the year before it would've been in a worse state than it did this year, probably would've hit a 70+ metacritic instead. Starfield just a GOTY in any timeline

I don't believe there is a Xbox tax but I do believe that some pundits can't put aside their bias to be objective. And it is not just one sentence in Metro review. Just the other day I saw a clip where someone translated guys from Meristation talking about reviewing Control. One guy says they thought it was a 8.5 but the other guy says they gave it a 7 in the end because it is not Playstation exclusive.

So media bias is acknowledged in other areas but somehow exempt in gaming? It doesn't need to be on mass to affect the narrative. You only need a handful of outlets to steer the discourse. Look at politics.

Baldurs Gate 3 caught the Zeitgeist this year, Elden Drink did it last year. Phantom Liberty is the okay CD:PR you've cleaned the shit off the bedsheets now and you've earned ONE do-over. (It was fucking great, but there's history) - its absolutely deserving of the you've unfucked the game and made a really strong 20 hour expansion. All of the endings were fucking depressing.

And I don't necessarily have to be sensitive to it to not desire to listen to someone push an opposing narrative with no evidence to refute the theory. All I've seen in opposition are essentially insults like "silly... Ridiculous... Supposed" with no actual reason that it doesn't exist. I can clearly see that it does on the other hand.

I listen to every one of your shows and leave a comment every time. 1 of the two times you respond, you choose to imply that Im in the wrong for not listening to a show that pushes a narrative I disagree with.

Rand is such a hypocrite. You complain about people not being intimately familiar with every game in the industry and meanwhile you have massive blindspots in what you play. How can you speak on the industry with massive blindspots like Nintendo. Then you want to talk about people ignoring Xbox. Practice what you preach.

It’s bad faith to weave these webs of conspiracy with the San Francisco elite and their agenda against Xbox with the same type of blindspots in what you play. Nobody can play everything and that should be obvious. The fact that these people are part of The Game Awards doesn’t make them super human. The laws of time and space still apply. Stop feeding into this nonsense. Xbox fandom looking a lot like MAGA right now. Conspiracy theories and grievance politics. Xbox has underachieved for 20 years and 2023 didn’t change that, but at least Xbox had games this year. They had a solid lineup. They look like they are moving in the right direction. How about having some patience and not blaming others for the failures of Xbox.

Funny how Rand brought up Genshin complaining about critics not playing sea of thieves. Like bruh did you play genshin, did you even play sea of thieves? Literally only Xbox people are complaining about the game awards. Plenty of games in these great year of gaming got snubbed. No one’s crying about it
