When it comes to the safety of residential buildings, smoke alarms are one of the most important, life-saving aspects that you can implement quickly and easily yourself. If you are a tenant, your landlord is responsible; if you are the owner, you can equip your house or apartment with sufficient smoke alarms yourself. We had a fire ourselves a few years ago and we were only woken up by the smoke alarms, which is why I have always been convinced that this is an absolute necessity.
But times have changed for smoke alarms too. Most recently we had networked smoke detectors from X-Sense, and now we have a combined smoke and carbon monoxide detector / CO. This even has an additional voice output that tells you exactly where the "cause of the alarm" is. According to the manufacturer, this is supposed to be more effective than a pure alarm sound, especially for children.
There is also a replaceable battery in CR123A format, which should last for 5 years.
There are 2 sensors, so that both photoelectric and electrochemical measurements are possible.
With the SC07-WX version, there is also a WLAN variant that can be integrated into the X-Sense app.
