In fact, she was the best woman singer of her generation not in terms of uk, but worldwide. She made things happen.
Nice to see Celeste her daughter on stage with her mother.

Poly was ahead of the times.
I wish I could have seen them even once. RIP Poly, you are loved and missed still.
Absolute legend
Raw talent, pure gold.
I was at this gig it was the first time I’d seen them in many years and sadly the last. What a special band they were, not given enough merit or recognition for their ahead of their time ideas and attitude. R.I.P X-ray spex.

Totally agree with you, they were well ahead of their time with the things they sang about regarding materialism and the plastic throwaway society we live in. I don't like to use the old cliche of them being so under rated because that's all down to personal opinion and taste of course. One thing I didn't give them due credit for at the time is the fact that they truly were unique in what they did and didn't feel a need to imitate the sex pistols who back then could do no wrong in the eyes of most of us young punks and who were indeed not only a big influence on most " punk bands" but more like a guide ( no fault of their own ) for what it was or wasn't to be in order to be seen as " punk" whereas poly was the real deal and a true individual in every sense. May she rest in punk rock peace.
Luv you forever poly xx rip
Brilliant what a great live rendition of this song Rest in Peace Poly x

My dream is at least a “one off” show - maybe 2027 - the 50th anniversary of punk at the Roxy in 1977? Or 2028 for the 50th anniversary of the Germ Free Adolescents album?
I FUCKING CRIED!!! 😭😭
Awesome Sid

There’s very few of the old bands I still listen to regularly since The Olden Days but X Ray Spex are definitely one of them. Lot of people pointing out how they were ahead of their time but I reckon they were just time - less. Crass are another one, - older I get the more I appreciate the music and not just their lyrics.
I bought the B-52 LP by accident, I meant to buy X-ray Spex, it didn't matter, they were both good (XRS was better)
