X-men is a great series. The battles between Magneto and Professor X are legendary because you can see both sides. Magneto is based on Malcom X who during the civil rights era was more militant and wanted to violently oppose the segregation black people were facing in America. While professor X is based on Martin Luther King who wanted non violent opposition and reconciliation between the races.

The success of Blade (1998) allowed Marvel to set the stage for future comic book adaptations. To that end, the success of X-Men (2000) which had a much larger budget and bigger stars paved the way for the ubiquitous, modern day, blockbuster, superhero films we see today. First wave of new, successful superhero films: X-Men (2000), Spider-Man (2002), X2 (2003), Spider-Man 2 (2004), Batman Begins (2005). X-Men & X2 are still the best in that franchise. DOFP would've been better if there were more Future scenes.

The entire general concept behind the X-Men story is about the prejudice that humans have towards mutants. The X-Men comics came out in the early 1960s during the civil rights movement. For the creators to take such a strong real world issue and make it the backbone of a comic series that can have an endless variety of unique characters was genius. So I'm glad you guys focused a good deal of the discussion on the oppression of mutants from humans because that's what the X-Men comics were all about.

Xmen is part of the MCU in the comics. Even in the 90s cartoon version has a handful of characters that pop in and out of it like Wanda and her brother, Capt America to name a few. The description for Rogues power actually will be useful info for maybe something we will see later to explore. In the comics Rogue actually does kill someone and absorbs their power permanently from someone you guys recognize from the Avengers. I can't wait until you explore the Xmen movies. I enjoy them regardless what critics may say.

As far as the evolutionary stuff I wouldn't say it's an automatic thing that evolutionary cousins would go to war. Not as a rule or anything. I just think it's our human attitudes to things that are different being bad that causes us to attack. But it's not a rule of evolution that we must destroy anything else so there can be only one. We do still have our primate cousins wandering around in the world. Plenty of species of birds and lizards and all sorts of things that are in close relation and live happily with each other. But as far as how humans would react to a new species branching off of humans then it's pretty obvious that it'd lead to some butting of heads but I don't think it'd go straight to genocide. Sure, you'd have people here and there whose minds would go there (we've had examples of people trying to wipe others from existence) but I wouldn't say the general public would feel that way. There would be a lot of fear and a lot of misinformation going around and there would probably be a period of segregation coming back because us humans just love repeating history. We seem to have a huge problem with just letting people live their own lives as they see fit. So as far as the discussion went after the movie, yeah, there would probably end up being bloodshed and a long time for people to adjust to these changes but I don't think there would be a need to exterminate an entire species. Either through war or forcing people to evolve. Our DNA mixing together would probably mean we'd all become one people anyhow, eventually. It'd just be a very hard transition.

When you were a four year old kid reading the comics, you saw were flashy characters and good guys vs bad guys. You weren't reading the comics for the deeper stories of human rights, prejudice, oppression, and the evolution of society. These are the things the guys are discussing.
