I’ve always enjoyed the X-Men series, though a couple of them leave a bit to be desired. Overall they’re good fun. This film came out in 2000 & is really one of the first movies that showed what could be done with this type of material (the original Spider-Man trilogy, The Lord of the Rings trilogy & The Harry Potter series being the others that showed the market was there for comic book & fantasy movies, provided they were done competently).

I still say it: X-Men is better as all the Marvel Avengers bullshit. X-Men was a series where you were able to think, where you were able to connect the powers, you could be able to talk about it, discuss it, they both are the best showing it. Marvel Avengers? You are just in a train, where you have pretty much no way to predict what happens, its all pure random and not following any logic you can interpolate yourself. I LOVE X-MEN AND IT SHOULD CONTINUE!

She's always been an interesting and tragic character. In the comics, she was a bit older and a villain who would go on to completely absorb Carol Danvers' (Captain Marvel) powers, including all of Danvers' memories. This drove Rogue a bit crazy because she couldn't differentiate between her own memories and Danvers' memories. She would eventually find redemption and side with the X-Men becoming a member.

You guys are getting really good at guessing. In the main line of comics, mutants are an off-shoot of humanity but people have experimented with using mutants to give powers to regular humans. Meanwhile in one of their alternate universes, mutants were supposedly created by humans who were trying to re-create Captain America.

In the movie world, the MCU people didn't have the rights to the X-Men, so they couldn't use any of their characters. They weren't even allowed to use the word "mutant." In the comics, there was crossover like Marian was talking about at the end. Now MARVEL owns everything, and the next movies are going to have multiple universes colliding, so the X-Men are going to become a part of the MCU.

The enhanced ones in the MCU are actually mutants. Fox had the rights to the X-Men so Marvel could not call Wanda the Scarlet Witch (mutant) and could not use the words “mutant”. Now that Marvel has those rights back, the MCU will use the word mutants, like they have already called Wanda “The Scarlet Witch” (WandaVision).

@@MJoy4Fun Mutants in Marvel comics are always born mutants. They did what they did for Wanda and Quick Silver since they sold the rights to mutants to Fox before Marvel started making their own movies . Now that Marvel has those right back, they are correcting this: 1. Wanda is finally called her X-Men/Mutant name “The Scarlet Witch” in WandaVision. Marvel also reveals she had her powers as a kid, again undoing the “enhanced” label, showing she was a mutant all along, like the comics. 2. X-Men’s Quick Silver made a cameo (MIND BLOWING CAMEO) in WandaVision. TWO MUTANTS! 3. One of the most iconic mutants and leader of the X-Men, Professor Xavier, is in Dr. Strange Multiverse of Madness. This is the main difference between Mutants and everyone else, the mutants were born with their powers. Everyone else got them from somewhere. This is also why mutants are some of the most powerful beings in the multiverse. Keep an eye out for the next movie for mutants, after the “Mutants/X-Men” movie, “Avengers vs X-Men”. This will follow the comics and clearly separate mutants from everyone else.

  • @Rowgue51

I always found the development of the MCU perplexing. Instead of developing one huge interconnected universe like it is in the actual comics they treat it like each individual character and each team exists in some isolated universe where nothing from any other character or team's universe exists. That was always the key difference between marvel and dc. Because dc placed all their characters in fictional cities that were supposed to be their own isolated universes. And all of marvel's characters were placed in real world cities and supposed to all exist together. But the way they went about making the movies they kind of used the formula that dc uses in their books.

There is a lot of back-story between Rogue's kiss and her finding Logan. In these skipped years Rogue is rejected by her family, takes to wearing an apocrapha robe so as not to accidently touch somebody. She is (temporarily) taken in by Caliban and his sewer dwelling mutants but they soon don't want her around either. Then Caliban tells her "I feel that there is somebody far to the north, somebody who could withstand your power". He is sensing either Logan or Romulus or Sabertooth or Wild Child but it just so happens that it is Logan she bumps into. She attempts to insert herself into his life as she wants to belong to 'a family'.

  • @MJoy4Fun

quite exactly. we found Rogue to be very different than any of the mutants.. her power is somewhat the hardest to control when the emotions are involved... craving a human touch made her realise that only Logan can be around her.. she is mainly scared to not hurt anyone, and Logan enjoys pain after so many times having his claws out.. and that makes Logan the best candidate for her

It's funny how great and addictive comics used to be. Since they were huge for me while growing up, it's still hard to say which one is the best. F/X are helping of course, but I wrote an X-Men paper book in 1997. It was lost or stolen, and it was all characters I made up with different names and powers. It's always a competition. 2000 was huge for X-Men starting, then Batman was huge in 2005 etc. I just want to see "Moon Knight" now!!!

This is a great franchise, but you need to know, before you get into this that it might get confusing along the way. I’ve been a fan of this series for awhile but I only kind of figured this out in recent years that this franchise technically rebooted the whole thing within the same series. It was passed between different writers and directors that didn’t really pay much attention to context or continuity of previous films. So here’s how I have come to make sense of it. The first three are easy to make sense of because they all flow together plot wise, then starting from X-men: First Class on it’s a complete reboot with some returning actors to previous roles but a mostly new cast and some details from previous films altered- think of it as a separate “ universe” almost. That being said, I absolutely love all of these films and it’s one of the most unique superhero franchises out there. they are also a part of Marvel too, and have potential to interact with other superhero’s that you’ve gotten to know well by now. In the near future of Marvel movies there’s been rumors that some of these X-men characters will show up in the MCU. Most people forget they are Marvel characters because this was released by Fox and not by Marvel studios, but they are just as beloved but maybe not as well know by the general Marvel crowd today. I’m so glad you decided to enter this series. I think you’ll love it. I have to say, as well, I love how perceptive you guys are. Not many reactors to this movie would have picked up on magnetos helmet purpose so early into the movie. It goes into more detail on how he got it in later movies but, exactly, that’s the general idea. It was created to block out any mutant who had the power to read or search through the mind and manipulate it.

She is right, he was not a mutant to begin with, Magneto put him in that machine to make him a mutant so he can see how it feels to be a mutant so he can stop talking crap about all the mutants.

LOL Marvel comics created the X-Men and mutants, because they were stumped for reasons why they should all have powers. They decided just to say, certain people are born with them, and have to group together because people were afraid of them. Since racism was a hot social issue at the time (and still is today), it was easy to parley that into current stories.

Stan Lee always said the "X" stood for extra as in their mutations. Keep in mind he based the idea for the comic off of the real life struggles of the civil rights movement. Professor X is Dr. Martin Luthor King Jr and Magneto is Malcolm X. He may have lifted the X from Malcolm X. The mutant struggle mirrors the civil rights movement.

Magneto's thinking about fighting humanity is really justified, you will understand later why he wants to fight them, because mutants suffered because of humans, mutants were oppressed, in the upcoming films you will see movies that talk about the past and you will see that Magneto's motives are really justified.

The Fox X-Men did Storm terribly! In the comics, she’s one of the best hand to hand fighters. Her power is strong, precise, and instantaneous, and does NOT have to build up. They watered her down incredibly! Marvel will do Storm right! Kevin Feige has already said so!

@@MJoy4Fun Exactly! Idk if you read the comics, but you should check out the latest X-Men comics, “House of X”, “Hellfire Gala”, “Planet-Sized X-Men”. Storm is insanely OP and realizing her full power. She’s become the Queen of the Mutants basically! It’s amazing!

@@dubletar7351 i disagree, she is handled perfectly here its just that the budget for this one isnt appropriate for her BASHIZ powerset and would need a higher budget to make it look good because these are meant to be grounded and simple in look but larger than people think they are! She is powered better in 2 and 3 i do agree with that but and in 3 she actually fights hand to hand too and in extended end scene she uses a wave to kill and attack her enemies!
