    In addition to submarine tracking, satellite tracking, and military/ civilian intelligence, these drones in relay mode also track aircraft carriers. The surveillance of the US aircraft carriers is near 100%. In the age of hypersonic missiles, any carriers are sitting ducks. Carries have excellent but limited defense capabilities, but offense slightly has the edge. Can a carrier survive a swamp of 1000 thousand decoyed drones, jets, and 100 hypersonic miles at 1/30 of the cost of a carrier? There is practically no technological gap. If China sinks the US carriers, then what's next?

    Thi Chinese drine might be compared to the US MQ-4 but appears to more closely resemble the MQ-9 in design. The supported swept wing is an odd choice for a reconnaissance aircraft because it trades lift for speed which is normally undesirable. Also, the RQ-4 has an ummensely larger engine shtoud which could house a larger engine or do more thermal obfuscation. The chinese drone uses a much older turboprop design and be far more detectable than American drones. Before considering things like special materials, construction and EW systems, IMO this Chinese drine likely is using very ancient technology as a base starting point

  • @douginorlando6260

    @douginorlando6260

    Ай бұрын

    The supported swept wing is structurally more rigid than a traditional straight wing. This translates to either a wider wing span or a lighter wing. It’s a good design approach and will lead to a much wider wing span in the future. Wider wing span will improve lift, especially in thin air at a reduced airspeed. Reduced airspeed will improve drag and allow improved engine thrust per horsepower expended. A future design will likely fly higher, slower, longer, farther. At 10 miles altitude, the line of sight to the horizon is 283 miles. This increases substantially at higher altitudes. A more powerful radar with a larger antenna will likely be included to monitor surface ships hundreds of miles away.

    that is one of their purposes, to take the hits that would of otherwised cost an aircrew.......drones are easily replaced, air crew not so much. And given their expected stealthy nature, might be a bit harder to kill then one would imagine......plus swarms of the buggers could in theory overwhelm even a fleets anti-air defence....
