I have cams and bulbs. Next purchase is going to be these. I wanted to add some things I learned in my set ups. Some people have the 5G and regular bands that both show on the connections to WiFi. Before you start set up, turn on airplane mode and connect to the one that doesn't say 5G. When your login comes up, backspace the 5G and make sure your password is visible and not asterisks. This has helped me tremendously and worked on all 3 products I have. Picked it up on Wyze forums. Hope this helps and love the vids!

Also, for people who don't have a mesh system but still went with the same SSID/Passphrase you can get to a place in the home far enough away from the router where it switches to 2.4 because 5.0 is weak. That way your phone and device are already on 2.4.

Can the Wyze smart plugs be used w Apple HomeKit?

Can I plug my router into this Timer . And have it turn Off my router for 1 Minute to Recycle then Turn back on. Thanks for your help.

To eliminate the problem in connecting to the correct WiFi: Change your phone WiFi to 2.4GHZ This way setting the plug up it will only see the 2.4 GHZ network and not see the 5.0GHZ

Just checked, Amazon has them for 20 for a 2 pack.

I ordered the plugs and one was DOA (No blue light). Wyze replace that one for free. I set my at the garage service door along with a wyze cam and sensor. If the service door is open (set schedule) it will trigger the plug. And the plug is connecting a 12 volt DC wall adapter transformer switch which connect to a car siren.

Right now the only way I'm doing that is through IFTTT, but it's working fine. Only down side is the 1-2 second delay and internet based. No direct integration

@@TaylorTech Hey Drew, I can't seem to get IFTTT to see the plugs? I'm trying to create a virtual switch but for some reason I can't choose the plug as an option when creating an applet in IFTTT. Any ideas?

How do you connect them to Alexa?

This seems to be another one of those want-to-be automation components. They work maybe and sometimes, but are not reliable. If they cannot even deal with 5G it is best to forget them. Also, I might be wrong, but when you switched via the manual button, the app on the phone did not update the status. This seem a jump back to X10 territory.

I think you're right, in the video, it didn't switch when I manually switched it, but after trying again, it does do it. So some tweaking needs done for sure. I'm curious as to why you want it to connect to 5Ghz wifi? What do you see as the benefit?. 5G has much faster throughput speeds, but that's not necessary on a switch. 2.4 has longer range too.
