Wyoming Gold Backs 👍

Truthfully I see dual purpose in the gold backs. I live in Wyoming and a lot of businesses are starting to accept them here. I'm on a lower wage budget and can't afford gold. With premiums I don't want to pay for less than a 1/10th oz. When I buy silver I pick up a few goldbacks to round out my purchase. It allows me to save for gold while simultaneously being able to multiply my gold stack when I trade. Sure i pay a higher premium but I'll get more gold for less gold when I go to my LCS

Rare AND Collectable, that might be a bit of a stretch to say at this point, but possibly, we'll see what the future holds.

I received my set of Wyoming Goldbacks today and I noticed something that I would like to share. I bought one of each value, and the one and five Goldbacks have extra sparkle. This is not my imagination, I held the one and five side by side to the ten, twenty-five and fifty Goldback and there is a noticeable difference, not in luster, but in sparkle. A design variety perhaps? Has anyone else observed extra sparkle on their Goldbacks?

As someone who pre-ordered his Wyoming set I'm a little annoyed by how the Alpha concept is being rolled out. I think it should have been given (at least in the dollar domination) to all pre-orders as a thank you for supporting the new series. But oh well. It is what it is.

I didn't realize they were different lengths until now.

It would have been nice for you to explain why this series says: Specie Legal Tender Instrument Exchangeable by Goldback Inc. in US Gold Coin to Bearer on Demand Which is not on any of the prior series. Why are the Other 3 series very similar in what it "Says" but this one is Very Different from the other 3 series of notes?

they recently made it possible to directly swap to eagles/buffalo gold coins (50 gold dollars) from goldbacks melt content. They mentioned that while you can exchange it, the goldback itself is worth more than the physical gold within it so its not really a smart trade to do. But you can liquidate a goldback to fed notes first then turn around and get us gold coin to not lose that premium as much. As to why exactly, I'm not sure, its to position it as a more serious link to actual us mint gold coins

I love the idea, but here in Wyoming my LCS is not treating them like true money. Wants to charge additional premium over Goldback for Goldback trade. So not fungible. I offered him to trade Utah GB for a Wyoming GB and he said no. So disappointed that LCS won't treat them like true money. These are being set up as a collectors piece.

probably about twice as much but you would have 1000 pieces of gold to use as a currency. 🤷🏽‍♂️ they are meant to be used for different things. also you get your premium back when you spend goldbacks not true with gold bars..

Are these even worth it on just a investing side. Gold prices have to double at time of purchase to just make back the premium.

Maybe Montana will be the next state for Goldbacks. One of them would need to show a roll of dental floss and zircon encrusted tweezers. And, don't forget the pigmy pony.

You can spend these where ever some one will take them. They have been produced for four states so far: Utah, Nevada, New Hampshire, and now Wyoming. Mostly because those states are the most favorable to using gold and silver directly as currency (as it should be). Goldbacks are considered an alternative private currency that is legal based on how the constitution defines currency and provides certain protections for state’s rights. The are fungible and different states’ series are interchangeable. They are a viable currency as long as some will take them in trade for goods and services. The biggest critique of them is that the premium is “high” because the amount of gold per Goldback is actually only 40-60% of the value of the Goldback. But if you spent $3.75 Goldback then you can buy $3.75 worth of goods. The “premium” of the Goldback is due to the technology and security features that goes into making one. A Goldback seems like it’s an elegant and simple design-just gold foil between a polymer, but the process is very intricate and the notes are extremely difficult to counterfeit. Goldbacks are a smart concept as long as the economy for them continues to grow.

So, basically you're paying $20.00+ for less than $2.00 worth of gold (on the 1 denomination bill). And you thought the premiums on SILVER coins was bad?? Hell, even the premiums on 1/10oz gold Eagles is a BARGAIN compared to these Goldbacks. I understand they are also works of art and fine engraving, but paying 1000%+ premium for the gold content is pure insanity in my humble opinion. Your mileage may (and probably WILL) vary.

Oh, thank goodness!!! So, are these available to the public or are you just displaying the freebies you get for pimping them?

the art is not to impressive, i wish goldbacks would go with more amazing art like the early american paper money

I can buy Goldbacks at the UPMA market value that is fungible and if the gold market goes up I can sell those Goldbacks back to UPMA at the higher market value and by doing that I can make a profit.

I'm just saying that if you have a UPMA account premiums are no longer a thing if you vault. If you choose to hold your own then you are charged 5 percent when transferring to fiat, which by my math is still a pretty good deal considering the other premiums out there. Take care.
