Wyatt's Story: A message on Fentanyl
With his big and shining personality, 23-year-old Wyatt Williamson lit up every room he entered.
"Wyatt really didn't know a stranger," his mother, Julie Hofmans, said. "Everybody loved Wyatt. He was my best friend."
Wyatt tragically passed away at age 23 after taking a pill he thought was Xanax, but was actually laced with the powerful synthetic opioid, fentanyl.
By sharing Wyatt's story, Julie hopes to save other families from tragedy and heartache.
“Are you willing to take a chance with your life … to take a pill and you don’t know where it came from?”

As someone who is a Kentuckian, born and bread, I have witnessed the Fentanyl epidemic in our Commonwealth, personally in so many different capacities. I am heart sick for those who have encountered Fentanyl in any way either through personal addiction or the addiction or poisoning of those they love. I'm sending so much love to you, Mama. ❤
Children have been dying for more than a few generations, had we heard those stories of "stories that needed to be told," Wyatt and others today may still be here.
😢 I am so sorry for the loss of your beautiful son. Your grief and passion about not having this happen to another family speaks volumes and comes through loud and clear. I wish you peace in your days, years forward. 🙏🏼
It's not only in Kentucky. We has this happen here many times in NJ. Two years ago people at a party took - what they THOUGHT were OxyContin's - unaware they were laced with fentanyl and multiple people died, as did a few people in the same town who were NOT even at that party.
And this young man reminds me of my best beloved son
My best beloved son needs to see this
He was too special for this horrific n traumatic life heaven needed tht special angel tht y god chose him
Thanks for the alert! Wyatt is with the Lord now.
I hope kids watch and learn.
What a complete and shameful lose of life. What a beautiful young man that made one stupid mistake and took a Xanax laced with fentanyl
It's always sad to hear these stories, I have 6 great-grandchildren that I worry about, I am scared to death for them 😢

So tell them not to do drugs and show them this
The same story again and again. Each one a unique individual created by God. So very sad. I lost a friend in May from fentanyl poisoning. This mom is so brave to share his story and hope it saves others - I’m sure it has already.
So Sorry for your loss it only takes 1 time and death comes knocking We are losing way too many young ones to these insidious drugs The word must go out people are dropping by the gross not dozen
This video came up on my feed today. How do they know I lost my son in 2020 as well from fentanyl. Mama I cried hearing this again it just brought up the tears. What a waste and nothing is being done. You're Wesley is beautiful and I'm sure my Eric and him are maybe hanging out waiting for us. I belong to a group helping parents heal on Facebook and that was a great help to me.

@@traybern praying you find compassion and less hate.
Heartbreaking! We lost my husbands only child September 4, 2022. She was like one of my own. She also took something that was laced with fentanyl! & what makes this that much harder is my husbands nephew same age as his daughter is the one who gave her the substance she took. Having no idea it was laced w/ fentanyl! They were close like brother & sister & no family should ever have to feel so divided over losing a family memeber. Everyone in this family seems to be ashamed of the cause of death. Like they want to protect her reputation, so no one is talking about it. I desperately want to spread awareness. Not allow her death to be in vain. I want her death to have purpose & be meaningful. So that maybe by telling her story it could save atleast one person her death will not have been for nothing. Payton Alyssa James baby girl we love you so much & miss u so bad. Keep watching over your daddy. He's so lost without u!He's not the same man he use to be. So come visit him in his dreams. ❤ love you baby girl.

My brother passed on September 4th 2016 just wanted to point it out, he overdosed on opioid at 10 am that morning. May God bless all them beautiful souls out there. 🎉
In the summer of 2017, I underwent open heart surgery. Throughout my life I had already had 33 both major and minor surgeries so I was expecting the same after surgery pain. But the heart surgeon ordered Fentanyl for the pain and let me tell you, that was the best thing I had ever had before. And no, I did not get high or anything like that but I must say that it was the best post surgery med I ever had.

My heartfelt sympathy.
I live in Ontario, Canada and many years ago i bought 1gram of marijuana from a neighbour and almost died because he weighed the fentanyl on the same scale as the weed. My condolences for your loss🙏
So sorry mama. God bless you and give you peace.
"ONE PILL CAN KILL" and the people selling them know it! That is murder ... And the murderers do not discriminate they don't care . If they did they would test their merch and make less of a profit. Not sell the laced ones. They are murdering thousands of the most trusting, and noble persons It's heart breaking

I am so sorry you lost your beautiful son. Thank you for sharing his story. I will pray for you.
I am so sorry, hun. My family is from Bowling Green and I almost lost a cousin a month ago from this shit! Wyatt was a beautiful boy..
Thinking of you,,I also lost my son, after a overdose of pethidine ,given to him in hospital by a doctor who wrote it up wrong , he was 35 ,with a month old baby boy ,😢
That terrible cry of the mother at the end should be a wake up call to every one.
So many tragic stories like this!
I’m sorry for your loss. He was beautiful. I’m from KY too.
Handsome boy. I have no words. Hugs
Prayers ❤️ thank you for sharing sorry
GOD Bless you.. As a mother of two drug addicted children.
I’m so sorry for your loss!
Omg your story made me cry and I've watched many and they are all sooo sad but yours was the one that brought me to tears. What a great, super handsome man he was, he could have been a model and seemed so full of life. I have 2 sons of my own one never did drugs, the youngest one did but he is 40 now and I still hope every day that he doesn't take THAT pill that can kill. RIP Wyatt
This is sad/ tragic. He is such a handsome, lively young man. Young adults seem to take drugs these day and you just wonder how it start. Kids need to be reminded that it’s addictive and difficult to stop which leads to illnesses, homelessness, joblessness,… then the roulette effect that it could be deadly. Sorry for your loss. Hope you heal soon.
I'm so sorry ❤❤❤
RIP TILL WE MEET TO PART NO MORE ❤
Tragic. Bless you for telling us your story.
Im so sorry ma'am...i hear you

Kids? Anxiety? Now I've heard it all! You want anxiety? Try being a 50 year old male with a mortgage and tons of other responsibilities. Funny, I've never even considered drugs as a way to deal with that.
I've seen Julie before at school. I wish her the best in life and in the future. ♥️♥️
What a beautiful child! Im so very sorry for your loss.
Thank you for sharing your heartbreaking story with ALL of us. This is such a VERY important topic that all of humanity NEEDS to know about! Sending you so much healing love, light, peace & strength from Sarasota Florida. Wyatt loves you always. 🙏🏼💚☀️✌🏼💪🏼🇺🇸🌎♥️🥰💯
I am so sorry 😢for your loss, I'm struggling with a friend's addiction, meth coke, and it's scary!
I am so sorry for yourvloss. I hope that fentynal awareness spreads to all people. This is so important!
No television commercials directed at young people that show the risks of taking pills that aren't prescribed by medical professionals. Why don't people complain to their representatives about it?

Oh how tragic! I'm so sorry this happened.
I am so sorry for the loss of your beautiful son. Unfortunately his death is exactly like my brothers death three years ago as he died taking what he thought was Zanex and it turned out to be laced with a fentanyl. My parents lives will never be the same as I know yours will not either. My parents like you will have a hole in their hearts forever. Sending love your way and again so sorry for your loss.
And I believe that there has always been kids ,adolescents ,young adults,…who take these risks and I am so glad that I hate things that I cannot control because I believe I would be a street urchin as well
❤ so sorry
May your son RIP. I'm sorry for your loss
Also ask "where is all this fentanyl originating from?".... and think about why..
Thankyou
So, so sorry Mom😢😢
Think about it, Covid, now fentanyl, come on , wake up people.
Rip drugs are evil 🙏
In Europe I never heard of xanax and about panic attacks and anxiety disorders as a wide spread problem. Of course some people have it, but ist is not wide spread in the population."The prevalence of anxiety disorders and panic attacks in Europe varies by country, data source, and measurement method. However, according to the World Health Organization, there were about 36 million people in the European Region with anxiety disorders in 2018, representing 4.1% of the population. Anxiety disorders include general anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, specific phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. In different European countries, the prevalence of anxiety disorders and panic attacks may vary depending on cultural, social, economic and other factors. For example, according to the 2020 survey, the highest percentage of people suffering from anxiety was recorded in France (21%), and the lowest in Lithuania (3%). The highest percentage of people suffering from depression was recorded in the UK (30%), and the lowest - in the Czech Republic (6%). The highest percentage of people experiencing stress was recorded in Ireland (60%), and the lowest - in Luxembourg (28%)." VS. "Anxiety disorders are the most common mental health disorders in the US, affecting 27.3% of American adults."
Warnings only affect some people.
I asked my doc to prescribe appetite suppressants like the kind I found in a pharmacy in Mexico. I found it really worked and I could stop on my own, no problem. My doc said I didnt need to lose weight. What? I am 25 lbs heavier than my usual adult weight! He told me not to take anything from Mexico and that he won't give me meds. I am so tempted to buy from Mexico but I have never taken strong drugs so if I get counterfeit drugs it would most likely kill me. What can I do??? Yes, I eat right.
A sad loss. I wonder why he was doing Xanex.? That's not a party drug to my mind, but I only can state my own life experience.
why do children take drugs knowing it could kill them?
I can’t help but want to help you but I am struggling to keep my own head straight
wait.. so he took xanax without a prescription and those are the ones laced with fentanyl? I'm worried now. how do we know if our prescription medicines are not mixed with fentanyl@
@leea1988

Most likely he bought XANAX from someone else and it was counterfeit made to look like XANAX. If it's bought from a drug store that's still in proper packaging it's almost certainly not mixed with fentanyl. RIP Wyatt.
Don't understand why people are taking these drugs in the 1st place. If you are not sick why are you taking something that is harmful. Why are so many kids doing it? What is the purpose?
I can't imagine your suffering, but I hear it in your voice. My question is, why did he take the Xanax in the first place, and where did he get it? My understanding is that the Xanax that my daughter and I take is safe because it is prescribed by our family doctor and we get it through our pharmacy. The fentanyl laced pills come from street sales or online sales.
My son's doctor gives it to him! Destroyed my son!!
Drugs suck, but they dont if you dont dot hem...................
My son too..😢

So sorry, my daughter too. Sophia.
So easy to die this way nowadays. Street drugs weren't so risky in the past and everybody was doing them.
It's disgusting that the U.S. open border policy that allows the illegal easy importation of fentanyl through drug cartel operations gets no discussion in the American media. They don't seem to have American interests as one of their priorities.

...a woman who takes an epidural during birth is unaware of that the medication she is receiving contains fentanyl. Babies born with epidural tend to have more of a chance to develop a drug addiction and babies have a hard time being breast fed (because they're drugged)
The people on here saying horrible things are either trolls, a-holes, or most likely both. Certainly they couldn’t be parents. You people make me sick. Have a little compassion.
Yes Ma am you tell everyone WHY he died yell it
Why would they lace Xanax with fentanyl ? when fentanyl is so expensive.. they can't make money on that.... they're losing money..

its an old, sad story. its prohibition. most of us sometimes likes to het high. so you habe to play russian roulette with the black market. we as a society mist find a way to deal with this facts. that doesnt mean, things like xanax should be available everytime for everybody but we need to find a way that ADULTS! get clean stuff. Prohibition has failed.
