Another fun one

London was bombed terribly by Zeppelins that flew high but came low to bomb. There was no air raid sirens in WW1. So you might be in a theatre or a pub and a bomb would come through the roof! I have a small picture frame that was made from part of a strut frame of L39 Zeppelin that was shot down at Potters Bar, London in 1916. My uncle was convalescing at a hospital nearby from a head wound received in France at the front. He picked a piece of the wreck up and made it a picture frame out of it. He was a very clever man becoming the owner and engineer of a company called edmund metal works. In 1968 he won a contract to design and make a large part of one of 3 Chitty Chitty Bang Bangs used in the film in 1969.

Cool, WWI doesn't seem to be as mentioned as much anymore.
