AKI developers were also sleeping in their office and their games were better IMP. I think it had more to do with Japanese culture. I hope in the future their no crunch for any development teams. It's not good for them nor is it fans. Either way, American developers are not willing or probably not allowed by law to do what they do in Japan and that's at least part of the reason 2K20 was subpar besides 2K firing Yuke's along with not knowing how to use the engine they took from Yuke's before firing them. You figure they would do that in the years since 2K15 that they were taking co-development credit. 😅 I guess micromanaging doesn't sound as good on the box art.

@@jordanmccluskey891 It's crunch is not a sleep over. Former THQ producers talked about going out with the Yuke's devs for dinner then the Yuke's guys went back to the office.

I can't wait to see what Yukes has in store for us with their AEW game.

Man, Yuke’s is definitely an incredible studio. They definitely cared about quality, and when they were under THQ, it was a legendary partnership as they allowed Yuke’s to be creative with their ideas and gave them all the time they needed, unlike 2K who always told them to start from scratch every time and rush them to release the games as quickly as possible since they wanted only money, not caring how much of the same every game was, which must’ve been stressful for Yuke’s. I hope their workers are fine now, as I can’t wait for the AEW game! I don’t care if I have to wait years for this game, as long as the developers had fun making this game, then I’ll be happy.

THQ and Yukes Legends

Man the workers preforming moves to each other, having meetings in steel cages, using action figures to see how they can use TLC in the games make Yukes feel like nerds for wrestling which I ABSOLUTELY LOVE. Plus I find it pretty funny in the entertaining way that Yukes employees would sleep in the office either underneath their workspace or in a bunkbed. Honestly these facts make me 10x more hyped for AEW's video game then I was before

Nothing funny or entertaining about watching hard working developers have to sleep at work and miss out on time with their family because of crunch. It's a very serious gaming industry issue that need to be addressed but seems to keep getting swept under the rug whenever it comes up. Glad this channel at least put some light on the matter and it is being talked about more often in recent years.

The best Yukes Wrestling game made ever in my opinion is Smackdown vs Raw 2006 because of the Bar Room Brawl match in a Bar area

I always loved them. It's when they merged with 2k I knew it was gonna be ass. I'm glad they no longer have to compromise.

All I can say is... Thank You Yukes. You and AKI made the best wrestling games we'll ever know.

This is kinda dark. but their efforts paid off. these games were my childhood, had great memories with these games. I'm only one of the millions who played and enjoyed these games.

I love the dedication that yukes puts in for the wwe games if they didn’t part ways with 2k 2k20 might’ve been one of the best wrestling games of all time. I can’t wait to see their aew game I bet it’s going to be great

The fashion magazines and the mocap dolls are pretty good ways to sort ideas and develop animations, I'll keep that in mind for the future.

Bless Yukes. You can tell they're true wrestling fans. 2k just treat wrestling like the least favorite child and care more about basketball.

that's dedication we need the game developers to be like that now, they slap something together and call it a day.. not saying its bad but you can tell the quality of games thru Yukes what a good dev team they are Sorley missed in the community I'm sure

This is why they had the best games and also why I have a major feeling AEW game will be better than WWE 2k22.

Parted ways sounds nice. 2K fired them, took their engine, and then tried to ask them how it worked.

After watching this it's even more clear that 2k and yukes are from 2 entirely different planets. The dedication and passion yukes had for wwe games was unmatched by any developer team and it was apparent in the games they made. I can't wait for the aew game and to once again play a wrestling game that actually feels like it was passionately worked on.

AKI Corporation devs used to sleep in their offices as well. You're not gonna get that level of dedication from modern teams.

Yukes left WWE2K while developing WWE2K20 I guess that's what was responsible for all the bugs and glitches and crashes in the game

2K fired them after Yuke's finished WWE 2K19. Yuke's started WWE 2K at the same time as Visual Concepts started 2K20, you can tell by the game files, as both used 2K18 as a base and 2K20 reintroduced bugs that were patched in 2K19, and saw the return of intros that were cut, such as the old London and Spanky intro that was removed in 2K19, which introduced a bug with Spanky's jacket tassels. Not only did 2K fire them, they kept the engine and tried to ask Yuke's how to use it, even though Visual Concepts were supposedly "co-developing" the game since 2K15.

i grew up with those early titles and they always delivered with every entry and i didnt even mind the bugs in some of the early titles but they knew what they were doing for sure cant wait for yukes aew console game as i know itll be smash hit cant wait to pick up my copy yukes will always be number 1 in fans minds when it comes to wrestling titles keep up the great video work smacktalks

@@waynecusick7731 The gameplay still holds up. Yuke's gameplay is just not fun and hasn't been for awhile. Games like Virtual Pro Wrestling 2 No Mercy still has massive mod like Feel the Bang, WWF legends, updates like Lucha Underground, ROH and AEW rosters and the VPW2 Freem Edition. I enjoy it vanilla though. The last wrestling game AKI did was Def Jam Fight for New York The Takeover in 2006. The fighting styles are still more detailed and the animations are better. Yuke's hiring the AKI director at Kenny Omega's request will probably sure up the gameplay.

I'm going to miss Yuke's they had a passion for wwe game's and 2k just making the same stuff and copy and paste with update roster

I hope the people that work at WWE Games see this video, so they can see how hard the people at Yukes worked to make their WWE games as amazing as they were. Definitely an incredible studio! Hopefully the people at WWE Games will feel inspired.

Sleeping under their desk was not unique, particularly in Japan. AKI developers used to sleep in their offices, but their games got better ever year. It was always one step forward and two steps back with Yuke's and nobody gets anywhere like that. I hope they don't have an yearly schedule anymore. Crunch isn't good for anyone even the fans. 2K should do some arcade and experimental games in between sim games and even use other teams at visual concepts and different developers underneath their umbrella if they have to, to avoid this and still follow their WWE contract. Or negotiate with and change their contract.

That's a damn shame that despite having the wwe game license 2k would NEVER dedicate to ANY of there games like that.

Can we please stop highlighting Yuke's sleeping under desks like it was a good thing. Those practices are something the industry has worked incredibly hard to break from and @smacktalks I know that your foray into game development pulled back the curtain on a lot of things, including maintaining a healthy work-life balance. (Especially considering how ravenous this sub culture of wrestling fans are)
