Wuppertal Suspension Monorail - Wuppertaler Schwebebahn Beautiful Fall Colors!

Фильм және анимация

The Wuppertal Suspension Monorail is a fantastic monorail dating back to 1901. It is still running today as a vital rail link for commuters as well as being a tourist icon for the city. This is the only one of its kind in the world, and its fast, quiet, and efficient! I was fortunate to visit when the fall colors are in their prime!
During this video, I start at the northern terminus of the line at Oberbarmen station where we watch a monorail turn around to begin its southbound journey. We also watch a monorail being brought online from the storage bays. The monorail follows the Wupper River for much of its route.

Some of the best Wuppertal Schwebebahn footage I've seen. Nicely done Luke, it makes me want to go back to Wuppertal for another ride.

Carol Kim Pedersen I agree. Whenever I doubt my faith in humankind, I watch this.

Very impressive video quality and amazing subject matter. Even for rail enthusiasts, most folks don't know this thing exists. Amazing. Such a good use of otherwise wasted space. Kudos to the Germans for figuring out such a smart place to put public transit. Thanks for showing this marvel to the world in such a quality way.

A enjoyable video of a amazing piece of German engineering, that is over one hundred years old, and still carrying large amounts of passengers every day. I must say I'm envious that here in the UK we don't have a similar system;as to me,this looks like British Victorian engineering that would be at home in any of our large industrial cities.Oh well,we can't have everything!

Luke, last year would have been perfect, the whole summer not a drop of rain and then everything at once, the whole town was flooded.

This is awesome! You even caught the "Kaiserwagen" in operation! Do they run it every day or only for special events?

+Iain Hendry Looks like the next outing is on November 28 and you must buy tickets online for it. I was lucky to catch it! I would have loved to ride it, but maybe I'll plan this my next visit to Wuppertal. Who knows when I'll be back though...

+timosha21 I use a Cannon G30 for most of my videos on youtube. For this video, I also have a couple shots from my iPhone 6S Plus. I used my iPhone for the front view time-lapse video and was very disappointed on how it picked up on every little vibration. I think my old iPhone 5 took steadier shots.
