WTF? This electric car is technically a bicycle

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Jack and Eilis head to Bedford to take a spin in a prototype for a revolutionary new kind of electric vehicle: the DryCycle. Equipped with a fully enclosed cabin, heated seats, windscreen wipers and a crash-tested body, but still legal to ride on cycle lanes, could this be the future of city transport?

I remember when they came out, I even wanted to get one until I seen the complaints for them, the cost was around £400 I think, the only reason I remember that is because I had saved up to get one, but when I heard about cars running into them because they were so low I preordered a Commodore Amiga 500 instead that was coming out which was a similar price, though I wish I had got a C5 now though.

Nah...silly money as always. All electric cycle innovators don't seem to understand that recouping their R&D costs quickly through high priced initial sales, has a very low success rate. Even ICE electric tadpole recumbents are over £10k....a good reason to learn to build our own, and have fun into the bargain. For what it's worth, I think the Drycycle would be much safer as a more prone tadpole configuration; it looks way too unstable on four wheels. Our local high winds would destroy it. A side note - it's all well and good saying this can be riden without a driving test, but part of that is to test the driver's highway code and roadcraft knowledge.

horrific price , looks are a little NHS, as yet four wheels brakes the rules for electric bikes, All you bike designers need to start digging into the past, some very interesting work done over the years now out of patent thinking in particular of a hydraulic assisted system patented in the seventies picked up by Ford and squashed, the inventor claimed his first effort exceeded 70 miles an hour before the old bike frame started to crack up, this was born out by the pro rider who was testing it, now no one wants to do 70 in a drycycle it would be terrifying not to mention unsafe, but presumably that excess power could be used in another direction, hauling granny to the day care center etc.
