I recently got a Zealot as a gift. I haven’t used the turbo because it’s fast enough for me in sport mode. I love it. So far I’m still getting used to it. I’m almost 60 years old and to be perfectly honest it scares the heck out of me. Lol. Loved your video! Hello from the Oregon coast, USA.👍

I love my Zealot. One of the best riding experiences ever with an easy 10/10 and the "Turbo Mode" is not a 30 second boost of power. It's a riding mode that allows you to break 30mph.

Nice review. Always been an EUC rider myself having overlooked boards because of what I thought they would be like to ride over our pavements and toe paths (on my route anyhow). Now considering getting one just to learn and have the option. Impressively empty roads for London, even with lockdown.

There's nothing quite like an EUC for capability - coming from a uni, the eskate wheels will feel tiny to you - but still absolutely worth a try. Both so fun and so different!

Came the 21st and they said id have to wait until july 15. Got sick of how unsure they were about where their product was, so i just ordered a trx 2.0. If ur from the US though you should get it right away. I think i just got unlucky with mine

Backfire definately a good choice for someone's first eboard or as a commuter board. Good service for the price point. Sidenote, *Zealot is Backfire's 2nd belt drive board, G1 was their first before they switched to hub drive G2 onwards.* A handful of the earliest esk8 brands known for hub drive actually started with belt drive.

Do it!!! I'm 23 and I haven't really skated before. Unless you want to count the "rip-stick" or "waveboard" (I was also 12 lol). After only a month of having my board I honestly think I'll be E-skating until I'm physically unable to. I'm trying to get some of my friends to buy a board, but there are also E-Skate groups in almost every city that anyone could join and ride. If you have any questions feel free to ask me! It's such a fun hobby and an awesome source of transportation around campus or a city. Seriously, if you can afford one, get it, even if its not this board there are even cheaper alternatives. Although, in my opinion, this board is a good price for its value. Once again ask me any questions about E-skating if you have any! Edit: I got the Zealot S, I believe this is a review of the Zealot with the composite deck, there aren't many differences.

Can you put tyres on the wheels too?

New to e-skating (used to have one wheel) and Backfire is my top runner up for commuting to work (live a mile away) could someone tell me if battery is replaceable once it outlives itself?

When upgrading to cloud wheels did u have to buy new pulleys? Or did u use the spare pulleys that came with the board.

The cloud wheels comes with the pulleys..

Backfire mini is an incredible board on 96mm wheels… so much fun…over 600miles already and my lockdown savour The xt60 cable is used to bypass the battery and connect the charge port to the esc to diagnose a dead battery management system/BMS or cells. A nice addition and customer service is 10/10. I to wish they had service centres or warehouses closer! Awesome content as usual

Hi, great video, thank you! It really helped motivate/inspire me to get an Eboard! I’m too big (6.7ft 246lbs) for the backfire zealot/zealot s, so yesterday I ordered the Lycaon Swift as my first eboard. It’s a stiff deck and can hold up to 330lbs,... and it has slightly more power and range than the zealot. I will definitely be getting some cloudwheels for it soon as well. Where do you normally find is best to ride to avoid upsetting the police,...is it better to ride on the road to the left of traffic, or only on pavements and cycle tracks? Also have you got any pad recommendations will downhill pads be adequate? Thanks again. All the best to you!

@@midknighttechreviews I’ve had an utter nightmare with it! Hopefully I’m just unlucky,…but it took from 31st April to June 1st to arrive and the motors and motor mounts came so damaged (from using over powered tools) I couldn’t even adjust the belt tension. Motors were bad and sounded terrible 3 wheels where running built in bearings and one with older bearings, spacer and speed ring. Badly formed tyres/wheels. Unbranded hobby wing remote (not a deal breaker just something I noticed), Small Crack in ESC case and another small crack in the deck itself. They have offered me parts only and it took them nearly ten weeks to even dispatch the replacement parts offering one excuse after another about lack of stock (while still sending me adds about their summer sale for the swift) etc just promising next week, next week, then 23days for the parts to finally arrive today! Then today I discovered they only sent me 2 wheels, motors and mounts. I had to buy new bearings today (from U.K. skate shop) as I still don’t have a complete set for all four wheels to run the same bearings. No attempt to solve the cracked ESC case or deck or bearings issues. They have ignored many many unhappy emails asking for a refund or replacement instead and I’ve also even accused them of purposely leaving it so long I can’t claim a refund through PayPal but they ignored that email both times I’ve sent it as well. Long story short,… 3 months later and I still don’t have a safe properly functioning board! I’ve only ridden it twice as it is so unsafe speed wobbles at 14mph and stalling motors. Summers nearly over now! 😞

Edit: they’ve now solved nearly all the issues I’ve had (over £220 worth of parts) and I’m much happier, they have even offered to refund me for the bearings I brought out of my own pocket (I declined the offer as the bearings weren’t that expensive and I would of had to buy some eventually anyway). And they said if I seal/repair the small crack in the deck with resin they’ll reimburse me for that as well. Unfortunately the weather hasn’t been very good for the last week, so I haven’t properly tested it yet, but I will reply again after I’ve ridden it for a couple of weeks. All the very best!

6ft7!? goodlord do you have to check in with airport traffic control to see what the weather is up there before going to work? On a serious note it is nice to see/hear bigger guys commenting on eboards (im only 6ft 240lbs) and looking up info on all these boards being zipped around by these small 150lb dudes keeps making me question availability for bigger dudes. That lycaon's look interesting but goodlord does your experience sound horrible, I wouldnt be able to handle that headach personally.

Hey so quick question, I'm looking into getting my first E-Board and was looking into the Backfire boards, so first off thank you for an amazing review. Secondly, I am currently stationed in the UK so I'm really wanting to know how legal these are on the streets. I've only read a lot of vague posts online, most of them 2 years old, and none of them gave a lot of clarity and only talked about E-Scooters. Since you said you rode this board around in London during the video, I feel like you would know the laws pretty well, so if you could tell me any experiences you may have had with police while riding E-Boards in the UK, if you have had any such experiences, and if you knew what exactly the laws are for them.

Also another big concern was how well the board handled UK roads (which as you stated aren't exactly in the best state) so thank you for including that in your video. If I do end up getting this board I'll definitely look into the recommended wheels as well.

@@lucasflater7320 If you really 𝘤𝘢𝘯'𝘵 wait, that sucks lol. I would highly recommend waiting and getting this board. I got it about a month ago and I'm very satisfied, I love everything about it, especially the purple lights lol. If you have any questions about the board feel free to ask me, I already put 150 miles on mine! Also it says online that the Zealot S will ship from the U.S. starting May 1st although and it was an earlier date in April just weeks ago, I would still wait for this board, its just such a nice board for the price. I will buy another backfire eventually, probably one of the all terrain ones, but that won't be for awhile because I'm having a lot of fun with the Zealot S right now.

Currently Im waiting for Black Carve 2 belt drive... but Im definitely looking to get Zealot S as my 2nd board. @@lucasflater7320 No problem brotha! Just looked up the Black Carve 2 and damn that board seems really nice, 32 miles with cloud wheels is insane!! I love all these brands giving us more options lol. I ordered the Zealot S on March 13 and I got it March 19. I purchased it off their US store based in the Los Angeles area and it got to me in NYC in 6 days! And yea lol the purple lights really glow bright in during evening and night rides, def a neck breaker lol. I'm probably gunna add more lights to it eventually. Happy for ya lol its gunna be a lot of fun!

Love my board put on about 300 miles in 3 months. I would recommend the cloud wheels that he has in his vid and buy some extra screws for the bearing motor (they tend to come lose) Also don't ride in the rain or on wet surfaces. Other than that 9.5/10 experience

How many miles do these belts get before they break?

Great to c a uk review. Did you need to pay any taxes to get it into the uk? Also how is it in wet / light rain ? I am hoping to take it to work most days of the year

Not great in wet scenarios, I've heard the cloud wheels can take it but with stock wheels I don't recommend (crashed once while braking on a wet sidewalk)

Can anyone tell me exactly how loud the board is? E.g. the same volume as a casual conversation, the same volume as a car from the drivers seat, the same volume as a mechanical keyboard, etc

What do you do about lights for those winter commutes and night time travel?

I cover my helmet and board in Shredlights but that's mainly so other road users can see me - I wouldn't count on them to light up the path in front of me. As a rule of thumb I don't ride down dark roads where you can't see the road surface properly. Nice thing about London is it's well lit even at night!

have you ever ridden it on snow? I live in Chicago and was wondering if it'll hold up with snow/wetness/salt on gravel.

Bought a zealot s. Made a really annoying rattling sound that a couldn't sort out. Ended up sending the motors back to them

The UK really needs to legalise these things. Would definitely get one if that was the case.

Very entertaining comprehensive review. The turbo mode is however not time limited on this board.Waiting two plus months is way too long. Better part of summer will be gone. Some companies have opened warehouses around the world but Backfire has not done well there. Also, I would pay more for air shipping. Cheers

Don't listen to him, it's an old video. They have 6 warehouses now. My board shipped to Canada in 10 days in March 2021.

@@rdyjur Yes, but Backfire has no boards in Europe or USA and claim 40-45 business days which equals two months. Summer will be almost over by then.

Sadly same as e scooters , you can ride but with caution and it takes a bit of the enjoyment. Great review as always 👌✌️🏎

I weigh 220 and get 20 plus miles on sport mode . Warm weather though !

Increased power and torque by 16% due to bigger battery / 875w motors, forged trucks, purple lights, same composite deck.

I'm purchasing the G2 Black from backfire in mid-augest. Super happy, I'll be purchasing the cloud wheels too! Anyways, do you reckon the shipping will be long or not?

Wdym, if it dies on the journey it gradually limits the speed and then once it is actually going to die it will start to stop.

@@hectoralejo4553 Nah you can use it just turn off the board from the power button and you're good to go, if you have a Zealot S you can turn the board on/off from the controller but only on the S Variant, otherwise you have to flip it over and turn it off there! :)

@@AnimalUnleashedHD We just got the Zealot yesterday (California) after ordering it on 4/9. It's to replace our Exway Flex which has been out of services since 4/5 with a BMS error issue. 60+ days with Exway support and all I have done was flash the board FW once they released it last month only to have the same issue. Now I am waiting for them to send out a battery to troubleshoot. We're not having very good luck with Exway support.

Only the very minor stuff mentioned in the vid - and the shipping time. I'd love for the battery pack to be swappable but that's a pretty rare feature annoyingly!

Backfire zealot s-800$, Verreal Rs 16ah battery, 120mm cloudwheels-900$ or 820$ with 97mm glow wheels. sorry but i couldn t gree with you. Rs with 20ah battery(50km of range for 100kg rider) is at this point and that price stunning product. when i ordered exway flex riot it was here after 9 days. if i ordered zealot i would waited 45 business days and that is just... terrible..

IDK Ive seen an overwhelming problem with the zealots battery. Search for it you will find many people with this issue with this model. So im thinking these pos reviews may be biased for some reason IDK if the boards are supplied by BF for the specific purposed of being reviewed. Plus to my surprise after watching reviews before my purchase , but through personal experience after use I have found backfires quality overstated and their customer service also very poor & unreliable. I have 2 backfire boards & I will not get another one from them nor would I recommend since wasting ~1k is a big regrettable mistake. Do research before you buy and consider a DIY since you will get so much more and not spend 1k and regret it.

I’ll agree the shipping times are not ideal but they stand behind their product and it’s a good product. $800 for the Zealot S is not a bad deal for what you get. For example look at how inferior a boosted is and what they’re selling for. Also DIY is not for everyone.

I have to disagree the wowgo 3 and 3x are as good or better! Paris truck same big wheels as this one top speed about 38 kph. Also in the UK its better to have a quiet board so police don't hear it, the cheaper hub board for £320 from wowgo 3 is perfect

I have no issue with these if used on private land but as the video shows they were not being used on private land but on public thoroughfares and I do have an issue with them being used in pedestrian areas and on the road where they are a menace or I should say the people that use them are a menace. Rant over.

So in your eyes anyone on an P.E.V is a menace or a criminal? That must be a very scary and anxious head space to live in! Good news is,...I’m always seeing police ignoring people on P.E.Vs (even scooters) if they are being safe and respectful of traffic and pedestrians. So they clearly don’t agree with you! At the moment it’s only scooters that are illegal (unless rented) other P.E.Vs (apart from Ebikes obviously) simply have no legislation yet. Just like Ebikes where once a grey area of the law. Sometimes it takes a while for legislation to catch up, but this doesn’t mean that laws aren’t going to change to adapt to new situations as they occur. In this video he was clearly riding in carefully in appropriate areas, (probably lockdown) no cars, very few pedestrians and he’s not travelling at high speeds or dangerously! If you see someone on a normal skateboard in public are they a menace too? If it’s speed that makes them a menace,...Usain Bolt can run between 23 to 27.8mph in just a pair of trainers. Normal pushbikes can achieve and maintain even faster speeds than that if someone has enough Lycra on! In comparison most P.E.Vs like Ebikes, scooters and skateboards etc, are limited to around 15-20mph tops,...and the people using them are usually covered in safety gear. All electric skateboards have several speed modes that top out well under running/sprinting speed. Most riders actually cruise at much lower than running/sprinting speeds. 10-15mph on a skateboard feels plenty fast enough for most riders and there are many models that can’t even go much faster than 20mph or they need to be in a special “pro” or “turbo” mode to do so. Electric Skateboards in general travel at much lower speeds than other P.E.Vs do, due to their small wheels and very low ground clearance. Sure their maybe a couple of bad eggs out there, but you can’t judge everyone by the same standards. I’m glad your not a police officer. Way to take a really nice positive video and see only negatives and be completely prejudiced about it! Rant over!
