In another interview she says almost the same thing when asked about Cinderella, she meant "like lyrics finds music". It happens sometimes to make little mistakes when speaking in public.

I only discovered Alma just last night. Stayed up half the night watching many of her videos. I am at a loss for any other words except astonishing! One of her stated goals is to change the world. For those of us fortunate enough to have witnessed her talents (and there are many), she's achieved her goal. And as one other poster on a different video clip stated, "I'm beginning to believe in the human race again." Me too!

The audience is too lazy to get up and give her the standing ovation she deserves for that performance.

She must come from money or perhaps conservatively raised parents. She has a way about her, very composed, controlled, and civilized. Very disciplined in many ways. Rare these days. She is lovely, and yes, she's already a calm speaker with some eloquence.

It seems as though this little girl’s whole world has been music, from the womb onward. We would see a lot more young composers if they were all raised this way. Music 🎼 AM to PM. She is quite impressive, but I think her parents have a lot todo with it. The way Alma lifts her hands from the piano when she has finished playing and the expressions on her face and movements of her body while she plays ; these are all learned from watching other musicians. She is off to a brilliant start.

@@SolidSiren Alma's parents are both University professors her father's a professor of linguistics and has a degree in mathematics her mother is a professor of early English literature. She has a younger sister 3 years younger who was also extremely good on violin. Her music teachers are university professors of music in Switzerland and Chicago. Use Skype and linkef pianos.

From what I can see AND hear, the majority of the audience appear to have NO idea that they are literally in the presence of a genius; a remarkably composed, exceptionally well spoken young lady who would have Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, et al sitting in rapt silence as Alma describes the development of her latest opera or piano concerto..........what a gift to the world, she is absolutely brilliant!

As an empath, Alma moves me to tears - she’s absolutely brilliant! However, folks here need to stop expecting everyone in the audience to be spellbound by her. We are all cut from a different cloth - so please stop expecting others to think, feel, behave, respond, and react as you do. What resonates with you may not resonate with someone else. For example, someone may be crazy about golf, while someone else may find it boring. Someone may love heavy metal music, while someone else prefers rap. Someone may love ballet, while someone else prefers belly dancing, etc.

Stand up you pompous fools! Nothing less than a standing ovation for this incredible composer!

Born in the right place, right time and right parents. So much of the brilliance of children gets lost because of poor parenting. Generation after generation of mediocrity breeding mediocrity because to stand out like this girl does invites being put down by the sufferers of "Tall poppy syndrome." Yes, children have to hide their talents rather than rejoice in them. Showing off is forbidden. Alma is showing us the potential of humans to excel.

this is what it must have been like 200 + years ago when young Mozart was traveling with his dad astounding folks ... Alma and other modern day prodigies, like Mozart, are simply astounding for lack of a better word ... I guess there will always be a certain percentage of people born with these exceptional abilities ... the world is certainly a better place because of it

I heard Almas mother play the piano, very well. But Alma think she is a amateur. So maybe she think this of this lady also. But kind hearted Alma plays also with amateurs to make them happy.

Alma is utterly enchanting, very articulate, and amazingly sophisticated for her age.Her parents must be so proud of her. I mean, you rarely see children presenting themselves the way Alma does, with such style and panache.

Alma is so amazing!! Her articulation, her creativity, her sense of herself is so heavenly and beyond her years. Sometimes, very rarely, God sends us a miracle, an angel to show us what he can do. Amazing, sublimely beautiful.

I am truly flabbergasted by the strength of her compositions and her abilities as a player. I think one day when people think of classical music composers they will think of Alma Deutscher among them.

Oh my, I am in tears. This is incredible. Somehow, I am reminded of the "Intermezzo with Arik" programme which was broadcast early last year. This shows how far Alma has come since then. Alma Deutscher is fantastically talented, and I would absolutely love to see her perform live.

She wakes up and sneaks out of bed to write down a Melody that she heard in a dream. An extensive Melody that took her three hours to write down. Wow absolutely wow. LOL then her parents wonder why she doesn't want to wake up in the morning. What a lovely human.

Beautiful little girl whose parents are letting her grow and learn at her own pace and assisting her in capitalizing on her talent. A American friend, who taught in the UK and the US.. could not believe how much more articulate British children are, and found the difference staggering. A larger linguistic repertoire and vocabulary, never a a loss. She saw them communicating easily with adults with conversation seldom out of their depth.

I am an empath and cried throughout this video each time I listened to Alma play her instruments. However - what you need to realize is that not every melody/tune/song is music to someone’s ears. We’re all wired differently, and what moves you may not necessarily move someone else. So it’s not about being jealous or spiteful - it’s about what resonates with you.

Stephen Hawking casually strolls in... That makes 2 genius' in one room! Much respect for both Hawking and Alma. I have read a lot of his writings, and listened to many of Alma's compositions. Both are true legends. I'm proud to live in an age where minds such as these have the freedom and fortunate luxury to be able to express their genius to the rest of the world. As Alma said, she is lucky not to live in olden times. Likewise can be said of Hawking. They are both so very lucky, and so very talented. They give me hope for humanity!

This young lady thoroughly substantiates my belief that often when we are born our souls are not new. If you watch closely as she is playing an emotion will manifest itself on her face that no ten year old could possibly have comprehension of. We are truly blessed to witness such a glimpse of the soul that she has been gifted with. Mathematics is the purest of languages and once every great while a person comes along and gives a voice to that language. A voice so beautiful that it touches the very essence of who we are as humans. I'm so thankful that I'm here to witness this.

Another young exuberant and confident young girl. And she is very articulate and smart too. I love her accent.

I love the way Alma uses the classical structures of the great composers and yet still finds her own voice with her delightful melodies and ideas. The piano variations are astonishingly good for an eight year old. The great composers and performers of the past are gathering in paradise to listen to Alma.

This was the most beautiful video I've ever watched in my lifetime, you've brought so much joy into my day and life and you are changing the world for the better. The last bit of you both playing Bach made me want to cry. And Alma your gift is magical and there are no words for how much I love your work. None at all.

AD put an opera company in her Cinderella opera. This is absolute genius. The story immediately gets an incredible depth: it's not about physical beauty only, but about the beauty of the mind! It's a reflexion of and upon music, creation, honesty, hate and love. And power! Very impressive for an adult. but Totally mind-blowing for a 11 years old. 3. next decade??? the sky is the limit!

She is amazing, not just musically but also in the size of her vocabulary and the smoothness in the way she articulates. She almost speaks like she has been plucked from another age. It’s so refreshing to listen to her and to rise above the cultural decay being witnessed in the world today. I see that this was recorded a few years ago so I’m going to check out some of the more recent videos to see how she is developing.

She is truly a fabulous musician but also underrated.

She doesn't play the music. She IS the music and we are seeing it come to life at her fingertips and hearing it on her violin and piano.

Erm, when I was 10 I could roller skate and had a collection of stickers. I'm floored by the brilliance of this little being.

Lots of people think that the difficult bit of composing is to get the idea but actually that just comes to me the difficult bit is then to sit down with that idea to develop it, to combine it with other ideas in a coherent way. its just very easy to throw a soup of lots of ideas which don't make any sense together but to sit down and develop and combine it and afterwards to tweak it and to polish it. that takes ages sometimes even years...WELL yes that comes from a 10 year old shes one of the most genius kids ive ever come to see in this era.

Her ability to articulate the process is impressive but the process itself it the same for most art forms. Many children go through a similar process when drawing or attempting to create a rocket out of a plastic bottle for example. Only adults to not provide them with the right materials, encouragement, or space to work on creating the best final product they are capable of. Many parents, teachers etc talk of children reaching their potential but often lack the knowledge or intelligence to recognise the child's true potential, never mind how to help the child achieve it. Of course the difference with Alma Deutscher that she clearly has fantastic parents & fabulous teachers, along with the determination, time & talent to concentrate on what she wishes to create & is resolute to create an impressive result. The passion along with her talent, Alma Deutscher is bound to do well in life.

The audience are waiting for something.. perhaps a dose of cocaine? They are like beached whales or vegetables left out in the sun too long. "Oh Hi Elvis... I thought you'd be taller... guurrrr gurrrr gurrr". Well, the best thing they have going for them is that they filled the seats. Their complete lack of hearing and emotion is just an adaptation to whatever they call a life.

Loads of people call talented young children ‘geniuses’ when they do something spectacular. But actually, they are just kids who work extremely hard. This girl caught my eye, because she does not only work really hard to achieve amazing things, SHE IS A GENIUS. There’s no denying that. 😉 Well done Alma!!

Just imagine, we are witnessing history in the making!! Mark this day in your diary as a red-letter day. Alma is truly a modern wonder with an ancient soul and one day will surely be as appreciated as any of the old masters!! I love you and your music, Alma!!

Old soul indeed. Even in language, words chosen far beyond her years. Incarnation comes to mind. who are we really watching in this child's body? Who was made to cook and knit instead of using their gift in the past? Crazy amazing. When a child of 10 can say something took "years." Well I just smile. Listening to her describe her day, when does she go to school? She is clearly highly educated as well.

Daniel, the only history are the idiot replies of a girl who's pretty, and talks polite, she's no Mozart, she talks far better than she can play anything. Youth goes by fast, soon you won't even know who she is. But you sure know the name J.S. Bach, 200 years later, don't you now! 100 years from now, Alma will be some kind of soap you put on your face to clear achne.

Very little brings me to tears of joy. Alma brings me tears of absolute joy.

It never ceases to amaze me how when the camera pans across the audience, there are a few disinterested souls contained therein. How in the presence of such a gift from God could anyone possibly be disinterested? Alma is brilliant in every way. From the manner she expresses herself through both speech and music, this is one incredible child. How fortunate we are to all be living in a time to see something so rare as her on you tube.

genius comes to youtube. beyond belief. Funny at the end how she can just play her part of the Bach by memory and the adult needs the music.

I was more of a rock and roll, heavy metal, classics, 50's kind of guy when KZread kind of popped this little wonder in my face and now I just cannot get enough of her wonderful personality and this "classical" music. I was always able to listen to about anything but having this very special person bring it to me is wonderful. I actually get a little teary eyed when I hear her play. It amazes me for a girl so young and incredibly happy to be able to put some sadness into her music. I am actually getting ready to watch the opera that she created and performed in San Hose Cal. Its on Medici.tv

"Genius" is less than she deserves!! She is almost the reincarnation of music itself!!

A genius and a wonderful young composer, one of the kind in our Century. I am so touched by her highest self-understanding of her mission as a composer. I am so grateful to listen to her as a human being and as a music composer.

I was held in absolute awe! Thank you for posting this, and for Ellen Degenerous for sharing Alma with us. I might never have captured!

Alma is a great composer and great musician ; a great moment for Zeitgeist. such an honor for this woman to play Bach with alma!!! (23) I think: she was aware that this moment (to play with Alma) was exceptional for her. this moment was great for me too.

Wow just WOW!! This is the first time I've heard of her. She is such a beautiful child, three words BRILLIANT BRILLIANT BRILLIANT!! And the host, she did really well too hosting & I was so happy for her playing with Alma. They both did such a great job. I look forward to more of Alma's music, so exciting! I feel like this is so enchanting & magical as I'm watching this because Alma is unrealistically so talented in her words & in her music.

This is just beyond comprehension ,at such a young child,simply brilliant ,amazing. May you achieve what you aspire to achieve and continue to develop and share it to the world. We ,the world will watch and consume your brilliant and inspiring work in you tube and in the world stage.Praise and gratitude to your loving wonderful parents and to all the people out there assisting you to develop your fullest potential.

Her take on the Cinderella story is quite intriguing, through the anonymity between the prince and Cinderella, they are able to create an opera without either of them knowing of eachother's contributions, meaning they are truly the perfect partners for eachother. True love, not of the bodies, but of the minds. This is a story many will learn from, and use to look at the world through a less primitive scope than promiscuity. The shear wisdom of this girl will only increase. Even today, she's only using 1% of her true power.

Truly - Alma is an amazing talent. Usually, when I see 'prodigy', 'genius', I'll briefly look at them - & ho -hum - they can play ONE piece really well and don't have much beyond that. BUT this young lady is the real deal. She has a breadth of knowledge, an inner appreciation of the music, plays two instruments exceptionally well, composes and then writes her own music, and a wonderful command of language (X2). She's humorous, lucid, quirky/eccentric and absolutely charming. Loved the Bach - Double Violin Concerto - and who didn't need the music? Incidentally - who was the lady interviewer?

Angelic, that was a marvelous comment and very beautiful! God has been removed from everything, including the arts. I am a pastor and have been a musician since I was five. Johnna Langen I think everyone puts work into developing their talents. Everyone has God given gifts but some people neglect them and don’t reach this level

This is how Mozart was when he was young I think her brain has so much info that it’s hard for her to focus on something singular but she articulates well a true child prodigy she has a very bright future

This is the most inspiring video that I have seen in a very long time. Through a child there's no filter - God speaks directly through her & purity of spirit is expressed directly so that we hear the voice of Heaven.
