Ok, so here are the rules. I must write everything within 2 hours on the computer and then record everything exact to the tab later.
I ended up just doing the drums later and performing them. Ran out of time. So those weren't done without listening.

It would be cool to see what kind of song you could write in six months, or better a year. Just to see how you've improved! You're already a fantastic player and, I won't pretend to know what makes a good composer, but you seem like a good composer. Hell of a lot better than I am. The fact you wrote something difficult, knowing full well it would be a challenge, leads me to believe you'll only get better and better.

+LordDes the timer, you'll note he also didn't give himself the 20m of time back even though he had lost all that time to a crash, he was limited to his 2h, and taking the time to try and watch a video to re-create exactly what he had would have eaten through his time remaining.

I spent a year and a half in prison a few years back. There was a music room, but you had to play what they allowed. I wrote a 2 hour long piece of music/concept album just on paper. When I finally got home, I made demos of each part. I initially did it note for note, and was quite close to where I wanted it. Although it was the result of unfortunate circumstances, it was a great exercise for me as a writer and musician. I think it helps allow for the sound in my head to come out regardless of any limitations put upon me by lack of specific technique. It also forced me to better my technique to play the parts. Kudos on the kickass vid Rob.

I've been learning counterpoint and satb part writing in my theory class and this exercise is very similar to what we're doing in class. We've spent the whole semester learning the rules for part writing and now we're learning how to input our parts into finale and it's really cool to actually hear what you can come up with just following the rules of thumb.
