Thank you for all the tips and examples. I like the idea of entering my subject after I have created my email to make sure it is specific enough. I’m struggling between the part of the greeting and getting to my purpose, regarding openers such as “I hope you had a nice weekend, etc.” What is the rule there? Thank you in advance, especially for the effort you put in creating the full lesson on the webpage in detail. Wow!

Good question, Sinem. It is quite common to use a polite opener as you have provided, especially when it's someone you know. If it's someone you don't know, it's okay to immediately state why you're writing. For example, "Hello, _____. I am writing you to ask..." Throughout the email, maintaining a polite tone will still make the email professional and kind.
