Pretty much all of them wouldn't be on that list if not for Hogan messing with something somewhere. To this day WWE stars are in shows, movies & all over the market because of Austin & the Rock. They got to where Hogan was & took the business to another level entirely in terms of other markets. When Austin & Rock were flip flopping baby face & heel in late '98 through the early '00 the ratings were in constant 5.0 - 6.0's, can't argue with them being the two most over babyfaces, maybe Hogan's run in the 80's - '93, but they brought the whole industry to new markets & heights in like 4 years than Hogan's 8 year run as top babyface.

Honestly they easily could have made it work, half of us didn’t have anything but Jakked or Metal and WCW Saturday Night for our TV Now imagine pairing The Gangstas vs The Freebirds (who might have been more over in Tennessee since people LOVED Bam Bam), could also consider The Heavenly Bodies facing the Freebirds to break up Rock and Roll along with The Heavenly Bodies. The Rock was never a traditional babyface though. I wouldn’t even put him on the list, cuz much of his best work was as a heel. Ricky Steamboat and Sting were the first two that came to my mind. They were never as “over” as the Rock, cuz the Rock has a level of charisma that is essentially unparalleled, but they were definitive babyfaces as opposed to Rocky who flip flopped

Based on my knowledge I think it would be Dusty, Savage, Rock, Hogan, Austin. The reason I put Austin top is that wrestling was in the gutter in the mid 90’s it was exposed and dripped in scandal. I think it was harder to bring eyes back to the WWF then than it was in the 80’s for Hogan. Also Austin was not only competing with other faces like The Rock, DX, Mankind etc but he was also competing with all of the NWO, Sting, Goldberg and DDP in WCW and he outdrew all of them. We’ll never see his like again.

@@msw8966 true, but without Bruno, Gorilla Monsoon, Buddy Rodgers. Billy Graham etc we wouldn’t know Hulk Hogan. My point is wrestling in the 80’s was novel and new to a large portion of people. Austin took something that was uncool in the early to mid 90’s and brought it back to the mainstream. Anything can be a fad, but to take something that had its day in the sun and bring it back (with help from the NWO) is something special. Austin did that, he’s what people think of when they think of wrestling from that era. It’s a toss up, they’re both super close to one another

Before the rock and stone cold blew up fans were leaving in their millions, hulk and Vince had captured an entire generation, at a time when that generation were having kids so we all grew up watching hulk and wrestling. Vince out the greatest stars together and it created the greatest show on earth. It truly was a global phenomenon, he transcended wrestling and was super mainstream. We couldn’t buy enough, sleeping bags, toys, bandanas, lunch boxes, ice creams, you name it we bought it, we went to shows just in the hope of seeing hulk and he wouldn’t even be on the card 😂 Anyone who says he couldn’t work doesn’t know what work is, work is how you get the crowd in the palm of your hand, if you want technical stuff go watch his Japan matches, he tailored his style to his audience and there is no better. That’s why duggan will always be highly thought of and loved by fans. He didn’t need to win and have a big title run, he was a guy who had the entire arena shouting at the top of their lungs. Bret and HBK would put you to sleep, “going to work the arms for 20 minutes with arm bats and arm drags to set up my sharp shooter leg lock finisher”….😂. I’ve seen the promo outtakes and the finished article wasn’t much better in all honesty. HBK could talk but just wasn’t anything like a heavyweight, who could put up poster on their wall of him?… your friends would’ve called you gay and beat you up in the 80’s and 90s 😂 intercontinental should’ve been their limit, they gave that belt a credibility, that was the wrestlers belt, perfect, tornado and even warrior made that belts value so much more than it has today if it even exists.

Many people obviously don't get where Bill Eadie is coming from. He says it in the video: For HIM a babyface is somebody the crowd needs to get behind to beat the cheating or monster heel. That's why he names Tommy Rich that much, because the crowd used to cheer for him and Tommy would react to that. If they cheered him, he would actually win. Many of the names on this list were more capable of that on their own, especially Austin never actually did that power-up because of the crowd. It was a different time.
