Wreckfest Race 24

Yesterday’s double ‘top-down’ video was supposed to be a one-off, but I’m posting this one for a reason. It’s effectively a fail video.
After 20 laps of Swaffham I decided to do the same at Ringwood, again versus 23 AI. This time the game put me in pole but I wasn’t too bothered as I imagined there would be enough carnage to add some challenge (it’s a narrower track than Swaffham). Within a lap or two it was apparent that framerate was suffering, and suffering badly. On playback you’ll see quite a few instances of my red Silver Bullet taking unexpected lines, and that’s because half the time I didn’t know where the car really was on track.
I wanted to record the replay video to see if it was just as bad. The first run-through seems reasonable but the second, from the opposite end, is awful, albeit worse than during actual gameplay, and the video comes in about 30 seconds longer than the take from the first run-through.
After the recording I quit the game and checked for other processes, but there was nothing. Given that the Swaffham race had the same number of AI over the same 20 laps (and there was actually a lot more damage and resulting artefacts) I’ve got to assume it’s just something about the Ringwood mod if you go for long races and max AI.
For the record, I use Fraps. Now I know it has big problems, most notably its ridiculous filesizes. I did actually download GeForce Experience - to match my graphics card - but Wreckfest isn’t on its list of supported games as yet.
So I might as well put the question out there. In terms of simple-to-use but highly effective capture software, what’s best? I don’t mind paying for something that works well. And I might as well ask if any Wreckfest players out there have tried long Ringwood races vs full fields of AI and had similar framerate issues.
