The retrovirus was cool in theory but in execution was terrible. Not to mention it was something that had to administered again and again and I guess they just forgot the patient might get curious as to what drugs they are taking and just not take them. Not to mention how were they going to sustain a colony of these transformed individuals with the the limited resources they had.

Would have been an idea to see a black branch come in woth a "solution" to kyll them all once they relocate somewhere quiet. Or. Just have the converted wealth stwd into a Gate to space or something. Basically. Kill them is the only way to be sure.

I agree retrovirus was a bad idea for the show, or maybe the writer's we're trying to give us an insight to our own future where we trust in the research of scientist way too easily manipulating DNA

Connor Trinneer is great, but I never enjoyed Michaels Plot. Writing the retrovirus into the villains backstory was cool, I just think the way they did it for Michael was really contrived. He got so powerful and menacing so quick, none of it felt earned.

Yeah, I think this one of the reasons I really dislike him... he was just a random wraith, then all of a sudden he's a bigger threat with a bigger army than queens...

i know it wasn't in the show, but i believe a canon novel about Atlantis reveals the wraith were created by the ancients while studying ascension, hoping to extend their lifespans while they looked for the answer.

The novels are not canon, but that's a really interesting idea. A bit too close to the Replicators' origins for my liking, though. Not everything has to come from the Amcients' hubris. I like the fact that the Wraith evolved very gradually, potentially over millions of years, because the Ancients were just seeding human life willy-nilly all over the place.

I loved that book but I don't count it in the lore just for the fact that it basically comes down to "The ancients did it" like that's the answer for all things old and mysterious.

@@GateWorldDotNet The Wraith could've also been created by the Vanir while they were sneaking around doing human experimentation in the Pegasus galaxy. Just adding as another Wraith Origin story that parallels the Replicator menace like the Asgard.

If they had Michael research they could perfected it

I know though I have to wonder did Michael manage it without introducing DNA from other species cause that could be the sticking point for Todd and his hive/allies.

The thing is I know this could have been successful if there was further research as of to what happened and what exactly caused this fatality. But alas, there were vengeful Asgardians who decided to take matters int their own hands.

@@wryethhunt464 I'm not sure. But I don't really mind tbh. I enjoyed reading them and hope for more, because the last book didn't feel like it was the end of the series.They didn't answer all of the questions, except for the big plot, so hopefully some day they'll find new writers to continue

@@polishedpebble4111 Hunt/Catch/Kill reflex(not essential to the feeding process) and there is no canon supporting something similar in the Wraith. They are simply stuck in a huntet/gatherer state due to the lack of a viable alternative food source. On two separate occasions, Wraith say as much when offered regular food.

That would make the wraith extremely powerful a lack of in fighting. Would cause them to advance violently they would surpass the ancients pretty quick.

@@RNA0ROGER If would if all the Wraith had access to the technology. The more likely scenario would be one faction possessing the technology then systematically undermining the others prior to full scale war. It would serve as a stop gap measure for the Tau'Ri and their various allies to proliferate more permanent solutions to the Wraith threat. After all, the Tau'Ri were instrumental in the liberation of the Jaffa and the followers of the Ori not to mention their possession of the city of Atlantis and the wealth of knowledge/technology bequeathed to them by the Asgard.

@@UncleMikeDrop Well that makes sense given the cannon. The majority of them would feed, while the ones with the food supply would breed like wild fire. In the long term this would make the wraith overwhelmingly powerful.

How about a video on Michael and his hybrid followers themselves?

Soul sucking space vampires! Who could ask for more? I'm with Michael when he When he found out that he was really a wraith, he told Shepard being a wraith wasn't a disease that you could cure. It was who they were.

I can't help but wonder how the Wraith would have adapted to needing food. Would they have stolen it from others? Enslave people to do the work like the System Lords? Settle down and become a farming society? Maybe just straight up eat people?

Their biotechnology is quite developed, they could probably build environments in their hive ship for food cultivation, I imagine at that point they just find their own galaxy.

I thought this was a TERRIBLE arc. While Connor Trineer is very cool, I think the series would have been better if it had focused on other plot arcs.

Because of their modifications Jaffa can't be taken as a host to a Goa'uld. It is mentioned in the episode with the all Russian SG team. Tealc could not be taken host.
