WPWR Channel 50 - Video Power - "Ski Patrol" (Complete Broadcast, 4/19/1991) 📺 🕹️ 🎮

Ойын-сауық

Here's the complete broadcast of an episode of a long-since-forgotten videogame/cartoon syndicated series, Video Power, entitled "Ski Patrol" with The Power Team, as broadcast over WPWR Channel 50 ("The Power Station" as it was coincidentally dubbed). The host is Stivi Paskoski as "Johnny Arcade."
Includes:
Partial Station ID / promo for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (voiceover by ??)
Show opening titles, followed by Johnny entering with "hints" as to video game "Low G Man (Low Gravity Man)" and excerpts from that game
Commercials for:
The Simpsons video game by Acclaim Home Entertainment
Double Dragon III by Acclaim
Promo for "Alice in Wonderland" (NOT the 1951 Disney cartoon, but a 1985 live-action two-part miniseries with Natalie Gregory in the title role - and an all-star cast including Sammy Davis, Jr. as the Caterpillar) (ending voiceover by ??)
Squeezit fruit drink
Lotta Koala Yummies cookies
Thin Ice by Pressman (music to the (approximate) tune of "Wipe Out")
The Power Team opening titles, with Segment 1 of "Ski Patrol"
Commercials for:
Ghost Writer by Ohio Art (from the same people that brought you Etch-A-Sketch)
Promo for "The Littlest Outlaw" and "Ride a Wild Pony" (voiceover by ??)
Cocoa Puffs (Sonny goes berserk over the box running out)
The Real Scoop with Captain Lou Albano (educational interstitial about rain - after a message from...)
Nerf Football - with Joey Unitas (son of Johnny Unitas)
Heads Up! 9.6V Turbo Hopper - from Tyco
Kid Cuisine Chicken Nuggets - with B.J. and the Chef
"Ski Patrol" Segment 2
Commercials for:
The Simpsons video game (repeat)
Double Dragon III (repeat)
Promo for My Secret Identity, followed by Star Trek (voiceover by ??)
Sunny Petra - from Lundby of Sweden (NOT Barbie! Legally we must say this!)
Cinnamon Toast Crunch (with Wendell the chef)
WPWR PSA for Camp Fire ("The Power to Make a Difference") - "Today's Campfire for Today's Kids"
Johnny speaks about skateboarding, and gives tips on Low G Man, where to send for tips, and then it's "Game Over"
Ending credits (with promo voiceover for Growing Pains, Gimme a Break!, and The Flintstones by ??) - From "Bohbot Productions, Inc." and "Saban Entertainment".
Station ID / promo for Adventures of Superboy (main voiceover by ??) (ending voiceover by ??)
First few seconds of The Flintstones opening titles
This aired on local Chicago TV on Friday, April 19th 1991 during the 7:30am to 8:00am timeframe.

This was by far my favorite show to run home from school to watch. I was always convinced I wouldn't dominate on the show.

Used to watch this every morning before going to school. Elementary school that is. Also, it was thanks to this show that I learned about the Neo-Geo system.

The second season was better than the first. No cartoon but was a video game tournament with four kids a day playing a game for a minute and 41 seconds to get the most points, winner came back on Friday against the other winners for the week and that winner was in the ultimate tournament at the end. Video Power was literally a precursor to the eSports tournaments of today.

WWOR-TV (channel 9) used to ran “Video Power” for two seasons from 1991 until 1993. Season 1 has the “Power Team” cartoon plus some video game reviews made by Johnny Arcade. Season 2 where it converted into a game show format where it remained until the end of its run in 1993. The complete season 1 and most of season 2 are on KZread with original commercials. “Video Power” was produced the same production company that made the “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” which was Saban Brands.

Video Power was Saban-Acclain-Bohbot's live-action/animated TV show in 1990 to 1991. In the 1st season, it has The Power Team animated segments, plus some video game reviews by Johnny Arcade. In the 2nd & final season, it became & converted into a game show format, while The Power Team segments were re-edited and repackaged as a stand-alone show, which was apparently renamed Acclaim Masters, where it remained until the end of its run in the fall of 1992. Video Power, from the studios behind Camp Candy, Kid 'n Play, Little Shop, King Arthur & the Knights of Justice, Power Rangers, Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, Double Dragon, VR Troopers, Highlander: The Animated Series, Masked Rider, Princess Gwenevere, Tenko and the Guardians of the Magic, Skysurfer Strike Force, The Mask: Animated Series, Big Bad Beetleborgs, B.A.D.: Bureau of Alien Detectors, The Mouse and the Monster, Captain Simian & the Space Monkeys, Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation and more. This was co-produced by Saban, Acclaim and Bohbot.

Oh, man...the only good thing about having to get up early for school was Video Power! By the time I started watching, there were no cartoon segments. That live-action Alice in Wonderland was pretty cooky, and the second part was kind of frightening for small children. ETA: We had Low G-Man. My brother managed to beat it with a **hand-drawn** map of the boss (this was waaay before walkthroughs online!)

I remember watching this show in the early 90’s. I actually sent in a TMNT drawing to the show at a chance for a free game. Going through the obstacle course at the end grabbing as many games you can stick on ya…was exciting. I wonder if anyone out there that was on the show, see this video. This was on around the same time as Wake, Rattle and Roll but afternoon.
