WOW!! St Sunday Crag Summit Camp - UK Lake District

St Sunday Crag Solo Summit Camp - UK Lake District / High Winds in the Hilleberg Soulo
So, back in the Lake District again this time for a solo summit camp on St Sunday Crag near Grisedale Tarn.
Had so many different variations of weather, was clear and very hot enroute to the summit, but then got pretty nippy and cold up on top with the wind.
The wind came in even worse in the night. Was forecast 20 /25 mph winds but ended up getting 33 - 37 mph gusts a lot of the night. I had my 'SkyWatch' anemometer with me so could test the speeds.
Woke up to something very spectacular in the morning with the clods, you will just have to wait and see with that one....... 😏
Thank you so much for clicking on my video and watching, i hope you enjoy it!
If you do please leave me a comment to tell me which part you liked the best and hit the 👍 button. Really does show me some support and makes me want to film more videos for you all! 😃
Take care and stay safe.
Chris
Would be interested to hear your thoughts ‪@PaulMessner‬ if you fancy something to watch on a camp one night (FYI before I got my Tascam) plus a little tip for the MSR Windburner 😉👍🏻🏕💚🙏🏼
Thanks mate hope you get to watch it.

That's is a nice treat to wake up to. Whilst I was watching I was hopeful you were going to show a time lapse of the clouds and your did not disappoint. When the winds pick up it's always good to have faith in your tent that's why I love my hilliberg. Another amazing adventure cheers for sharing.

Definitely afternoon for us, we may have been lazy! 🤫🤭 Incredible indeed Chris, we captured and shared, nice looking path and veiws all round! ❤⛰👍 must have been a bit tricky with all the weight mind, so well done to you 🤗 Loved the summit of St. Sunday Crag, a new one for us, very rocky indeed, thankfully no sign of Sylvester Stallone 🪨 🥊🤭 Well done on finding a pitch, always on concern on summit camping the rocks and pegs. So sorry the GP failed, this is your Bigfoot moment! Feel your pain mate 🛩😍👍 We love how much you love the outdoors, also loved the MSR tip too, very handy! 🔥 The mountains are Incredible, can't wait to get back! We often carry a peg in the day sack, so when out hiking we can check potential pictures as we go lol 🏕❤🏔🧐 Great test of your tent ⛺ in that wind 👍 👏 nice seeing the cloud roll in too before the sunrise, beautiful 😍 absolutely magic! Loved that you went for the cloud TL, epic! Amazing video, thank you Chris, have a great weekend, Ceri and Kat ☕ ❤ 👍🧭🗺🏕

Love it. Sick video again man. It's great when it doesn't actually go your own way and then you wake up to such a varied and beautiful morning! Your content is getting better and better, great music and the wind noise was not a problem for me anyway! I fell up to my waist in a bog last weekend on my last WC with 20kg on my back it was interesting..mild panic! 🤣 -made it memorable tho! Looking forward to the more challenging conditions coming this autumn when I'm next out. Looking forward to your 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 vids! 👌 -do you have a tips thing like Buy Me A Coffee, would do so if I could! 🙏

Alright pal!! Ahh thanks so much mate really appreciate those kind words man. I tried a few slightly different things with the filming and editing with this one to see how it does... Glad the wind was ok for you, I am dealing wirh Gopro atm so they should hopefully be sending me a new media mod 🤞🏻🤞🏻 Oh no!! 🙈🙈 damn dude those bogs can catch you out big time man. I usually use a walking pole as a ground tester in the peaks when I go off path certain times of the year. Nearly lost my leg down a hole a few times lol. Like you said though you can look back and have a funny memory now though 😃 Thanks mate, I have sokefrom Scotland pending.... didnt quite go to plan but you'll see haha. Errrm I did open a coffee thing before but then never said anything about it and deleted the account as I didnt want to ask people for anything, but felt like even if I just mentioned it was there im asking kind of so deleted it haha. What do you think do you think it would be good to have one? Any money would 100% go back into the channel anyway. But I dunno lol Thanks again for the kind words and your support, it really does mean a lot and makes me happy to know you have enjoyed the video 😊😊 I hope you are having a good weekend so far snd enjoy whatever you do tomorrow 👍🏻👍🏻

@@theheightoflife ha no worries! It's funny you mentioned the trekking pole.. I use one but couldn't be bothered taking it off my pack at that moment. I distinctly remember thinking "this bit is really boggy, have to be careful, should probably get the pole out..." But didn't.. lesson learned lol! Made it interesting tho, luckily packed spare trousers! Re the 'buy coffee' thing I don't think there's any shame in it, though I absolutely get the fear of doing so. I like to think there are enough decent people out there who can spare a couple of quid for what after all, is 'free' entertainment to the viewer. The effort to make these films is work after all. If people don't want to pay they don't have to. Personally, I don't need to see receipts of where 'my money' is going.. or fear the vlogger is subsidising some lavish lifestyle lol some people (morons) take that view.. just my opinion tho lol! If it helps put petrol in a tank to get to a remote location, or fix a mic etc then I'm all for that. Something to think about though. Keep on keeping on! 🙌 ATB!

@@NNICKKK Hahaha ive done that a few times too!! On my day pack (Osprey Talon 33L) ive got the stow - n - go attachments so can put the poles on and take them off without having to take the pack off. I have it on my camping pack too the Atmos 50 but seem to put them in the side of my pack 🤣 Cool ok nice one I shall have a think about it then and maybe start it back up 👍🏻👍🏻 Would definitely help anything I could get towards my drone haha. Some good points you put across there really Thanks again bud.... Chris

The peg thing is a right kick in the d**k 🤣 Usual great watch. Try silicone ear plugs mate. On windy summits I just chuck them in and get 8 hours plus 🤣

Just managed to watch the first half of this will watch the rest soon. The audio is great mate, the wireless mic is handy as you can stand further away from the camera but if your standing close I am not sure it makes a difference. Have you decided not to post the videos from Scotland ?

Cool mate! Hope you enjoy the rest of it as the second half that has something quite spectacular I woke up to, was amazing 😍👌🏻 Glad the audio was ok and even though it didnt get rid of as much wind noise that the Rode mic would have those wind jammers still did pretty well I thought. Glad you agreed. I have put something together forna vid just finishing some bits off rpund work etc, will be the next vid up in any case 👍🏻

@@theheightoflife nice will watch it soon. The last video I put up it was meant to be about 50mph gusts at the summit and I believe it. Was fairly impressed how the OA sound handled it with just a wee sponge round it, I do try and shelter the camera a bit too though.

Hey Chris, great watch. Getting some serious kit envy from this channel :P You had a good shelter to stand up to the winds though eh? How do you find the questar bag? and is it the 0f one? I am looking at getting a winter bag and am quite keen on the look of this one, but there is not much out there in terms of real life usage

Hi mate thanks for taking the time to watch and really glad you enjoyed it!! Yeah the Hilleberg did me very proud during the night haha. This is the 0°c bag yeah. Its brilliant for summer and prob get away with it now with the right sleeping pad. But, they do a -6°c one and a -18°c one (which is my winter bag) Google Thermarest Questar bags and you will see all 3. Absolutely LOVE them though and they are wider on the shoulders than 'normal' mummy bags so suits me 👍🏻👍🏻 ATB mate... Chris ✌🏼
