What is really interesting to me is, the two lead singers. One is Russian as is most of the band. The other is Ukrainian and he left the band to fight in the war. The lead guitarist left the band to further his own career. The new members are a great addition to the band. I hope to see them play in Canada some day.

Yes, it is a pitty, that this great singer, who is Ukrainian, cannot be no longer with this band. But that is politics.

They actually did quite a few political songs, but this would be their best known political song.

The original was always one of my favorites back in the day when I was a teenager. The cover by L&F is spectacular.

I just saw (heard) them a couple of weeks ago in Texas! i had an opportunity to shake hands with Leonid and a couple of others but they were moving between songs and couldn't stop. The "greet & meet" at this venue was rushed last year (a quick photo and out you go) so this year i didn't bother with meeting them again. They are indeed becoming a very very busy band with a heavy touring schedule!

They did overlook something on the ending. Maybe because they didn’t know the story behind the song. Chicago stops the song abruptly in the middle of the lyric happen. Chicago stops the song on “Hap”. The reason is: Chicago thought the younger generation would be optimistic about the outlook of things to come, BUT the political machine would shut them up abruptly. “We can make it Hap”!!! My only critique. I LOVE L&F !!!

Good point Nelson, and I'm surprised Leonid allowed it to happen, especially in light of his consistently meticulous note-for-note arrangements across the board with all songs.

My interpretation of the abrupt (Chicago) ending was that it could have been because of an atomic bomb, such as the ending in the movie "Fail-Safe". It would be an ironic outcome in light of the totally hopeful chorus of voices singing "We can make it happen". Same idea as yours, though. And, yes, when this L&F cover came out, it bothered me that the extra syllable was added at the end. Maybe L&F did it purposefully because they have a better future outlook.

Harri, you need to listen to more albums than just one video. This is off Chicago's 4th or 5th Album...I forget! It was vocal pinball between guitarist Terry Kath and bassist Peter Cetera. From 1969 throug up to the late 70's or early 80's always had some song with a political or environmental edge to it. "A song for Richard and his Friends "-Richard Nixon- and "It better end soon my friend" Both from their first album. "In the Country" which is more environmental than political, but has a great back & forth vocals between Terry and Pete. It also rocks! Thats on the 2nd Album. " State of the Union on the 4th album..otherwise known as "Tear the System Down " It's funky though. There's more. But this too long already. Sorry for that!

The song is real old, written by Robert Lamm, guess the song was on Chicago V.

It was on Chicago V, the wooden paneled single album released in 1972, which included Saturday in the Park. I still have the first 5 original vinyl albums. Nice giant B&W square poster of the band! Perfect condition too.

acually Chicago early years di many politcal songs. But in the End of Dialogue the guy accepts the idea that remaining willfully ignore is better than be WOKE. It's a sardnic song

Love you, man! But it gives me a tiny sadness twinge that you hadn't heard the original . . some of their best stuff was from the first few double albums. I just know someone with your excellent taste and ability to appreciate quality would like some of those tunes. Thanks, and keep it comin'! And if Leonid & Friends come to your neighborhood, I recommend seeing them live -- lotsa acts can crank it out in the studio.

No doubt this was the best line up for Leonid, the 2023 version is a bit weaker in both lead guitar flair and covering the Cetera parts. That said Dialogue part one is a discussion between Kath's part (issues) and Cetera's (youthful escapism), but it's dialogue two between the lead guitar and bass that the song really takes off with the conclusion that we can make it happen. A song between two of Chicago's lead singers which was written by the third (Lamm).
