In this video I talk about the Worx WG163 GT 3.0 20V PowerShare 12" Cordless String Trimmer & Edger. As of now, it is one of the best selling grass string trimmers on Amazon. I talk about how long the battery lasts, the power, the edging feature, ease of use, how to change out the spool and line and whether I think this is light duty or medium duty and whether I would purchase this myself. I also talk about which type of home owner this would be good for.

    This was very helpful for a few reasons. We had three main needs for purchasing a trimmer - 1. lightweight 2. telescopic 3. Around $100 and 4. easy to use. We needed a trimmer for a shorter person with a bad back and arthritis and was debating between different Worx and Black and Decker models. Your video helped me make the decision for this one as I was ready to pull the trigger on the same model BUT it only came with one battery so for 10 bucks more, it was a no brainer. We have 1/4 acre and needed this for simple light duty and edging. The wheeled function of this also puts it over the edge of the comparable Black and Decker which doesn't have that and, even though that one is 40V, 2 batteries @ 20V should be suffice for us. A very long time ago I invested in the Greenworks 40V line of products and if I had to do it all over again, I would probably choose Ryobi or Ego. We had the Greenworks trimmer and it was really heavy and never worked well. Anyway, thanks again and I just ordered this using your affiliate link so I hope you get a little bit from our appreciation of your review.

    I am taking a Worx trimmer that I got from a neighbor last year to the flea market tomorrow morning. I love their batteries, and the blower and pole saw that use them are great. But, as you say, this trimmer is clunky, and awkward to use. It's an older model, so maybe this model is better, but not enough for me. So... I take the battery and connect it (via an adapter I made) and use it with a Black and Decker trimmer that I have gotten used to over the years. If it croaks, I guess I'll look into another something, but I'm not sure what it will be. With the Worx trimmer, I just can't predict well enough where the line will be. In your video, you can see how curly the line is, which I think is because of the smaller spool it uses compared to the B&D. I use the same string for both, so it's not that. I agree it's lightweight, where I put the B&D as more of a medium. Sadly, the B&D batteries are designed to fail, and have generally lasted only one year at a usable power, where the Worx batteries (at least the 4.0 amp hour ones,) are in at least year three of use and still working great. (Just not with the Worx trimmer.) Thanks for the video, and confirming my feelings.

    I was wondering if you could clear 2 things up - simple things related to buttons. I think others might want to know. As a previous commenter mentioned, the manual is woefully inadequate. 1.) To start the engine, you have to press that safety button, and at the same time press that main power lever in. But to keep it on, you can let go of the safety, correct ? ... and just have the main lever pressed.? 2.) If you have to use the command feed button, do you at this point, *still* maintain your hold on the main power lever, while you press the command feed button? I got mine today finally, and dont want to break it.

  • @jamminjamy

    @jamminjamy

    #1: You are correct, you just have to press that safety button right before pressing the main power button and then once the trimmer is running you can let go of that safety button. #2: Yes, the CommandFeed is a little weird and takes some getting used to. This is what their main website says: "Just press the command feed button while the machine is running until you hear the 'clattering' noise of the line cutting. The motor will shut off when pressing the CommandFeed button and will restart when releasing the button. During that process, the line will automatically feed additional line for cutting. When initially switching on the trimmer, a small length of the line is fed out. Each time the tool is started from rest it will advance about 0.25 inches of trimmer line." You need to worry about breaking it when trying these things, let us know how it goes! :)

  • @jamminjamy

    @jamminjamy

    14 күн бұрын

    The spool of string trimmer line gets fed out of the spool so you always have fresh line to cut the grass and weeds. The string trimmer line is usually made of nylon so it wears down with each cut that is made, especially if it hits concrete or fence. Ideally, if you can learn how to change it out efficiently it makes cutting your lawn much more enjoyable and less of a headache. I hope this answers your question! :)
