At 4:10 would love to hear people's take on this. I havent looked at it in depth for this one. Would we rather have the CO fold preflop (getting 3.5-1) here if we rip or call? This gets a bit annoyingly complex due to the nature of the multiway pot and assigning somewhat reasonable ranges.

i'm ripping pre, don't want the fish to fold flops when they will call AKo pf vs the 6bet jam lol, ofc the raise is for value but he has JJ+ and AK in his range imo, can't fold such boards with what is the best hand... especially on the turn, i can't see myself folding

Figuring out what sort of ranges CO has that will call the $175 more and not $290 (and I get that a 6-bet signals a stronger hand than a call but I'm not convinced that makes a big difference with there decision). My best guess is against that sort of range we are largely indifferent to whether they call the $175 or fold to an all-in (I'm getting we gain an extra 5%-10% equity share after trying a couple of ranges. 5%-10% of $820 is pretty close to 40% of the $175), so it is just a matter of how we'd prefer to play against the BB and also for the part of their range that is always calling if we prefer to be in for the extra money.
@adamseidel9780
Жыл бұрын
I think it’s a jam but I also don’t understand exactly what Bart was talking about when he was talking about equity dips. Are you saying basically getting the extra $170 on the pot with the CO calling isn’t worth the equity loss of having them in the hand with A high compared to just jamming, pushing them out to make the dead money, and dealing with the BB and HJ? I agree, if that’s the case. Wasn’t sure if that’s what the terminology meant.
@CrushlivePoker

@@CrushlivePoker well let’s see if I can try and do some math somewhat correctly: Since hero is at least calling, the main pot is going to be $865 to the cutoff, so you’re risking $865 to the flop to add the additional $160 to the pot, which is is about a 1:.185 ratio or between 5 and 6 to 1. If CO holds an ace and nobody else has or folded an ace (three left) then there is about a 18% chance an ace lands on the flop. So in that case… we’re somewhat indifferent? That’s only one example obviously, if they have a middle pair then they have only a 12% of flopping the set, so it’s good to bring them along. We probably lose less than 18% equity by bringing them along though. So maybe there is indeed a case for bringing them along and then getting it on any aceless flop. But also a jam probably folds a few of the crappier aces CO has but keeps things like 10s-Qs in, which we want, making jamming even better because it actually increases our equity against their remaining range. That seems like… some semi valid math.

One thing I'd point out to the caller that I think Bart alluded to but didn't spell out is this isn't a normal 5-bet. The 4 bet is just a guy who was going to be committed if he called the 3 bet so he jammed instead and the 5 bet could just be a guy trying to isolate that guy. If it was a true cold 4 bet followed by a true cold 5 bet, and everyone is super deep, you can get closer to folding Kings but thats really not what you have here.

Yeah, the guy in the big blind is hugely incentivized to drive out hero and the UTG raiser, who are deeper and have much more normal ranges. Its great for him if he gets everyone to fold except one or both of the shorties who are splashing around, he can just run it vs. them with a ton of dead money as likely a huge equity favorite if he has QQ or AK or something. Once we consider this I think its a mistake to just give him credit for Aces if he is somewhat competent.
Yeah, with only a half pot sized bet left, I think it's an auto jam from most of us. If he has AA, it's a cooler and you get stacked, but still played it properly. Can't be afraid of getting stacked by a cooler when you get the flop that you want... Good on him for calling this howler of a hand in, very brave haha.

It is worth noting that AA is partially or indirectly blocked, because the HJ and CO are more likely to have Ax than Qx.
I would say to this guy that sometimes in poker you’re going to stacked, so don’t worry about it. When you have a strong hand and the price is right, you just have to go with it.
We've all been there, but damn. You either fold pre to the 5 bet if thats your read on the guy, or you continue all the way through and live with it.
With no offense to the caller, 5/10 is probably a bit too steep. There are several very basic mistakes made and a 1/2 table is a better place to make them. The main issue is MUTB fear. Yes AA will show up sometimes, but in a cash game the goal should be “how do I get as much money in the pot before an Ace shows up on the board?”

Anyhow, Im pretty sure I've seen this guy before cause that's how hg is, I see same regulars , anyhow, I've seen a fold worse than that at HG. A guy bet on the river, other guy goes all in, and it's $3 to call, and the other guy folded. The guy folded would've won the pot.
Ended up that his ridiculous flat pre and x back on flop was the perfect way to guarantee he gets the money off qq…. Apart from the part where he folded
Nah, I watched someone make the worst fold in poker history to me at 1/2. I had 72 in the big blind and there were like 4 limpers. Flop 722. I check call the flop along with the SB after a late position bet. Turn is a 9 and the SB leads, I raise, the flop better calls and the SB folds. River is an 8 and I bet only like $40 or so and she folds 92 face up saying she knows I have 88. LOL.
I was shouting All IN preflop, it like a no brainer move if the other got AA so be it what the Hero thinking by calling
'Remember we are all here to learn guys and at different stages in our career'. Meanwhile thumbnail reads 'WORST FOLD EVER?' Lmao
I don’t hate a fold pre if a guys a nit. There are a lot of players that only 4-5 bet Aa. But after calling massive burn of cash on that runout
I only remember vividly a handful of live hands since 2006 and every single one is where I made a horrible fold and they haunt me to this day.
Ship pre or at minimum on the flop. If you get stacked by AA, so be it.
How this hand has played out, if he goes all in on that board, then he probably has one of these combinations: AA, AA, QQ, QQ, JJ, JJ. Possibly 1010, 1010. Possibly the other KK. So do the math: there's 2 combinations that beat you, 4 (possibly 6) that lose to you, and one unlikely case of a split. So you play the odds, and you call, always.
@JohnSmith-nx7zj
Жыл бұрын
There’s 6 combos of AA, not 2. Same goes for QQ, JJ and TT.
strange case. I will never understand this fold.
Crusty boat!!!! That was painful. It was like being trapped between rampage and robbi lew
He showed weakness so the big blind felt good enough to raise. I wouldn't have put him on aces with early action. If I go home it's because I lost with premium cards I'm ok with it.
If you are afraid he has aces… so what? Will you fold to any bet? If “no” then be the aggressor and put the bet in first. Put the pressure on.
We all have hands we would like to take back but what better spot is there for kings with that action preflop. For the amount he had left I'm going to pay aces off there 100% of the time. I can even get behind the check on the flop to induce the all in on the turn but that simply has to be a call to the all-in
This is what happens when a poker player tries to think.
I remember I 4 bet jammed queens for $500 at 1-3 and the dude folded kings face up cause he said he knew I had aces😊

Kudos to everyone, the caller and Bart for handling it in a positive way. There are more than enough miserable a-holes out there already. XD
What board is hero comfortable putting money in if not this one with kk? It's extremely unlikely you'll flop a set.
How do I submit a hand to be analyzed and what number do I call into to get on the show?
I often play with one guy, and one guy only, where I would likely fold KK to a 5! Otherwise this is a jam all day long pre flop.
I mean... wut? Dude, no. You have the second best hand, you got a low stack going desperado, and a BB getting wild with it. You get a disconnected flop and you aren't dreaming of jamming?! Wut? All-in in that spot all day long, dude!
Lol, this guy has the gall to call others "tight" and "a nit."
I kind of understand the smoothcall preflop if he thought this player would fold to an all in with anything but aces then this makes a bit of sense. I've done it myself against really low vpip nits to induce an all in with queens or AK when it checks around. But when the board pairs you just have to call and assume if he had aces he would've just put it in on the flop. It might have actually been the perfect play with kings vs a nit to play it like this and call the turn
Regardless of you thinking that the other guy has aces, you HAVE to bet that flop with intent to put the rest in or jam the flop in a casino. You can`t check the flop and let the opponent make a weird straight or set. And with that turn, you could even have scarred yourself out thinking he has fucking quads or some weird shit. This board is safe. Unless you have a lockdown airtight read preflop that the opponent has aces you need to shove that shit in. He's making a mistake I did early on and just not accepting that in a situation where you win 85% of the time you'll see the 15% happen sometimes.

When the caller kept saying he just thought the "tight" guy had aces here, I wish Bart would have asked him why he didn't just fold pre-flop then? That's how dumb this play was. And despite the horrible play, he still got the best board ever for jacks or queens to have to call all-in, and still didn't pull the trigger! Who is the real uber tight one here? Good Grief!
The villain probably was shoving for value with Queens. He probably gave off a tell showing that he was strong, because he probably believed that he was shoving for value, and not as a bluff (and also shoving to deny equity to AK). Was it the right move by the villain to shove the turn? Should he have felt like he was betting for value with Queens?

I mean after not getting 6-bet shoved preflop and it checking through on the flop I'd feel pretty good about value shoving/denying equity with QQ.
"I'm not sure I thought it all the way through," says caller. I'm not sure there was much thinking that needed to be done here at all pre-flop.
I wish no one would ever read this... the mistake he made here is exactly what I hope people convince themselves of every hand. "Worst case scenario incoming? Yep! Fold." Often we instead get the "ehh, if you got me, you got me. Call".
With a board like this, after all the preflop action, I'm NEVER folding
When he checks to you, bet $200 at least to charge him for his three outer and perhaps induce him to put it in with JJ thinking you are on the high cards. If you think the cold 5 is aces only, then fold pre, otherwise, shove. But given the dead money there's no way he's not 5-betting QQ or aks at least.
When the opponent shove the flop he has AA-QQ-AKs when shove the turn he has JJ-QQ-AK of clubs. But he still folded :D
YOU MAKE perfect sense Bart....

If you think he has AA you should fold preflop. Calling pre and then folding on a safe board doesn't make any sense. You don't have the odds to set-mine here.
No offense to the caller, but man I hope I get in a game with him. Might be the nittiest play I've ever seen.
Been there , ' done this a couple times ! With all of the pre flop betting , I fail to see how the flop could have been worrisome . Of course pocket 7's would have the potential of a straight . So I guess , I just answered my own question !
I would say there is one point in checking flop that was not tackled. If CO shoves his 1/10 of pot or whatever on flop BB is then basically forced to continue with his whole range. Then we can either shove or call. But yeah calling preflop and folding on safe flop should never happen in this one.

I never folded KK preflop in my life, but a couple of times I felt I should have. This is not one of those spots. Anyway, the title of the video is correct, but a bit too harsh on the caller.
0:01 Kermit has entered the call
It can be pretty cut and dry so we don't need to complicate things too much. If you have a soul read and you think your opponent has Aces you simply fold pre-flop. You don't have enough money behind to justify set mining with pocket kings. With all that dead money in the middle and you having the second best hand possible out of all the combinations of hands available I think it's a slam dunk all In pre-flop. Poker is alive and well. I think perception is everything. If you can understand your opponents thought process you can really manipulate every situation you get involved with said opponents. Understanding their tendencies. What players at the table over call. What players at the table over fold. What players at the table over value their hands. What players the table undervalue their hands. People are inherently unique in terms of their perceptions. So if you can understand each individual person at the table you can really exploit them psychologically. Which gives a lot of credence to sitting back early on and watching each player play. I'm almost thinking a good strategy would be too play pretty straightforward in ABC in the beginning. Once you have the information on the table that's when you can start exploiting their weaknesses. I mean let's be honest most players play pretty differently in terms of their decisions. So if you can identify each individual player's weaknesses and strengths you can then exploit them. Which is why playing longer sessions is probably very profitable as long as you can stay mentally healthy during that long session.
I’m not sure which street he played worse. Oh my
This game is crazy but Kings and Queens don’t get all in pre?? 🤔
Yeah this is just a shrug and shove it in preflop. BB can easily be trying to iso the wild player and cold caller with sooooooooooooooooo many worse hands like AK, AQs or TT-QQ.

Do we think they very small preflop 5! from BB is a suspicious sizing that tells us anything? Feels like AA s obviously in BB’s range, but the tiny bet doesn’t seem overly confident.
