    What you have here is a Product Manager expressing the design language of the development process. To the uninitiated it sounds like pointy twaddle but for designers, this is exactly the sort of language that they have to live with.

    From a comfort point of view, this is probably going to be one of the best Rolls Royces ever. The already existing ultimate comfort of the phantom, ghost etc., but with no engine sound or vibrations. This might be the quietest car in the world (in terms of inside noise).

    Rolls-Royce customers don't just want a quiet ride. They appreciate the richness and symbolism that comes from the 12 cylinder engine too. In fact, a friend of mine who owns RR dawn black badge, used to cruise Dawn in dawn, enjoying the subtle v12 engine sound. In that sense, there should be additional follow-up to the v12 Engined model such as Dawn/Wraith

    They had an opportunity to create the largest frunk in the world, for ultimate luxury applications, like a full wardrobe or bar, and they just left it an unaccessible void. Are they even pretending to be trying? Sure it will be comfortable, but a coupe looks with huge frunk would have been something. Now it's a comfy short range coupe. Big whoop.

    Was probably easier to predict an electric future for cars in 1900 than for example in 1950, since they were so much more common back then (not as in "they were super common", but they were a bigger deal back in 1900 than they were in 1950), and the first road vehicle to go over 100 km/h was a 1899 electric car as well.

    Electric for a luxury vehicle makes the most amount of sense in my opinion. With that said, in the US we are far behind on the infrastructure level for electric cars to be a suitable replacement for internal combustion engines. It's almost a scam here since not only 95% of the existing power grid is not capable of handling the new surge of electric vehicles but also the fact that more than 90% of electricity is produced via fossil fuels.

    Coefficient of drag has nothing to do with size. The drag coefficient does not describe the drag in an absolute term as it does not account for the surface.

  • @manxman8008

    Exactly. A small rough brick would have more drag coeff than this.

  • @gospelofrye6881

    @gospelofrye6881

    Жыл бұрын

    @@manxman8008 A brick would have a higher drag coefficient than the Spectre, yes. But that means, in the same airflow, the drag force on the brick, relative to its surface area, will be higher than the drag force on the Spectre. Overall energy required to accelerate the brick to 100mph will be much lower, of course, because the brick is much less massive. It is not in any way LESS "draggy" than a Spectre.

    Electric car manufacturers are increasing the charging voltage to, for example, 800V to allow for faster charging. Two charging ports would be clumsy, and finding two free adjacent public chargers would be problematic at best.

    You do realize most of the Mercedes lineup have very impressive drag coefficients, right? The new S-class has a coefficient of drag of 0.22, for example. And the EQS is 0.20. Further, their EQXX manages 0.17, which is just astounding. So, not sure what you're on about, but you should probably spend less time on KZread if you're this ignorant.

    There are only three things I really really do not like about it. The headlights at the front. If they had been rectangular rather than the sill slope out from the grill. The tail lights are wayyyy too small for a car that size. The rear lights also remind me of the ones that were on the Jaguar XJ. The last thing. The boot opening. Way too small. Why not do the option of either what they have done or a full hatch which lifts the rear window. They could have put an internal window like they do with the cullinan.

    The most important part they left out how big is the battery? Is it just 100kw/h like the rest ? Car manufactures love to skip over the fact that their range on EVs is trash. The max range can easily half if the conditions are unfavorable or if you drive quickly. The Taycan is empty after 45 minutes so is Tesla if you truly step on it. 200kw/h should be the bare minimum for high end cars.
