I think different methods are more effective for binding of limbs. A simple loop like that alone is generally ineffective. Also, it will depend on the rope used.

This is how I tied stuff when I was 4-6

Instructions unclear: Nobody can unwrap their Christmas gifts because I used the knot on them.

Guys don't worry, when he says it won't come loose, he means it won't come loose naturally, or if you tug on the ends, but if you pull on one part of the rope from the middle of the x it should loosen, then you can pull one end of the rope out of the x and the knot is undone. Just wanted to clarify that for anyone who thought it would literally be impossible to untie it. This doesn't mean you should tie the constrictor knot on yourself though, especially not the neck (for all you people with intrusive thoughts - don't you dare).

There are plenty of knots that dont tighten when pulled, e.g. alpine butterfly which creates a fixed loop which will not tighten (bind) under any load. There are many such loops

​@@jayron-zq4xd A good sharp EDC (Every Day Carry) knife will take care of any type of rope. Of you have a fid you can work the knot loose it just takes a bit of time & patience. I've done lots of marlin spike work = Sailors line (rope) Art work 🪢❣
