Walton made his 88 all-in as a back-raise against Weinman's 3-bet after calling the initial raise from Jones, a move which is typically one of the strongest displays of strength in poker. He probably thought Weinman from watching him throughout the event was very capable of 3-betting light as a steal against a raise and a call and a back-raise shove would force him to lay down anything that wasn't a bona-fide monster. Unfortunately for Walton he actually had that monster, but its a move that probably would have worked against anything less than KK (especially if he hadn't previously used it earlier) so its actually not as bad a move as you would think.

88 seems like a small mistake, but not huge imo. The raise was 3x, so a bit bigger than optimal, making the 3bet large as well. If you flat there in the sb, I think you actually should shove here. Just super super unlucky to run into aces, youre doing just fine here against 90% of their range, and Weinman should have a ton of 3bet bluffs here given the larger open (worse pot odds to call)+sb flat (more money out there to win by 3bet).

I hope the "genius" in charge of putting so much of this Main Event behind a paywall gets ousted for single-handedly upsetting so much of the poker community. How do you expect poker to grow if you don't allow new people to watch the most exciting parts? Are you telling me that the monthly fee for a half-assed service pays more than actual sponsors? If that's the case, you should allow another company besides PokerGO to be the de facto steward of the WSOP. Poker will die if this format continues to be followed, please change this nonsense if you want to keep your fanbase.

Worst decision in the world to use the final table of the main event to sucker people into paid subscriptions. I will NEVER subscribe to PokerGO now. Why not just insert advertisements into your stream like all other channels to generate revenue? It worked for television for decades, and plenty of other youtube streams are successful without pandering for paid subscribers. Boo!!!

@@OneOut1 No, it almost doesn't even matter what cards he had but the fact that it was 88 makes an already pretty horrible play even worse. There is just no reason to shove a 100bb stack when this much money is on the line other than if you have a Tier 1 hand, and even then its still not a great move. This could never be a "brilliant move" even if he won the pot, that would just mean he got lucky after making a still horrible play lol

To those who suggest poker is not a real sport, consider this. While poker may not be a sport in a physical sense, it certainly requires stamina and is the mental equivalent of a sporting contest. Players can actually lose weight during a tournament just by burning off mental energy. At least one of the commentators should be a poker champion who gives an analysis of what should or has happened. If this is there I may be missing it.
