I'm not Vegan, but glad to see you gave an honest and great rep for vegan eaters. Too many strongmen do this challenge and just eat crap food. Prentending they can't stomach a few veggies when most their diets are loaded with crap.

@@okaynope5197I mean….vegan food just isn’t meant for a human beings diet. You’re constantly having to supplement everything to try and achieve what exactly? Either way people are going to eat meat, dairy, etc. What’s the goal?
@okaynope5197

@Romanus- "constantly having to supplement" is an overstatement. Soybeans, mushroom root, and seitan have comparable protein per calorie to beef and chicken respectively. The only real thing you would have to supplement micronutrient wise is b12 which most people get via supplement anyway indirectly to animal feed or in breakfast cereals. You don't have to convert the entire planet, just one person at a time. Vegan diets generally are healthier, far more sustainable, and less cruel than animal products so imo it's a pretty obvious choice.

You have a vegan fan in me Mitch ;-). I am so happy that somebody from the strongman community finally tried eating vegan for a bit without prejudice. I was a little afraid when I saw the thumbnail, since I was really disappointed by Robert Oberst's and also Brians's "strongman eats vegan for a day" videos. Great idea to partner with Steph, she really knows her way around vegan food and is knowledgeable as well. And btw. I agree with your message, every step towards more plant-based diet helps our environment, animals and also our health ;-)

I think that is the hardest part about going vegan or trying it out. The amount of misinformation, especially in the form of vegan creators is astounding. Hard to find a vegan creator that knows how to make a healthy diet. Refreshing to see someone that isn't just throwing BBQ sauce to make something taste good to eat long term.

There are 20.000 plants you can eat on planet earth she says. And 10 different kinds of "Regular" meat. That gives me 20.010 options. That 10 extra gives a huge difference in combo's. What she forgot to mention is how many of the 20.000 plants are "Regular".
2:00 Not sure about Canada, the US and wherever most your views are from but where I live, 1% of the population is vegan and 10% is vegetarian, so it's probably a lot more than one ^^
Being a vegan is a lot more easier these days, especially for starters. There are so much more genuine choices and info for those that want to start their transition. When I started back in 2013, it was crap. It didn't help that where I lived at the time, there wasn't a lot of vegetarian/vegan choices in restaurants, grocery stores and fast foods chains, besides just eating salads, fries or side vegs that tasted horrible and can barely fill you up. I'm no longer vegan, but since there's so many alternatives currently, I've introduced vegan/vegetarian days into my diet (at least 2 days in the week where I only have vegetarian or vegan meals). It's been doing well for me, I don't know if I'll ever go back to being a full vegan again. If I do plan to, these days it's the best time to do it.
Vegan lifter here. Thanks for giving this a shot. You need to be slightly careful dieting as a vegan, but it can totally be done. Keep up the great work champ.

You can't get the required protein with a vegan diet. Only meat, dairy proteins and eggs have a complete amino acid profile. Plant based protein are incomplete proteins because they do not have a complete amino acid profile and plant based proteins have a much lower absorption rate.

There's a reason vegans and vegetarians try to make their food look and taste like the food they don't eat. How many times have you seen someone try to make their steak look and taste like tofu? I love vegetables by the way, I go to farms and farmers markets every week. Sauteed greens are amazing, they're even more amazing when they have a ribeye or tenderloin next to them.

"How many times have you seen someone try to make their steak look and taste like tofu?" How many times have you seen meat actually look like the animal you're eating? There's a reason your chicken doesn't come with the head, eyeballs, beak and feathers lol. Vegans aren't denying the pleasure of eating meat, they're just saying animal lives are worth more than that temporary sensory pleasure of taste. Just like I wouldn't justify killing an animal because I wanted to experience the pleasure of the sight, sound, smell or touch of it. If someone told you they killed a pig because they wanted to FEEL the blood trickle down their fingers or they loved the SOUND the pig makes as it squeals and gurgles blood from a slit throat, you'd think that person were a psychopath.
@dustinm800

@@baggaz167 It depends how you buy your meat. Buying whole chickens, ducks, etc is not that uncommon. If you hunt you also know exactly where your food is coming from and know that it was a living breathing thing. To answer your question, I've seen meat look like the animal I'm eating a lot. My comment wasn't about meat looking like the animal, it's about the industry and vegans/vegetarians making non-meat things look and taste like meat products. Why do you need to process your food so it looks like a hamburger, chicken nuggets, etc? Why do you need to flavor it so it tastes like meat or cheese or something else you don't eat? As Stephanie said there are "20,000 plants" she can choose from, why not honor them and just prepare them the best way you can to enhance what they are? Why do you have to over process plants etc so that something comes out the other end that looks and tastes like something it's not?

Sadly you have to eat nearly double the amount of tofu in order to get the same protein effect as you do from eggs since it's only has 68% the BV of eggs. Also less essential amino acids & less BCAAs...

After working in the supplement industry for years and going vegan after leaving, I can genuinely say my training is just as intense and still getting gains without animal protein or using any supplements! 5 years so far. Arguably in better health and fitness than I was before going vegan. That being said, it does take consideration and being aware of one's nutritional needs, specifically with weight training in mind. It's doable but I learned that most people barely have a basic understanding of nutrition, let alone going vegan and eliminating whole food groups. Great video sharing awareness and trying new things Mitchell!

Eating moderate quantities of meat, eggs and dairy does not mean excluding plenty of fruit and vegetables. One egg had 6 grams of protein. 78 calories If you can hire a nutritionist to make your meals then great. When you exercise, you are using mostly yesterday’s nutrition. Hello!
Great that you're enjoying the taste of what she's shown you. Peoples criticisms are on having to step off of their tasty products, most of the time, and it's not fair because works being done all the time by people who want to see their products at their tastiest. And once people try a vegan product they don't like, they think it's ALL like that and never buy new ones with better recipes!! The cheeses are the most disparaging. You have most companies producing this feety cocnutty smelling ballrash of a fake cheese, but then rarely, like Daiya's orange cheddar block, they'll make one that actually tastes like cheese, and if you put it on someone's pasta meal, or burrito, they'd just taste cheddar. But the price of that is so high, people aren't buying it, so it's rare to find that particular product because the general consensus is that vegan cheese is horrendous.
