In this video I had the upgraded torpedo that has 15km range instead of the default 20km. So this whole video I was not using 20km. But the 15km which yields more damage etc. Sorry for the confusion

PhlyDaily max speed was 40 knots during CBT and with OBT launch they made it 39 knots you said above 40knots man i wish it would be above 40knots it would be accurate at least(IRL 42 knots speed)

That Essex driver in the second game was Alaric, the same one you and Slick were fighting in the last game of your Montana video (the one Slick got into a bit of an argument with after his Yamato got wrecked). From both games, that guy looks like a seriously badass carrier captain.

Love this intro Phly, simply amazing.

In RL Japanese torps were called Long Lance torps and were very nasty, especially at night when they were hard to spot.

Easily the best intro on YT. Fuckin love it!

I used to play regularly with BBs and Cruisers, but now I have become interested in play with dds, I had an absent Minekaze, the power of SHIMAKAZE I love so much, good gameplay, good tips to play, well done.

I vote for you keeping the rising sun flag in your thumbnails, and I think they should have had it in the game. Historically thats the flag that the Japanese ships actually flew.

Phly, i think the reason the speed increase ability increases your detection range has more to do with your increased wake signature than your smokestacks.

@PhlyDaily how did you make that awesome intro of the Bismarck/Tirpitz rising from the ocean floor? I have been wondering for quite some time.

Well, I know there are a lot of ships on the waiting list, but I think it would be pretty fitting for the Gearing to be the ship after the Shibekaze (such torpedoes, wow).

Note that the Gearing has a reload time of ~3 seconds and can fire outside of its spotting range (from ~10km), effectively making you an invisible Atlanta/ gunboat/ fire-starter with ten 15km torpedoes every ~140 seconds. Would love to see your reaction to it eventually!

Luftangreifer The Gearing will get spotted though as the range of a gearings guns is 11.1 I think and the detection range is 9.2

Alex Liu The base surface detectability range for the Gearing is 7.6km. This is before factoring in equipment (-10%?), the level 5 commander perk (-10%), camouflage (-3%), and anything else.

what , the boost does more then only engine boost to allow a litle more top speed? you sure about that?

I find the American DDs to be very fun to play. I look forward to playing the Gearing. On the same note, I find the Japanese DDs require quite a different mindset when playing them. They are equally enjoyable once you get in the right frame of mind to play them. You (PhilyDaily) asked a very good question about the ship-borne fighters - are they scouts as well? Or is it simply a fighter? Anyone have the answer to this as it's been bugging me.

Zekamashi! My goal as a DD driver is to get to this ship. Still down at tier 6 Mutsuki, but about half-way to Hatsuharu.

That second match is a prime example of what is wrong with carriers in this game. The minimum arming distance of their torpedoes is too short for higher tier ships to stand a chance of avoiding them.

u really should consider team up with baron and jingles, that would AMAZING

When you "upgrade" the Shimakaze's torps to a lower 15km range, you get increased dmg. Also, the speed of the torps is the same, 67kts for both 20 and 15km torps. =) Awesome DD.

That Essex class carrier, what a fucking badass!

The Torp upgrade for the Shima reduces it's range to 15km, but increases the damage by a couple thousand

It would not work because it would be slow as hell. WWII submarines were very slow they could go 20 knots max underwater. And they would need to have less health than a DD which makes them a crappy under water destroyer without guns.

question the names of the ship's doesn't pop up for me, is there a button for it or anything of that nature?

try the kuma , that thing is a fire starter and its torps are good too.

How do you zoom in and follow your torps like in the beginning of the video?

Can someone help me out please. When in game, above the compass, I no longer have that green ship diagram that displays the ship's health. I only have the name of the ship with the numbers showing the damage taken. Is there any reason why I don't have this green ship diagram?

I thought this thing used oxygen torpedoes (no trail) yet there is a pretty obvious one.

ive played carriers, cruisers and battleships up to tier for with cruisers and battleship to tier 5, I know how it feels to have 5-10 torps dropped right next to me

how to watch torpeedoess when are on the way?

Is it normal that that I'm getting 2-4 fps while playing. I also have a ping of about 230.
